It was her 50th birthday. Everyone was celebrating it and was busy in preparation for it. From morning many people were coming along with gifts and wishing her a "Happy Birthday Myra". Whenever she got a wish she looked at them and smiled. The morning passed by with her daughter and son busy in her birthday preparations.
Myra was in her own room all day long without any movement. She turned her head and glanced at the picture kept on the table. In that picture she and her husband Thomas were smiling while holding their son and daughter in their arms. It was taken during their 5th anniversary. She and Thomas had made a promise that they will not think about anything but only their children till they reached 50years.
Looking back to the time she felt it was a little foolish to make promises to people when we ourselves are so unsure of the future. Promises can be broken at any time. Many memories started playing in Myra's mind, her daughters first birthday, the day her son was born, the excited look in her husband to see the kids growing up and calling him 'dad'. While thinking about them a continuous smile was plastered on her face.
She didn't even notice when her sister Suzy had come to the room and was looking at her fondly. From childhood she and her sister were inseparable so when she got married her sister cried the most. To grab her attention Suzy came forward to her and asked, "Sis how are you feeling today? It's almost time for the celebration to start. Let's go. "
Hearing the voice she was pulled back into reality. She looked at her sister and nodded. Suzy helped her to get dressed. Then both of them then went down stairs and accompanied the people in the huge celebration. The cake was brought and cut. After that everyone was busy enjoying themselves. No one knew when time flew by and it was night already.
The guests left after saying their goodbyes to Myra and her sister. Esha her daughter took her back to her room and helped her to lie on the bed. Her son Leo too came to her room to say her good night. Both Leo and Esha sat beside her bed and held both of her hands. They both felt very sad to see their mother in this condition.
Myra had suffered an accident many years back. And due to that she also lost her husband Thomas. They both had enough money for their children to look after themselves without any problem so no hardship was faced by them. But after that accident every now and then Myra would think of Thomas and smiled. She would always say, "He will take me when I'll become 50. We made a promise to look after you both but only I can keep the promise now. "
Esha and Leo always thought her mother suffered an after effect of that accident and so she used to say that. They knew that their mom and dad had a love marriage. Both were each other's first love. Many people said that first love doesn't last. But Thomas and Myra proved it wrong. Even after Thomas passed away Myra's love for him never decreased.
Many people pitied her for waiting for Thomas to come back. As that was impossible. Thomas was no more so it was not a thing which could happen. But Myra listened to none. She said, "He will come. True love always needs to wait for it to get fulfilled. " No one refuted her words and argued as she looked to pitiful for that.
Leo and Esha looked at the clock it was near midnight. And it was time for their mother to go to sleep according to the doctors advise. They left the room and let her sleep. But that night Myra didn't sleep at the advised time. She was waiting for Thomas. When midnight passed she slowly drifted to sleep. But the next morning she didn't wake up again.
When the nurse came to take care of her the nurse felt a cold skin under her body and freaked out. When Esha and Leo took Myra to a hospital the doctors announced her death news. They both were shocked. It was unbelievable for them, just last night their mother was doing. None knew what had happened last night suddenly.
The previous night Thomas had come to her in her dreams to take her. When the accident happened Myra left Thomas and let him go alone. But this time when he came Myra accompanied him. And the wait for their true love to complete had come to an end. After many years of separation their love was reunited again.
