A Minute Chance

"It might rain" Su Ran mumbles as she stare at the sky from her window, dark clouds covered the land from the sun.

Suddenly, there was a knock that woke Su Ran up from her daze. "First Miss, your cousin is here"

Su Ran didn't reply.

"Second Miss Su, you can't get inside the lady's room!" The maid's flustered voice was heard. After that, a loud bang rang. The door of Su Ran's room was kicked open.

"Se.. Second Miss Su you can't..."

"Tch. Do I need her permission to go inside her room? She's just a good for nothing now."

"But.. but"

"How dare a maid tell me off? get lost!"

"Feifei it's okay, you can go" Su Ran said without any fluctuation in her voice.

"You heard that? Get lost, you dirty maid" Su Mei said with disgust.

After the maid walk away with great reluctance, Su Ran stared at Su Mei, her cousin. Her eyes that was once bright and clear was now dull and full of nothingness.

Seeing her like this, Su Mei clapped her hands and laugh looking like a crazy woman, nothing like her image outside as a gentle and outstanding lady was seen.

Su Ran just looked away.

"Hey, I will marry Prince Zhao tomorrow. Aren't you going to congratulate me?" Su Mei's voice was thicked with arrogant.

"Heh, congrats. I hope you two have a wonderful married life."

"How obedient" Su Mei said with an ugly smile.

Su Ran smiled, and added "But that will be quite unlikely to happen, after all.. your Prince Zhao will right now be seized up as the culprit who killed my husband, Prince Xuan."

Su Mei's smile faded, and her face turned pale. "What do you mean by that?" Su Mei shouted.

Su Ran laughed, but there's no happiness in her eyes, instead extreme sadness.

"Hey are you crazy!"

"Don't worry, you're also going together in prison with that Prince Zhao of yours. The two of you will be killed together. How fantastic" Su Ran laughed again.

"Crazy woman!" Su Mei shouted as she picked up a tea cup on the table and throw it at Su Ran. Su Ran didn't dodged. After that, Su Mei ran off extremely nervous. She was going to see Prince Zhao, her soon to be husband. She didn't believe what Su Ran said, but she was afraid.

Su Ran looked at Su Mei's departing figure, and smiles. What she said is true. Then she put her hand on her bleeding forehead and thought 'So this is what it feels like to be thrown of a tea cup.. it hurts. My poor husband, thrown off a tea cup by me."

After she was all alone in the room, Su Mei cried heavily.

Is a promise meant to be broken? Su Ran thought so. Su Ran and Prince Xuan once promised to marry each other once she comes of age and that they would love each other all their life . But a misfortune falls upon her. She suddenly woke up with her memory erased together with their promise.

With that, her cousin Su Mei take advantage of the situation and talked bad about Prince Xuan. She instill into her that Prince Xuan is a monster. Because Prince Xuan is known as the monster of war. He never lost to a war. Because Su Mei is her cousin, she chose to believed her over Prince Xuan.

Memory can be forgotten but true feelings will never. That happens to her, she had feelings for Prince Xuan but ignored it. She chose to believed her cousin over her true feeling. How dumb of her.

One day, Prince Xuan request her hand on marriage from the emperor. Because he was a prince and had a word from the emperor, her stance was weak. In the end, they married each other. But she was against it. On their wedding night, she threw a tea cup on him. She thought that he will dodged but he didn't. When she saw his bleeding forehead, she felt extremely upset but hide it.

She felt guilty and thought that her husband would end their marriage or worse kill her. But that didn't happen. Days passed and she still felt guilty over the matter of their wedding night. Because Prince Xuan didn't said anything and instead spoil her, she finally though that Prince Xuan was not a bad person like what her cousin said him to be.

He also said to her their promise, but even so, she still not remember anything. She felt very disappointed of herself for not remembering their promise and thought that the reason why she doesn't remember their promise is because she thought lightly of it. This realization of her brought her the feeling of being not good enough for the prince.

One day, her cousin visit her. She told her cousin Su Mei that Prince Xuan is not as bad as she thought. That he's a good man and affectionate person. Su Ran still not see that her cousin is a scheming person, so she told her cousin of what she felt. She felt that she was not good enough for the prince.

Then her cousin looked at her concernly and said " If that what you feels.. then maybe.. you should get a divorce?"

Su Ran looked shocked and said "But.. that will ruin my reputation"

Su Mei looked at her disappointedly and said "So you want your reputation over his? she deserves a much better lady. look at yourself right now.. You choose your reputation over him right? Then.. that means you don't love him that much."

Su Ran was at a loss.

After a while Su Ran inhales deeply and said with trembling voice "I'm so selfish... you're right... he deserves much better."

Su Mei hide the wicked smile on her face and pat her on the shoulder.

Su Ran felt comforted. She look at Su Mei in appreciation. But after a while she looks conflicted. "But he loves me.. I felt it. He will not divorce me."

Su Mei looked at her meaningfully. "I have a plan. Bring him on the .... mountain on the 17th day of the month" Su Mei said.

"is that all?" Su Ran asked.

"Of course. leave everything to me. you only need to do that." Su Mei smiles.

17th day of the month

"What are we doing here?" Prince Xuan look at her dotingly

"I... I need to divorce you.. you deserve a much better lady"

"What are you saying? You're all I need" Prince Xuan said in anger

Su Ran felt touched "I.. "

Suddenly, many footsteps was heard walking in their direction.

"What a beautiful scene"

Prince Xuan and Su Ran looked into the direction where the voice is coming.

It was Prince Zhao with Su Mei that was hugging Prince Zhao's arms. There are many people behind them with weapons and ill intentions was obvious on their faces.

Prince Xuan's gaze darkens. "What is the meaning of this?" Prince Xuan asked with a chilling tone. Su Ran was afraid. She hugged Prince Xuan. Prince Xuan move her in his back, covering her.

"You will see." Prince Zhao said. Then Prince Zhao clapped his hands, after that, the people at the back began to attack Prince Xuan.

Su Ran was at a loss. She look at Su Mei and shout "Su Mei! what is this?"

Su Mei looked at her mockingly.

Su Ran's feet turned cold.

Then she hears Prince Xuan shout at her "move out Ranran! Their target is me"

Su Ran looked at him, and nodded. If she was to be accidentally hurt, it will distract Prince Xuan.

Su Ran move back. Then her gaze landed onto Prince Xuan. Suddenly, her head buzz. She stammer.. and plop onto the ground. She held her head. Memories of the past began to appear on her mind, together with the memory of their promise.

She was still holding her head when a shadow covers her. It was Su Mei. Su Mei look at her with a smile and said "oh, your memory is back? hmm that's right. You're memory is suppose to be back now."

Su Ran look at Su Mei in desbelief. "You.. you erased my memories?"

"Of course, stupid".

The clashing of swords was stopped. SuMei and SuRan look at where Prince Xuan faught. The scene was bath with blood, the last standing was Prince Xuan. SuMei looked at SuRan jealously and thought "what a lucky bitch, she actually has such a man" She tried before to seduce Prince Xuan before, but she didn't succeed. So she comes to Prince Zhao, Prince Zhao was less better looking than Prince Xuan, because if she can't have Prince Xuan, she might as well destroy him. She chose Prince Zhao not only because he's the second most handsome prince next to Prince Xuan but also because Prince Xuan is thorn in Prince Zhao eyes. The kind that Prince Zhao will broke into pieces

After the fight was done, Prince Xuan walked over to Su Ran. He first push hard Su Mei out of his way.

Su Mei grit her teeth.

Su Mei then looked at Prince Zhao coquettishly and said "He pushed me!"

Prince Xuan paid them no mind and hugged Su Ran. Su Ran cried and said "I remember our promise" Prince Xuan was stunned. He looked at Su Ran. Su Ran smiled and said "I will love you forever"

Prince Xuan hugged her again, and then kissed her deeply.

PrinceZhao's eyes darken. He shouted "You think you're that good huh?"

PrinceXuan look at Prince Zhao. He pat Su Ran's head and walk towards Prince Zhao. Then a fight broke out once again. When Prince Zhao was about to lose, a poisoned arrow was shot at Prince Xuan. There was an archer hiding on a tree.

"You cunning" PrinceXuan coughed up blood. Prince Zhao laugh at his misery.

Su Ran's eyes felt it was going to fall off. She run onto Prince Xuan miserably. "You.. you" Su Ran cried.

PrinceXuan touched her face, the next moment his hand that that was touching her face slid down. His last bit of life remaining, faded.

Su Ran cried with no sound heard. She deeply regret it. If only she remembers everything much earlier. This would've not happen.

Backtothepresent

Su Ran was still crying on her room miserably. If she was given a chance, even just a minute, she would save her husband, even if she has to sacrifice herself.

After being tired from crying, Su Ran took a bottle under her pillow and drank it's content. Her eyes then began to feel heavy, before her eyes was to close, she mumbles "I already punished the culprit who made us like this, I will follow you now" After that, her breathing stopped. The maid who was left before, come back again. She looks at her lady that was no longer breathing, her lady was very beautiful. She knows that her lady was already tired. She cried silently. After her funeral was done, she will leave the mansion. Her lady was the only reason why she stayed at the mansion.

Su Ran walk endlessly on the dark until she reach the light. Upon coming into the light. Her eyes widened in disbelief. She saw Prince Xuan and Prince Zhao fighting with their swords. A thought come into her mind. Then she runs quickly into Prince Xuan. Prince Xuan felt that someone bump into his back. He looked into his back while maintaining his defend from Prince Zhao. The he paled at what he sees, he saw Su Ran on the ground. There was an arrow that pierce onto her chest. Prince Xuan kicked fiercely prince Zhao and threw his sword at the person hiding on the tree. He kneeled down looking at Su Ran. Su Ran saw his husband with tears on his face. With her last bit of consciousness, she also touched his face, she can't talk. Her tongue was stiff. 'So it was what it feels like to be shot an arrow, a poisoned at that. It's awful. Well finally I have a chance to saved you.... Even if it's just a minute. I love you ' Her eyes close and a tear slid down at the same time as her hand also slid down on her beloved husband's face.

He hugged her and cried silently asking himself 'Why did this happened?'

Prince Zhao looked at his brother Prince Xuan, he took this chance to sneak an attack. But when his sword was about to be pierced onto Prince Xuan, Prince Xuan turned around and blocked his sword. Then he killed Prince Xuan with his bare hands.

When Xu Mei saw this, she freaked out and shout help at the top of her lungs.

Prince Xuan carefully cover Su Ran with his robe. Then he slowly walk into Su Mei.

He asked "Are you the one who erased Ranran's memory?" While he was battling, he faintly heard Su Ran asking Su Mei if she erased her memory as he was paying attention to Su Ran while battling.

Su Mei felt her calp tinged she said "It's.. it's not me! It was Prince Zhao who brought that medicine! He.. he said that I just need to let her eat that... he said it was not poison!

"So in the end you're still the one who feeds that medicine to her" Prince Xuan said coldly

"I.. I.."

Prince Xuan picked up a sword on the ground and cut her neck.

"Ahhh" Su Mei's neck was bleeding non stop. She covers it with her hand, but the bleeding didn't stop.

Prince Xuan looked at her coldly and cut his sleeves. He use his sleeves to tie Su Mei on the tree.

"You may not be dead by the cut on your neck, but I doubt that you may still be alive after your blood is all gone" Prince Xuan said coldly.

Prince Xuan carried the dead body of Su Ran away.

After settling her funeral, he gave orders to his subordinate to be buried beside her after he was gone. Right after that, he end his life. In his last breathe, he said "We will continue our story in next life"
