One day, going home from school I saw an amazingly beautiful falling star. Staring at it for minutes made me feel nostalgic.
“Hello, little miss. How are you today?” grandpa said smiling while arranging the store's products. “I'm okay grandpa” I smiled back. Suddenly, he stopped and looked at me with a doubt on his face. The doubt on his face is visible or rather, I just can feel it. His stare feels like a professional psychologist observing his patient carefully. “You don't look okay at all. I've known you for so long. Don't try to fool me little miss” grandpa said. Are other old men like grandpa like this? It feels like they can sense something in a deeper way. “Okay..... But, we just met weeks ago grandpa” I countered giggling. “Oh. Right. Sorry, grandpa's getting really old” grandpa said while laughing at his mistake. “Phew~” grandpa sighed after finishing what he's doing. “By the way, I have good news for you, little miss”. “What is it grandpa?” I stopped browsing the store and looked at him. “This is for you. I hope you like it!" Grandpa reached out a box of donut. “Wow! Are you sure?" Surprised, I said. “Of course!” grandpa countered smiling. “Thank you! But why? Is there any occasion?". “Yes”. “What is it?”. “It's this store's anniversary”. “Oh is that so? By the way, thank you so much for this really yummy-looking donuts grandpa!”. “My pleasure, dear”. I looked at the time and is shocked by how late already is. “Ahh! I have to go now grandpa. Bye!”. “Take care, little miss!” grandpa said while waving. “You too!” I waved back rushing out of the store.
“Phew~” I sighed. “Grandpa's really talkative. Glad it's also time for me to go home. But grandpa's the only stranger who cared for me, so I'm still happy. Well, I don't know if he's still a stranger tho”. I giggled. The walking people looked at me. “What are they looking at?” Confused, I looked at my back if there's any people that they're looking. They passed beside me. I stopped and looked behind. “They're kind of weird”. I continued my walk. The moment when I was about to take another step, I realized that I giggled out of nowhere earlier. “Oh crap. Feels like I'm the one whose crazy here”.
I walked to the crossroad where trains passed by. I arrived at the side, waiting for the train to pass through completely. *low-key ticks of the clock counting down from 10* *10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1* As the train completely passed through, a falling star showed up from the sky. I looked at the star… Everything slowed down. "Whoa... What a beautiful scene it is... Oh, I remember hearing a falling star would appear right now at grandpa's store a week ago. It's so beautiful..." I stared at it really amazed. I thought of time, a time when that star started falling. "How long did you travel to get here? When did a star like you fell a long time ago? Did you miss your family? Enjoy your stay, okay?” I wondered how long that star must have traveled just so I could catch a glimpse of it, wondered when a star like that fell a long time ago, and wondered if it missed its family. I hope it enjoys its stay... It landed, landed on a field across me. I died... That's what I thought. But here I am, still thinking about how fragile life is. Life is like a flower, it blooms beautifully when you take care of it, wither and die when not. Even in our darkest days, we still smile, held our head up high knowing that the sun's ray of hope will come. For just one moment, I imagined how happiness really feels. Some memories knocked at my heart and made my tears to fall. I thought how magical this world is. I wiped my tears. “The train already passed, I should hurry”
