Hazel is a girl that lives with her aunt Amelya and her two daughters Ida and Margot. Hazel was found on the doorstep of Aunt Amelya's home 17 years ago.Hazel never knew who her real parents were.
They lived in the village of Arcamenia. Aunt Amelya's husband Richard had died 2 years before Hazel was born.Aunt Amelya was a gourmand women,she was presistant that money was the solution to all life's misery.Even though aunt Amelya was quite greedy, she wasn't all that bad,I mean she looked after Hazel all these years.Aunt Amelya favoured her daughters more than Hazel.
Hazel was left to do all the housework. Ida and Margot were twins,they are a year older than hazel and they were just like their mother. They always faught and their only wish in life was becoming wealthy.A year before Ida and Margot were born, war broke out between the Kingdom of Arcamenia and the kingdom of Servella.
All men were forced to join the war and unfortunately aunt Amelya's husband tragically died. Aunt Amelya was pregnant at that time and months after she gave birth to Ida and Margot.The kingdom of Arcamenia is a powerful kingdom that is ruled by king Edward the 3rd. Arcamenia has many relations with many different countries.
When war broke out Arcamenia gained victory against the kingdom of Servella. However it suffered great loses. The village had to work hard to restore the ruined land and crops. Now back to Hazel's story. Hazel woke up at sunrise as per usual and started off her routine, as she was scrubbing the clothing outside with her friend and neighbor Emilia.
They heard villagers rushing towards the village center. Then Miss Nanette walked passed the girls and told them that an announcement from the Royal castle was going to be held. Hazel and Emilia decided to accompany Miss Nanette as they were curious. As soon as they arrived,they heard the over crowded villiagers whispering and expressing their concerns and opinions.
Soon enough they heard the horse carriage wheels and the horses galloping and the coach men stepped out. Then a royal messenger stepped out. He started in a loud mournful voice ''I am here to announce that our beloved king has unfortunately passed away this forenoon. The kingdom of Arcamenia has lost its greatest ruler, his majesty. The kingdom shall be filled with misery and sorrow.''
The village was filled with uproar. All the villagers were appalled. Hazel was also very much astonished. ''How could his majesty suddenly die?'' inquired the villagers. The royal messenger continued ''Her majesty, the queen repudiates. Her majesty does not want to announce how his majesty departed this life. It is at will that we will announce the cause of his majesty death.''
Later the evenfall, Hazel, Aunt Amelya, Ida, Margot and Emilia were back at home preparing the meal and they started to discuss king Edward's death. ''What will happen to the village now that the king has died?'' asked Margot .''He doesn't have a heir'' Ida added.''The queen will start rulling from now on'' said Aunt Amelya. ''Why doesn't he have any children?'' inquired Hazel.
''Well they say that the queen can't bear any children and his majesty did not want to marry another'' Emilia remarked. ''What will happen if the queen dies then?'' asked Margot. ''I heard the the queen has a nephew and I heard that he lives in the royal castle, if the queen dies then I think that he will beome the next ruler.'' stated Ida.
The village kept talking about the passing of his majest till nightfall. Then the next morning arose and Hazel got to her duties again, she started making breakfast and as she stared out of the window infront of her, noticed how beautiful the view was, from the chirping birds to the colourful flowers, she loved her village. Then suddenly she heard a knock at door.
She rushed and opened it , Miss Nanette dropped by and brought some fresh baked bread for breakfast. Hazel asked her to join but she declined ''I have plenty to sell at the bakery, you enjoy now.'' said Miss Nanette. Hazel set the table and placed the bread in the basket and started to ponder about how nice everyone is in their small village.
Aunt Amelya, Ida and Margot woke up and sat down for breakfast. They all enjoyed breakfast then Margot announced that she wanted to move to a nearby village because there are many wealthy people there and she wanted to try her luck. Aunt Amelya imdmediately declined ''How could you think of going to a strange place all by yourself?'' asked Aunt Amelya
''I will never approve''stated Aunt Amelya. As Margot and Aunt Amelya started to argue , Hazel went outside to hang the clothing and suddenly she saw a carriage stopping infront of their cottage.One of the coach men stepped down and opened the carriage door and a beautiful women stepped out.
She had dark black hair and dark blue eyes and she was wearing a crown. Hazel was too amazed to even have time to think then the lady walked towards their home. Hazel was startled then she rushed and opened the wooden barrier. As she looked at the lady again she realised that it was the queen, but what was the queen doing here? she asked herself.
The queen walked closer and as she looked at hazel, her eyes widened as if she saw a mythical creature but then she smiled. She gave a beautiful , gentle smile that warmed Hazel from the inside. The queen introduced herself, '' Greetings dear, I am Queen Evelene'' she said in a light soft spoken voice. Hazal was so stunned, that she bowed down and answered in a stuttering voice
''W-welcome your highness , It is an honour to meet you'' stammered Hazal. ''P-please come in your majesty'' Hazal added. The queen looked at her and spoke '' I have personally come here to discuss something of great importance with you dear''. The queen entered and Hazal opened the cottage door for her as she entered.
Aunt Amelya, Ida and Margot all looked stunned. ''Y-Your majesty'' they muttered and bowed. ''What brings you here, your highness?'' Aunt Amelya inquired. The queen looked at Hazel and spoke ''I have come to discuss something of great significance with this young maiden'' Aunt Amelya and her daughters looked shocked and so was Hazel. ''M-me?'' Hazel asked.
''Yes dear, you'' the queen answered. '' Could we kindly sit down, so I could fill in your curiosity?'' appended the queen. ''Y-yes have a seat your highness'' rushed Aunt Amelya. Now her highness, aunt Amelya, Ida , Margot and Hazal were all seated.
Her highness started to speak ''seventeen years ago a women gave birth to our kingdom's heir, she gave birth to the princess but sadly the women passed away while giving birth and so the baby girl was given to a family to take care of her. Not a single soul knew that there was a princess, I only found out when my husband was taking his last breath. I was never able to give birth.
So before my husband died he confessed that he had a daughter and as soon as I heard that he had a daughter, I started searching for her. I finally found her and I am sure that she is the lost princess.'' Hazel looked at her very confused ''Your majesty, who are you reffering to?'' Hazel asked.
Aunt Amelya looked aghast then she started ''17 years ago, I was a widow with 2 daughters and I found a baby girl infront of my doorstep and I knew that it was my duty to look after her, I took care of her like she was my own, I treated her just like my daughters. All these years I spent looking after her without expecting a reward in return. I just never expected my sweet Hazal to be a princess.''
Ida and Margot looked at their mother with shocked faces. Hazel looked at the queen with dismay.''Am I really a princess?'' she asked with concerned look on her face.''Yes my dear, you are indeed the princess of Arcamenia. When I looked at your mother's picture and I saw your face, I knew that you were infact her daughter.The same green eyes and the same brown hair.
You look exactly like your mother.'' the queen spoke with enchant. Hazel looked like she was about to shed tears ''I never in my dreams imagined myself as a princess'' she said in a low voice. ''Now my dear since you are the future queen of this land, you have to come with me to the royal castle.
I will give you a day to wish your farewells,tomorrow morning I shall send one of my most trusted knights to escort you to the castle. I shall take my leave now.'' the queen said with delight.
