"Hi, beautiful. It's me, your babe." Alex said softly in a hushed tone. It sounded almost like a whisper he usually used when they sat on the rooftop with a bucket of an ice cream in the middle of the night.
"I know this is too girly and feminine but they don't have sunflowers for today." Subconsciously, a trace of genuine smile appeared on his fatigued face. The bouquet of white roses reminded him of their first date. Instead he gave his baby girl a posy of carmine roses that time.
"White roses are acceptable, right?" Alex murmured through the gentle breeze. The bourbon-type of snowball flowers shifted from the young man's lap to the cold, polished granite.
"I miss you." His voice sounded like he was in his breaking point and somehow the stranded flowers suddenly struck his fragile heart again. His sore eyes started to well up all over again.
"I've received your gifts." Alex stated under his shaky breath. Last night, his heart dropped when he found out the gifts were from his baby girl. A week after he tried to move on from the person who meant a lot to him, the god decided to tie him with the agonising yet sweet and the most beautiful memories again.
A diary was one of the gifts. A diary about her, about her babe, about the hot guys next door and also the chubby cat at her workplace. He never knew the thick journal with a picture of their emotionless faces on the cover could exist.
"You said you want me to read this here." Taking a deep breath, Alex opened the hard cover diary to reveal the first page that made him involuntarily smile in melancholy.
'Dear my babe, oh my god, this is so weird. Did you get my gifts? I mean, if you're reading this obviously you have received it. And oh, by the way can you read this at my last home? I want to hear it too, it must be sounded so freaking cringe. I mean, look at the book! But I'm your baby girl, right? You must do it.'
He read it quietly. Page by page through the gentle breeze. It was like he was reading a story book to his love one that lying six foot deep apart.
"The first boyfriend in the making." Alex could not suppress the corner of his lips from a small smile. It made his broken heart bloomed with happiness yet the loneliness never left him.
