After a pretty hard day Nicole was quite stressed as she had to complete her presentation by tomorrow. Returning from office as she had her dinner and freshened up then stated to immerse herself into her work. ‘DING DONG DING DONG’ the bell rang which disturbed Nicole from her work. She got up and opened the door. “Welcome home mom dad” Nicole said. Nicole’s parents lived on the other side of the city and visited her randomly. “Well, since its late night there’s no dinner left. I hope you make do with noodles” said Nicole. “hmm” said her mom. Nicole found it really weird as her mom was very enthusiastic whenever she met her. But today she wasn’t. Nicole didn’t pursue this matter as she thought that her mother was tired. She cooked the noodles and herself a cup of coffee. She then went to her room to continue her work. While she was working she got a call from her friend. They spoke for a while and then “did you hear the news?” asked Annie.
“what news?”
“oh my god! Nicole you didn’t watch the news. Something very weird is going on in city. Many girls of age 21-24 are been found dead at their homes. Their whole body is burnt. And the surprising fact is that nothing else is burnt. I mean there is no source of fire and investigators are unable to find any clue. But there is one common point between them that is all those girls were accountants and were very good at their jobs.”
“oh! Really. There’s such a thing going on in the city. But what about autopsy reports?”
“that’s the problem. Even the autopsy reports are saying that all those victims are burnt alive and the shocking news is that they died in just 70-80 seconds, whereas a normal person burnt alive may take 240-250 seconds to die. The only clue is that it is a couple doing it.”
“strange”
“You be careful. In case of any suspicions contact me.” Said Annie.
“ what would happen to me. By the way there’s a call coming from last 3 minutes I wonder who it is. I will call you back tomorrow after my presentation. If I actually succeed in this then I maybe promoted to a higher level. Wish me luck my friend.” Said Nicole.
“all the best. See you. Good night.”
With that Annie hung the call. Nicole was getting a call from the unknown number multiple times but she didn’t pick it. She went back to her room for work.
It was 3:34am. Nicole felt thirsty as she was working whole night. While she was on her way to kitchen the lights flickered slightly. Nicole went to take a glass and stood near the tap when someone else came to kitchen. She turned to see her dad standing there. “drink warm milk. You wont get cold.” Said dad.
“ok” replied Nicole. She then set the milk on stove to heat it. Then she got a call from Annie.
“Hel—.”
“ Nicole please listen to me carefully” said Annie hurriedly.
“What happened Annie. Don’t be tensed.”
“ no Nicole our friend just called me and told that one of her relatives is in ICU and so she went to the other part of city. But she told that she saw your parents in the mortuary room.”
“What nonsence. My parents are with me. She might have seen something wrong.”
“even I thought that but believe me she even sent the photo and they look like uncle aunty.” Explained Annie.
“How come its possible Annie. My parents are with me right now. I cooked them noodles to eat and just now my dad also insisted that I drink warm milk to not get cold.”
“no wait Nicole. There is something strange. Listen to me carefully first of all you come out of your house. I am coming to fetch you. We will leave to south city now itself. I find there’s something wrong” Annie exclaimed.
“no Nicole, I ain’t saying you to suspect them what I am tryin’ to say is let’s just go and see. Please listen to me Nicole. There is something wrong. Please come out of your house right this instant. Please.”Annie explained with a choking voice.”
“ fine I am coming out. But you stop crying and send that pic to me. I wanna see.”
“ok!”
Annie hung the call and sent the pic to Nicole. Nicole was shocked to see the picture they were exactly like her parents. And then the call from the unknown number came again. This time she picked it up with hesitation.
“hello. Am I speaking to miss Nicole from west city.?”
“yes”
“hello mam. I am speaking from west city hospital. We are really sorry to inform you that your parents demised in a car crash last week and are in the mortuary room. Please come and collect the bodies.” Sating this the caller hung up the call.
Nicole was in a trance. “Nicole” sounded her mom from behind. Nicole turned and saw her parents smiling at her. And everything blacked out…..
Next morning…in the news..
“one more victim was found dead at her home the same way as the others. Police suspect it’s the work of the same two peoples. A high condolence to the family and we hope the police catches the criminal soon..”
