"You won the essay competition and even got featured in school magazine. Congratulations, Would you like to read your essay to whole class, Cindy?" said Ms. Hannah.
"yes," said the girl with a soft and low voice from the cornered last seat of the class.
As she started to walk to the front, several eyes fixated on her with plenty of questions in them, like none of them actually know her. She stood up in the front of the class with her head tilted downwards without making an eye contact with anyone.
"My name is Ci-Cindy" she staggered and went silent.
"Don't be nervous, kid." said Ms. Hannah while patting her back slightly.
Cindy took a deep breath and started to speak with her low voice,
"My name is Cindy and today I am going to read my essay:
*My best friend*"
"Cara is my best friend. We have known each other for nearly when we were both in diapers. Yeah, we grew up together. She is my one and only friend and I am her's too. We are like the best pair of shorties you will ever encounter, I complete her sentences before she speak and she completes mine too. We always understand what goes on in each other's head. We are different from each other but similar at the same time. We share the same braincells, I guess. Sometimes she annoys me and sometimes we fight but we make up with a hug after some time, that's what happens in every friendship, right? But we are still different, we just can't stay detached. We share everything with each other that word 'secret' don't exist in our dictionaries. We hang out together most of the time. We try new trends and fashion together. Our day is not completed without seeing each other. That may sound a little bit cheesy but that's how it is. With cheesy I remember, her favourite food is cheesecake. I know every her every single favourite thing in this world and she does know mine too. She's a good girl, a little bit sassy though. She got naturally curly hair just like me, and because of that people around us call us fuzzy heads as to make fun of us. But she never care about that. She always says, "I love being myself." She's usually the funniest person but also serious at times, she's straight forward as an arrow and says everything that's on her mind, and that's what I like about her. Because unlike me, she has the courage to face the world. But she always encourages me, She gives me strength. She's the person who made me feel that I am not worthless, she's the one who taught me to live for myself, the warmth we find within each other and the bond we share is something that can't be explained. Even though she maybe a pain in neck sometimes because of her highly exaggerated philosophies. But she's my only friend, my best friend and I love her. Cara is the bestest person I've met in my life. And I hope we will always remain best friends to the end." and Cindy went silent.
Everyone in class were also silent. Cindy looked up and was surprised to see that everyone was smiling. Out of nervousness, she tilted her downwards again. Ms. Hannah started to applaud. And then whole class started clapping and cheering.
Everyone was talking about Cindy.
"Wow, what a great friend you have. That was a great essay." said Ms. Hannah.
"Thank you" said Cindy with a heavy voice.
"btw who is Cara? I don't think there's someone named Cara in this class. Is she in some other class?" asked Ms. Hannah.
Cindy shaked her head as an answer "no".
"Oh then, is she you neighbour? you said you grew up together."
Cindy again shaked her head as "no".
"Aw, so she lives in different place, where does she live?"
As Ms. Hannah finished her sentenced, Cindy sobbed.
Ms. Hannah looked at Cindy and was surprised to see tears trailing down from Cindy's eyes. Everyone in the class went silent again.
Ms. Hannah gasped and paused for a moment
and then said
"hey, kiddo, I am sorry, I didn't know Cara is no more."
Cindy looked at Ms. Hannah with tears streaming down on her cheeks and a obivious painful smile and said,
"Cara never existed."
