The first table in a coffee shop sits a young teenage boy of about 19 years old.
It was thanksgiving day. The day families come together to eat and appriciate one another for their love, care, and support.
Max whose mother pass away when he was 16, could only go to a place where he could see people so as to feel less lonely.
Max sits in the coffee shop by the window and stir at the sky for a long time. " what should I be thankful for? my mom passed away 3 years ago and I don't even know who my dad is. Today is a day people come together to have fun with their family, but I don't have know who my family members are. My mom came to this country, living her own family in her homeland. I talked with them for sometime when my mom was alive but after her death I lost their contacts and there is no way for me to talk with them. I am my only family".
As Max continue to think and talk to himself, he heard a voice talk to him. " Hello we have a spot left on our table do you want to join us" says a man who seems to be in his early forties.
Max: Hello there! Thanks for your offer but I'm okay here on my own
Man: I insist you join us. Today is a day to be happy and thankful. You look sad so I think being with other people would make you feel happy .
Max: Okay thanks
Max stand up and walk to the table the man shows him.
Man: Meet my family. This is my wife, my son, and my daughter
Max: Hello everybody my name is Max, nice to meet you
The family all togther " nice to meet you too"
Man: Hi Max you some how do not look happy but no matter what always be thankful. I know it might be hard to do so, however, in the midst of challenges there is always something too, to be thankful for.
Max: Thank you and your family for this offer. To drink coffee and talk with you all, it means alot to me. Bye bye I hope we will meet again one day
Bye bye the family wave at Max
Max walk away happily as he now has something to be greatful for and the more he think about how greatful he is, he realize that there is actually a lot to be thankful for.
" I am thankful for life, I am thankful for having a job, I am thankful for having food everyday to eat, I thank God for his love and grace." says Max.
Even though Max did not have a family, he still has many things to be thankful for.
