I am Miranda. I lead a casual life. Waking up in the morning everyday, getting ready then having my breakfast and going to work. Everyday is the same as the previous one. Today as usual I am leaving for my work. I lock my house and walk out of my gate. I walk from the gate to the bus stand everyday, it is a ten minute walk. I was just turning around the corner to go at the right side when I bumped into someone. I immediately apologised to the person without looking up. The person did so too, and hearing his voice I understood that it's a guy. I was busy picking the scattered items in my bag. After that I looked up to him only to see the most beautiful man I had ever seen. I smiled at him unknowingly and he did the same. When he smiled I felt as if my heart is about to explode from happiness. I impulsively asked him, "May I have your number please? "
I am not the type to initiate a conversation and that also to a stranger, I was embarrassed after asking this so I quickly apologised again, "I am sorry that was rude of me. But I don't know why I asked you this, I usually don't do this." The guy just stood there smiling then he took a piece of paper and wrote something in it. He shoved that in my hand and walked away quickly after waving his hands at me. I stood there dumbfounded. I lifted the piece of paper to see a name and phone number written on it. In black block letters I saw his name, it read ' LUCAS'. The smile was still on my face and I was staring at that piece of paper when my phone rang. I hurried to pick it up and was fumbling through my bag when the grip in the paper loosened and it was taken away by the wind. I tried catching it but failed. I took the call only to know that it was a wrong number. I was disappointed, this was the first time I had spoken to a guy on my own accord and got his number but all in vain. I took the bus and went to work like usual. The only different thing was my gloomy mood.
The next day I hoped to see him but I didn't.
For the next week I tried to look for the guy in my neighborhood but didn't even get a glimpse of him.
My usual boring life started again and I soon forgot him.
*After some months*
My mother was forcing me to go on blind dates recently. I turned 26 last month and so she wanted me to get married and settle down. I finally agreed and my mother said that I had to meet the guy on Saturday.
(Saturday)
I got dressed up in a blue one piece and black heels. I pulled my hair up to a ponytail and applied some foundation. I did light makeup and left to meet my blind date.
We were supposed to meet in a cafe. I opened the door of the cafe and the wind chime made a light noise due to the air. I closed the door and asked the staff for the seat which was reserved in my name. A staff guided me. My blind date had arrived already and was waiting for me, I saw his back facing towards me. I walked over and said, "Hello nice to meet you. I am Miranda your blind date for today. " He lifted his face and smiled at me, "Nice to meet you Ms. Miranda. Finally I got to know you. Hope the day goes well. " I was rooted at the place unable to move. I didn't expect to meet Lucas here. I sat opposite him still not recovering from it. He started speaking to me and the unfamiliarity between us disappeared. The whole day I spend with him felt like meeting a long lost friend. We made an appointment to meet again in the future. And this time he wrote his number in my phone.
We started hanging out with each other. I started having feelings for him but I didn't dare to confess. I thought that, ' What if he doesn't feel the same for me? Then wouldn't I even loose my chance to meet him in the future? It's better this way then. '
Today we were meeting each other at the amusement park. We met and had fun. At last we went on the last ride. That was the Ferris Wheel. I got butterflies in my stomach but I didn't dare to confess. After it started moving he started speaking, " Miranda when I first met you and you asked for my number I don't know why but I was very happy. I even took your picture that day without you noticing. Then when we parted I was a bit sad. Later I waited for your call to arrive but it never did. So I thought I'd searching you through your only photo I had. At the first month I didn't get any result. But one day a friend of mine recognised your picture and said that you both used to work together previously. Then I started searching for you again. I found you after some months and it was then that I arranged our date. I started liking you more after hanging out with you. I can't wait and need your answer Miranda. "
I saw him kneeling down in front of me, he took out a box and said, "Will you marry me and be with me forever Ms. Miranda? "
Tears streamed down my eyes as I nodded and said, "Yes I will. " He put the ring on my hand and we kissed at the highest point.
After one month we said our vows and got married.
Now that I look back to it I think that our sudden encounter was a blessing. I look at my husband and my daughter sleeping together and a happiness spreads through my heart.
"The happiest thing that happened to my life is my husband and my daughter. I can't ask for more. "
I thanked God for the umpteenth time and closed my eyes to lay beside them. I wish to be together with them for the rest of my life and even in my next life.
Thank you.
