I sit on my throne as people come in one at a time to inform me of their troubles. Each of them make their way down the red carpet when it's their turn.
I try to give them the best smile I can manage but from the frown on Argos' face It might be a cringe. Don't get me wrong. I love my kingdom but, how am I supposed to fix every little problem in one day?
An old man saunters his way down the carpet before stopping to bow before me. "My Queen. I am here to inform you about the outer farmlands. The drought us causing lots of issues with the crops," he says.
I give him a reassuring smile before telling him I'll try my best to help. After he leaves, a few more people come and go. When the last person leaves, I rise from my golden throne and make my way out of the golden throne room.
When I step through the large brown wood doors, I am flanked by six or seven guards. They escort me through the hallways to my room. Argos walks behind me towards the right to make sure not to step on my long red dress.
"My Queen, I think it will be best if we work on your smile," he says. I just shrug and continue walking. " Well, if the people didn't come to inform me about every little thing, I probably would be less stressed and wouldn't have to fake a smile," I shoot back at him. He just shakes his head with a smile.
When I get to my chambers, the smile fades from my face. If only I could be genuinely happy. It would make life so much easier.
I get to my bedroom and step into my closet. I change out of my heavy red dress, put on my off-white nightgown, and sit at my vanity. Then, I decide twist it into a long braid.
The next day I wake up and make my way to the meeting room. When I step inside, I see my council. On the very right Lady Emmeline, an older lady, converses with Argos and on the very right General Miles and Commander Tyson stop talking to greet me.
When I walk in they all stand and bow to me. When I take my see between Argos and the general, we begin to talk about the kingdom. When the conversation ends, we sit there in silence for a minute.
Something tells me I'm not gonna like this conversation. Everyone eyes are anywhere but me. " What's wrong," I ask. Miles flinches and Argos clears his throat.
" Fre- I mean Your majesty. We've been thinking, and we've decided to bring up the topic of you ruling alone..." before I can even think to react he begins talking again.
" We think you should get remarried,so our kingdom will finally have two rulers again, and it will be less stressed. Plus it will make it make it easier for you to give birth to an heir."
