"Wh-What are those?" Ara asked with a frightened expression.
"Ah, those? I am sure you already know darling." Kwan responded with a devilish grin.
For a moment it seemed the world had stopped. It took way more time than it should have taken for Ara to realise what was in front of her.
They were dead bodies.
Bodies of several people lying dead. Some with eyes open staring into her soul. As if they are still alive.
They looked similar to her age. Still so young.
"No no no!!! You fûckin liar! Don't even come near me!!!" Ara shouted. Her voice was filled with fear, panic and hatred. She was terrified. She was worried. Can she today make it out alive?
"What happened? I recall you insisting on coming with me. Scared?" Kwan laughed and laughed until he couldn't anymore. The night had just begun. How can she a young female with no knowledge of self-defence protect herself?
It was just the beginning of the new year. She just got into her dream college. Everything was going great. Suddenly her eyes fell on an attractive classmate of hers. He went with the name Kwan. No one knew his real name but no one cared either.
He was ethereal. His dark hazel eyes which when gazed at by felt like a pointed blade. After her eyes fell on him. No one can take her breath away like him. Day by day she admired him from far away.
Until one day when he approached her.
"Hey! I was wondering if we can grab coffee sometimes together?" sharp hazel eyes, an adorable smile accompanied by deep dimples, a sharp jawline and board shoulders. He was the dream guy of many.
Ara felt butterflies in her stomach. He was asking her for coffee?! Hell yeah, she would say yes! And she did.
Soon they became closer. Almost going out with each other every day. Until one day a drunk Ara confessed her love.
"Kwan, The college heartthrob! I Park Ara wants to be your girlfriend!! Do you agree or not?"
"Pfft!-" Laughed out Kwan. His voice was like honey. So sweet it was scary.
"You're drunk Ara. Let's get you home first we can talk about this another time." He came closer and took her hand.
"No! I want to talk about it right now! I like you! I have liked you ever since I laid my eyes on you. You took my breath away and now no guy seems handsome to me anymore." Ara half screamed and half mumbled. She shook his hands off of hers.
He wrapped his left hand around her waist and used it to bring her closer. With his right hand, he gently lifted her chin forcing her to look at him.
His expression was complicated to read. His eyes had a hint of fierceness.
"Alright then do not blame me later. I Kwan agrees to become your boyfriend." With that, he gently kissed her.
A drunk Ara quickly became sober with his sudden actions. As soon as the kiss happened he broke it.
Ara looked at him shocked to the core. But her soberness quickly flew away. Her eyes became hazy again.
"Take me home with you." "No," Kwan replied with a harsh no. "I want to go with you!! Do you think my parents will let me inside at this hour? And if they see me drunk what will they think?" Ara mumbled sleepily.
"Regardless of that, you do have to go home. It's very late and you staying out without informing them will only make them more worried."
Kwan said as he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Please? Just for today?" Ara started begging him till no end and it was only then that he agreed.
Ara was wondering what in the world did she think was attractive about him? He was a monster! From the very beginning, he tricked her!! The eyes she thought would be the death of her are truly becoming the reason for her death.
"Kwan I beg you, please spare me. Please!!" Ara cried out. Her knees couldn't go on anymore. She fell to her knees. Kwan was already sharpening his butcher knife.
"Well well well you're begging again? This habit of yours will never change, will it? Too late love. You're the one who begged me to no end to bring you with me."
Kwan turned around. He looked at her with a smile. An adorable one showing off his dimples. He walked towards her. His steps were slow but the sound echoed.
Ara suddenly saw a number on top of his.
"99?" She mumbled out.
"Yes, 99. After I kill you it would be 100."
*On the news the next day*
"Park Ara, a 19-year-old female was found dead near a lake. She was stabbed 100 times. Her autopsy results showed she didn't die because of the stabbings but rather because of blood loss. Such cases like this have been appearing recently Each body with different numbers. Ara's body was the 100th one. Please be careful when going out. Do not stay outside till late hours. That is what the police had advised."
The TV was shut off.
"Hahaha!!"
A laugh was heard.
The voice was like honey.
So sweet it's scary...
