The story starts with a boy who has been told that he was ugly since he was young, and was forced to wear a mask. He locked himself away in a ancient castle, and separated himself from the rest of the world. One thing that keeps him entertained is gardening, and he was skilled in growing the most exquisite flowers, yet they were hidden from the rest of the world.
One day a girl in ragged clothes notices the beautiful and enchanting flowers, and wanted to take a closer look. She jumps over the wall and looks around the garden. They were the most beautiful flowers she has ever seen. Seeing how abandoned the castle looked she thought no one lived there, and decided to pick out a few flowers and sell them in the market. A few days go by, and the masked boy started noticing how the flowers in his garden went missing. So one day he stood by the window to find out why happened.
Again at the same time of the day, the girl once again came to visit and get some flowers. The masked boy was furious about what was going on, but he didn't have the courage to confront her. Instead he kept watch over her actions.
Everyday the girl would come without fail, and overtime the man found himself growing more more exquisite flowers for her to pick. Slowly he realized he had fallen in love, but again he was too scared to appear in front of her. Since he was deemed ugly, he was afraid it would scare her and she won't come back.
But overtime he came to a conclusion that he will confess. He came up with a perfect plan. He would plant the most beautiful flower in the world and give it to her as a surprise, then he would formally introduce himself and slowly get to know her.
The flower was all ready, the boy waited by the enterance that evening, but there was no sign of her. He waited and waited, and still there was no sign of her. He broke down, thinking that she must have realized that an ugly man has been living here, and he must her scared her off. After a few days, he noticed that she never came by again. And the flower would start to wilt soon.
He decided to see her in person and give her the flower. This time he took of his mask and for the first time he walked outside the chained gates of the castle. He noticed how no one was scared by his appearance, which increased his confidence. He looked around the village asking around for the mysterious flower seller. And somehow he found someone who knew the girl he was looking for. But that person informed that the girl he was looking for has passed away.

That covers the storyline that I have heard of. To me I found the story very tragic and the song has portrayed the sense of regret and longing perfectly! Many clues regarding the story lies in the song itself. This is still one of my favourite tracks, and for some reason it reminded me of an enchanting fairytale. The song also conveyed the feelings of the man after he heard the news, as well as the weight of the mask.
To me it is a perfect song. In fact it was one of the earliest song I heard before I became an Army. Like I said it was enchanting.
For those who haven't heard it yet, I highly recommend you do! Music has no language, we should embrace it!
