When their feet hit the ground, he quickly supported them onto the horse that the other soldier had prepared. It was then she finally noticed people trying to reach the carriage in which the soldiers blocked their paths with a means of protecting them.
"I will be right behind you guys. So no matter what, don't stop for anybody."
Her mother nodded down at him, Tsu-Ming captured between her mother's arms and the horses reigns. When he met my panicked eyes, he gave me a warm smile, one showing full display of his teeth. Without another word, he kicked the rear of the horse, which neighed in response, before it took off and away from the scary men. She couldn't help watch the gaping expression of men who lay dead amongst the earth. "No," she whimpered.
"Be strong for me, Tsu-Ming," her mother whispered in her ear. "Don't break down yet, my daughter. We will get out of this."
