SCENE 1
A kitten is playing with the flowers by the waterfall in a charismatic garden. A man dressed in tunic-chitons enters. He sits by the waterfall and starts caressing the cat. And after a while the man takes the cat in his hands and makes it sit on his lap.
The man- Are you happy here? [The man asks the kitten]
The cat- Yes,yes much better than my past.
The man- What is your past?
The cat- I am a stray cat. Everyday i steal food from the market stalls and sleep in a corner of an attic. Sometimes i get caught and the owners will kick and punch me. Sometimes the kids in the rally would pull me and hang down from their window but here it is peaceful.
The man- Do you have any wish?
The cat- Wish?
The man- or any unfulfilled desire?
The cat- *meows* It's not a wish but i really want to meet him again
The man- Who?
The cat- The boy who treated me nice always
The man- Oh! Tell me about him
The cat- He's a good lad, Adrian. It was a long day, i was very hungry but i couldn't get to eat anything more than punches and kicks. I meowed helplessly. Many people saw me and left, some patted me and left, some of them showed sympathy to me and a boy threw stones on me but late at night Adrian was passing by me, i meowed. He came and asked me if i was hungry? I meowed. Then he took out a can from his bag and feed me. This was the most delicious meal i ever eat in my life.
The man- Then? Did he come again?
The cat- The next day Adrian was passing by me again. I meowed. He halted and gave the can food then he took out a ball like structure from his bag. I blinked.
Adrian- You know what's this? This is a rug of wool. It's a good thing to play. Come catch
The cat- The rug of wool was so soft! It always nurtured my attention and even i played a whole day with it. The rug of whool was my favourite.
The man- Any more encounters?
The cat- Yes,many. He even named me
The man- So what did he named you?
The cat- He named me Neo. He said because i am a black cat with white patches. Anyways i loved hearing the name from his mouth.
The man- he must be dear to you?
The cat- Yes, very!! After few days he came regularly to pay me a visit and to play with me. He promised me that i will not be called a stray cat anymore. He would take me his home soon. He said i can make new friends too.
The man- when was he coming?
The cat- Today. And that's why i wandered off to flower shop to bring him a flower and then i walked down the street and-
The man- And?
The cat- I don't remember, i woke up beside you.
The man- Do you miss him?
The cat- I miss him very much, he is always nice with me, he never hit me or shout on me, he feed me and he even brought me toys. He always gave me the warmth i craved for. I desperately want to be in his warm embrace. [A pile of tears escape down the cat's eye]
The man- Do you want to meet him again?
The cat- *nods*
SCENE 2
Adrian was running down his house in a rush.
Adrian- I am going to the clinic, ma
Mother- Adrian you need to relax she will have a safe delivery, call me if there is any emergency
Adrian strode out of his house and geared up leaving his mother's concerns. He had been restless from the morning. Having reached the clinic he hoped out of the car and went straight to the desk, his voice trembling.
Adrain- Bella, Bella Adrian she had been in labour pain past 6
Receptionist- Hm here take this go straight to Dr. James.
Adrain without sparing any moment went directly to Dr. James
Adrian- Dr. James?
Adrian said in a gasping tone
Dr. James- Relax, how may i help you?
Adrian- Dr. Bella, she had been in labour pains past six. She's at 9 months
Dr. James-I see
Dr. James reached out to his 90's land phone and commanded "Get the OT ready in 5 mins"
Adrian on hearing was much assured
Dr. James- This way please
Dr. James leading Adrian on the way to the OT
Both gentlemen were striding down the busy hallway
Adrian- She will have no complications right? Will her babies be healthy?
Dr. James- Mr.-
Dr. James in a demanding tone to know his name for addressing
Adrain- Adrain!
Dr. James- Mr. Adrian, there's nothing to be afraid be rest assured this is very common in pregnancies
Nurse- Doctor everything's ready
Dr. James- Mr. Adrian please stay here while we operate.
The OT doors were shut close leaving Adrian with a messy brain. The lights were switched on. Adrian leaned against the wall and prayed for Bella's best health. Out of blue he received a call.
Adrian- Yes, Adrian speaking
As soon as the man spoke from the other side blood ran out of his face. His white face turned even whiter. A drop or two tears rolled down. And instantly the lights of OT were turned off. He wiped off his tears and headed towards the room. A middle aged nurse came out.
Nurse- Congratulations! Your cat is a mother of three and all of them are hale and hearty.
Adrian feeling his fresh blood pumped again into his muscles. He quiet shuttering said
Adrain- C-can i see them-m?
Nurse- Sure sure,this way.
Adrain followed the nurse and thanked Dr. James and the other members of the vet for this act of kindness
Nurse- Bella is tired she will wake up less than two hours. This two kittens are completely healthy.
Adrian- What about the separate one?
Nurse- this one here is a month younger that's why he's kept separately.
The moment Adrian's gaze fell towards the third newborn he felt tears rolled out unknowingly. He gently, very slowly carried the new born in his hands and kissed his forehead
"Neo!" muffling he said. That day, Adrian cried a bit just by holding Neo in his arms. He named him 'Neo' because his physical appearance was literally the same as Neo.
SCENE 3
Months passed. Neo was growing up really well along with his siblings Plum and Sky. He was very dear to Bella. One is he lacked in growth and second he was the only boy in the pack. Neo was Adrain's favourite, he would play and cuddle with him the whole day and Neo was picky with toys. Only he will play with the rug of wool. Days passed quickly and everything was eventually back to fit. One autumn evening, Neo was playing in the garden with his rug of wool. His mother and sisters were taking the 'afternoon nap'. Neo played with the rug. One strand of the rug fled out from the pile Neo following the rug bumped into someone. He looked upwards.
"Are you happy now?" The man asked.
Neo- Very much now i can live my life to the fullest and that is only for you. May i know your name?
A smile crept up his jaw.
"I am Libertas" said the man genially.
Adrain was in the hall. His mother made him tea.
Mother- Heard any news about Neo after that day?
Adrian- In the evening
Mother- Is he alright?
Adrian let out a deep sigh
Adrain- That day Neo died in a road accident on the mulberry road with a flower in his mouth.
His mother pinched her eyebrows in grief
Adrian- Don't worry ma, he came back to me as Neo only. The roman god, Libertas sent him back to me.
Adrain let out a warm smile embracing Neo's portrait.
