Friends are supposed to be forever . isn't it ?
I don't know if it's just me or does losing a good friend hurt way more than losing a boyfriend.....
I had a best friend ( sorry I won't share the name ) . I met her when I was in 5^th standard . She was a new student and I had a empty seat so our class teacher made her sit with me . Since , both of us were outgoing and extrovert person it didn't took much time for us to become best friends . We loved eachother's company . We used to stay together and eat together . We even helped eachother during exams ( obviously in cheating !! ) . We use to change the no. of seats in our row so that we can sit adjacent to eachother . We were really having a good time and we became inseparable . We were similar in lot of aspects .
So , that's how we were but not every thing went as expected as we got into 8^th standard . We were forced to change our seats because her height was more , so she has to sit at back . But that wasn't where problem was....
Everything changed after a new girl joined our class . She started sitting with my best friend and as the days passed me and my best friend grew apart . I don't know why but she just stopped talking to me and stopped eating lunch with me .Her change in attitude was noticed by the whole class since everyone knew how close we were . They all asked me why we were not taking to eachother and I had no answer since I didn't knew myself .
And to be honest I hate it when someone stops talking to me without telling me why and moreover when it comes to your best friend , their silence hurt more than anything even more than enemy's rough words .
I finally decided to talk to her since I knew I can't reality-test my perception without her opinion . So I wrote on a paper and gave it to her . When I met her on the next day . It was just me , her and one of my friends in the classroom and what she said just broke me completely . She asked my friend to give back the letter I wrote to her as if she doesn't even care . She then told me to keep this letter , maybe I'll need it in future ( I don't know what she meant by this but what I understood was she wished that I lose more friend and then I'll need to give them the similar letter . ) I couldn't believe my ears .
That day I realised that friends can break your heart too . It was just so sad to watch her turn into somebody I don't know anymore or even want to know . How did she became like this within few days ? How can she break the friendships of 3 years like that ?
I stopped talking to her . She was very happy with that new girl and I couldn't help but feel sad and jealous . you know what losing best friend itself is painful and having them not care that you aren't their friends anymore is even worse . I can't tell you how much I cried . Maybe we're never meant to be friends and that new girl she is lucky to have my best friend . I don't even know where I was lacking but now it's all over .
It has been three years , I have changed my city for study proposes and now I am happy with myself and I have become kind of introvert . Now , I have lots of friend but not a best friend not because they are bad or something . It's just I have decided not to have one .
She did made me a good listener and now I am probably able to give you some great advices when it feels like your life is falling apart .
I learnt a lot of things one of them is we should be selective when it comes to choosing friends . People now a days don't know the true meaning of friendship and loyalty .
It might sound childish and clicke but it's all true . My best friend has now really become a stranger with memories ....
I do have a question if you don't mind answering it -
If true friendship always stays , who are the friends that leave ????......
