“Cafe End”
- History Lesson —
Imagine a place where
you’ll belong no matter
what you are or where
you come from.
It has many given names
but at the place I came
from we call it “The
Devil’s Den”. And if you
ask me that’s pretty
rude for my father’s
kind.
You see, where I’m from
there are three main
species inhabiting our
world. There are Humans,
Demons, and Deities.
Before I tell you more,
let’s go back to why and
how that place was
founded.
The first of three
species created their
successors and asked
them on where they’ll
build their land and how
they will maintain the
peace within it.
The First Demon’s
successor spoke first,
“Why Father, I’ll build
a place where our kind
can live without anyone
being our enemy. In fact
I’ll build it where the
other two species can’t
complain.”, and so
Ypokosmos (Greek word
for Underworld) was
built.
Then the Deity’s
successor followed,
“Father, I agree with
his decision . I, too do
not wish the others to
be our enemy, with your
permission I’ll gladly
make the skies our
territory.”, and so
Yperikosmos (Greek word
for Over World) was
built.
The final successor
finally spoke,
“Father,now that the
others have decided I’ll
gladly take the last
option.”,the first human
was very disappointed
but was still
fascinated. He agreed to
his son’s decision and
gave him the land at the
middle of the others’
territories. And so
Anthropinos (Greek word
for Human), was built.
While their successors
were busy, they have
created more of their
kind using the magic
they have used long ago.
The First Demon
presented his successor
with his other kinds as
a present, and his
successor happily
accepted and thanked
him.
Then the Deity did the
same thing and his
successor thanked and
accepted as well.
Then the first human
followed, his successor
had the same reaction,
but asked for a favor as
well.
“Father, again with your
permission. I would like
to grant the Human race
an amount of power we
have so that everyone
would be equal to
others.”.
The First Human agreed
and handed his successor
a slice of his power.
The First Human was
again intimidated yet
impressed. His successor
has successfully divided
the power he was given.
He divided the new
humans’ magic into four
main elements;
Water,Fire,Air,Earth.
He had also stated to
his father that their
powers can reach greater
heights if one’s body
can take more.
Seeing how the Human
Race have evolved so
much in such a short
period of time the other
two successors, asked
for the same thing from
their creators.
The others also agreed
and did the same thing
as the first human.
The First Demon’s
successor provided the
power of Fire and
Destruction among the
Demons.While The First
Deity’s successor
provided the power of
Light and Healing.
Generations passed, all
species progressed with
their lives and gained
more knowledge one after
another. They have
learned to speak, do
everyday chores, learn
simple life skills and
learn to use their magic
properly. The more the
people in our world
advanced, our creators
grew weaker and weaker
and can no longer do
much as they did before.
But before they could
move on, they called
their successors and
asked them to do
something important.
They called them to the
place where it all
began.This is where they
created our world and
the people living in
it.It is a courtroom
like place where
traitors receive
punishment and where the
highest of people can
decide another’s fate.
The Creators have named
it “The Unbalanced
Scales”.
The question to their
successors was
“Why was it named this
way?”.
The First Human’s
successor answered
first, “Because noone
will ba able to be equal
to each other no matter
how they try, there will
always be someone that’s
going to achieve more
than you. It’s hard to
accept facts but if
that’s what you have to
do to continue the life
you have, then how’s
having a little
sacrifice bad?”.
The other successors
wasn’t able to give
another answer after, so
they simply agree.
“You have made me proud
my daughter. Will it be
wrong if I were to give
you a name now?”, The
First Human asked.
“It’ll be a pleasure
Father. Thank you.”, she
replied.
“Eurynome.”, he
answered.
“Father. I thank you for
bringing me into this
world. For this
unbearable moment I will
give our species a piece
of the pain you had to
go through, I will give
them love,
desire,lust,and greed.
They will have more than
what I’ve mention and
gain mortality. I will
assure you, you will be
remembered for all the
things you have given
our kind. You will be
far from being
forgotten.”
The First Human smiled
in relief knowing that
he will leave his people
in the care of the
daughter he loved and
adored for these
generations.
