'Til We Meet Again || Shoichi Imayoshi

In Tōō Academy...

"Mhm..." Sainō mumbled some equations as she read her book in the empty classroom.

"Hey nerdy, still reading?" Imayoshi asked the girl who was busily reading.

"Yes and shut it, glasses." The girl replied, shooting a glare at him.

"Sheesh, so mean~" Imayoshi cooed with a close eyed smile.

"I was just gonna ask if you're coming with me to practice, don't have to be so cranky here..." He added, placing a hand on her shoulder.

"Tsk, fine. Let's go." Sainō closed her book and grabbed her bag, heading to the gym with imayoshi.

They walked down the silent halls, going straight to the gym.

"Ne Sainō, would you consider joining the Basketball Club?" Imayoshi broke the silence and asked.

"Mhm? Well... If I were to join a club, that would be Volleyball of course." She replied, giving him a soft smile.

"Tsk tsk, you Volleyball Freak. Well, I'll just support your decision as long as you still visit the Basketball Club." He took a long sigh before turning his head to the girl who's getting teary eyed.

"Imayoshi..." Sainō stopped walking and looked at her friend with tears hanging on her eyes.

"W- what the heck? Do you seriously have to be so emotional about it...?" He gave the girl a disgusted look.

"IMAYOSHI THIS IS WHY YOU'RE THE BEST!" Sainō shouted, clinging into Imayoshi's arm. Anime tears flowing down her eyes.

"Oh my God Sainō, you look disgusting..." Imayoshi mumbled, peeling the girl off his arm.

Sainō's journey in Tōō Academy ended up her, joining the Volleyball Club and at the same time, supporting Imayoshi with Basketball.

Imayoshi also does the same, supporting Sainō's journey with Volleyball.

And due to their closeness, it was rumored that they're dating.

Of course, they denied it. They're just friends, right?

Their journey into second year high school was still the same like the previous year.

But changes were made...

Imayoshi became arrogant and devious. He constantly displeases someone during a 'pleasant talk'

And Imayoshi, he became worse after finding out something...

"Ne Sainō, I can't believe that were almost at our last year in High School..." Imayoshi said to the girl with his usual close eyed smile.

"I know right? We're almost Third Years now..." Sainō said with a faint smile, looking down her feet as they walk to their usual spot, under the cherry tree.

"Oh? What's with the tone, Sainō? Do you have a problem?" Imayoshi asked the girl who remained silent before chuckling.

"Haha! Oh Imayoshi, you know me so well don't ya?" She wiped a tear on her eye and continued walking.

"Let's talk about it when we arrive." Sainō said, placing a hand on Imayoshi's shoulder.

"Mhm, Sure." Imayoshi nod his head and replied.

And not so long later, they arrived at their destination.

"Here Imayoshi, sit here beside me." Sainō sat down the green grass and pat the space next to her, gesturing Imayoshi to sit next to her.

"Mhm." Imayoshi obeyed and sat down beside her.

Silence filled the air before Sainō called Imayoshi's name.

"Imayoshi..." She wore a serious look, calling Imayoshi's name.

"Sainō?" He called back. His smile faded, he knew there is something serious that she wants to talk about.

"Can I get straight to point?" She asked, biting her lower lip.

Imayoshi remained silent for a while before agreeing.

"Imayoshi I..." Tears pricked Sainō's eyes as she called Imayoshi.

"S- Sainō?" Imayoshi was shocked to see her crying. He became more nervous...

His eyes (surprisingly) opened widely, waiting for Sainō to speak.

"Imayoshi..." She called him once again, tears flooded her cheeks.

"Shh... Sainō, calm down. Don't cry, okay?" He leaned close to the girl who was uncontrollably crying. Wiping her tears with his big hand.

Imayoshi was getting more and more nervous each second that passed, clenching his fist tightly...

"...I'm moving schools in my Third Year." She finally got the words out of her mouth before breaking down.

Imayoshi remained silent, his eyes were still opened, not daring to close.

His fist trembled, he wanted to cry with her but he can't... He needed to stay strong...

"...You're not staying here in Tōō with me in your Third Year?" He asked, seeking for confirmation.

"H...ahh, yes." Sainō nod her head and replied, tears still falling from her emerald eyes.

"I'm sorry, Imayoshi... I can't stay with you anymore." She apologized, wiping the tears off her face.

"Gomen'nasai..." Repeatedly apologizing, tears threatened to fall once again.

Imayoshi could only remain silent and bite his lip, stopping himself from crying.

He slowly reached out his arms, pulling the girl into his embrace.

"Sainō, don't be sorry. It's not your fault, okay?" He tightened his embrace, not letting her go.

"Just promise me that we'll meet again, no matter how long it is, I'll wait for you..." He whispered to her ear, tears slowly formed in his eyes.

"Yes... I promise." She nod her head, leaning it into his chest.

" 'Til we meet again..."

When they let go of each other from the long embrace, they felt cold. The warmth that they seek immediately faded.

"Imayoshi... Don't cry, I won't leave you forever, you know that!" Sainō laughed at herself, trying to lift his spirit.

"Shut it..." He wiped his tears away and looked at Sainō, eyes were looking at hers.

"This is actually my first time seeing your eyes open and THIS close..." She whispered, fluttering her eyes as she leaned closer to Imayoshi.

"...Oh?" He then snickered before closing them once again.

"Hey! No fair, I was still looking at them~!" She pouted, not realizing how close their faces were.

"Mhm~" Imayoshi only hummed. He was aware of their faces distance.

"Hey Imayoshi, I can make you open your eyes." She then leaned closer and said, Imayoshi only backed his head away a bit.

"I would love to see you try." He cooed, fixing his glasses.

"Alright then!" She let out a small chuckle before leaning the CLOSEST to his face and...

Giving him a kiss on the lips.

And of course, Imayoshi was so shocked his eyes opened a second before Sainō removed her lips from his.

"There ya go! It's opened fully now!" She let out a laugh at Imayoshi's reaction.

The poor guy tried his best to process what just happened.

"...Huh?" His eyes fluttered, his cheeks burned red. He finally realized what happened.

"S- Sainō!" He stumbled backwards and Sainō just laughed at him.

"Consider that as my goodbye gift for you, Imayoshi." She snickered, scooting to Imayoshi's fallen body and topping him.

Imayoshi's face reddened even more, it was the first time he became like this after 2 years of being with Sainō.

"Damnit Sainō..." He cursed under his breath before pulling the girl to his chest.

"Hahaha~! I can't believe your face Imayoshi!" She laughed, embracing the boy.

"...I wish we could spend more days together, Imayoshi-kun." She whispered before closing her eyes shut.

"Then let's spend our last week together to the fullest." Imayoshi replied, caressing her hair gently.

The two spent their last week together to the fullest. Going to amusement parks, arcades, and many more.

And then their last day finally came. They're now graduating from their second year.

"Imayoshi! Over here!" Sainō shouted, calling Imayoshi.

"Hai hai..." He rushed to her and scooped her into a hug.

"Whoah there buddy, what's with the hug?" She chucked, hugging back.

"I'll wait for you..." He whispered, burying his head into her neck.

"Mhm." She nod her head and pulled away from the hug, tiptoeing to reach Imayoshi's height.

She gave him a peck on the lips before hugging him again.

"Wait for me." Sainō whispered as Imayoshi nod his head, finally letting the girl go.

"I'll give you another kiss next time we meet!" She waved her goodbyes before going inside the car with tears falling from her eyes.

Now, Imayoshi was left alone. Sainō now left him.

He walked to his team sadly, removing his glasses as he sat down the chair where his teammates were staying.

Biting his lip, nearly making it bleed before he broke down crying. His teammates comforting him...

"...I haven't even said that I love her (personally)."

"I haven't asked her out yet..."

"Yet she left me alone..."

"But I'll wait for her, she made a promise that she'll come back..." He said as tears continued to fall.

Match between Seirin and Tōō Academy...

It's been long months without Sainō.

Imayoshi became more and more arrogant. His personality worsen without Sainō.

"My my~ Seems like we have another team to crush." Imayoshi chanted, smirking at the sight of Seirin. Taunting them from afar.

...While his teammates just look at him with a slight smile.

"...Is captain always like this even on his first and second year?" Sakurai asked Wakamatsu, fidgeting his hands.

"No, he's not like this in his past years. Well you see here..." Wakamatsu replied, eyeing Imayoshi.

"...Someone who he really love left him, but that someone is promised that they'll comeback one day and Imayoshi said that he's willing to wait no matter how long but I think that he's getting impatient now." Wakamatsu whispered to Sakurai.

"...Oh." He formed a small 'o' with his mouth and nodded, the others seemed to hear their conversation but remained silent.

"Mhm~? You all seem quiet, anything wrong?" Imayoshi asked, slightly frowning.

They just shook their heads 'no' and proceed to do their business.

"...Wakamatsu, Sakurai. I heard what you two talked about." Imayoshi said as his eyes opened slightly, his expression softened.

"C- captain, gomen'nasai...! Gomen'nasai, it's my fault for asking!" Sakurai immediately blamed himself and bowed to Imayoshi.

"I'm not mad, don't worry. And no need to be sorry but, let me tell you guys..." Imayoshi shut his eye and smiled bitterly.

"I, Shoichi Imayoshi, will never be tired of waiting for the person who I love." He let out a small chuckle and left.

"Oh by the way, where's Aomine?" He stopped by the door and asked.

Sakurai apologized again because he couldn't stop Aomine from leaving, Imayoshi calmed him down.

Momoi calls Aomine on the phone because he is late. He tells her that he overslept and that he is still in school. Momoi hands the phone to Imayoshi and Aomine tells him that he will come later.

"Mhm~ Let's start now, shall we?" The Tōō team came out of the changing room and was greeted by Seirin.

The match started and Momoi seated with the coach. Watching and Analyzing the play.

On a timeout, Imayoshi seemed off. He felt a vibe that's telling him that someone is watching him but he rubbed it off.

Then he received a call that immediately brightened him up, shocking his team.

"Sainō, you called?" He answered the call and smiled. He surely missed her voice.

"Imayoshi~!" Sainō's voice was heard by everyone since his phone was on speaker mode.

"Heh, so energetic today aren't you?" He asked, running his finger to his hair.

"Imayoshi, I miss you~" Sainō cooed, making Imayoshi chuckle.

"I miss you too." He replied, his eyes opened slightly.

"I'm watching you! Do your best mwah~!" Sainō said, making a kiss sound in the last part.

"Hai hai, cheer on me okay?" Imayoshi said, only hearing chuckling in the other line.

"Yes Imayoshi." Sainō's laughter died and replied.

A moment of silence occurred after she replied then...

"I love you." Sainō said shyly and immediately ended the call.

"...Ah?" Imayoshi heard what she said CLEARLY and pretty sure everyone else did.

His face reddened and let out a small chuckle.

"I love you too." He mumbled under his breath, but it didn't escape his teammates ears.

"EEEEHHH!? IMAYOSHI-SAN DO YOU HAVE A GIRLFRIEND!?" Momoi shouted, blushing uncontrollably.

". . ." He remained silent and looked at his team with a close eyed smile, warning them to shut up.

The game proceed and Aomine finally arrived, completely crushing Seirin.

"Yaahhh! We won~!" Momoi cheered, jumping up and down in joy.

"YOSHAAA" The team shouted in victory.

"I MA YO SHI~!" A loud feminine voice shouted, alerting Imayoshi.

He immediately shot his attention to the voice and opened his eye widely.

"Sainō—!?" He shouted, shocked of her arrival.

But before he can say anything more than that, Sainō jumped into his arms and gave him a passionate kiss.

"EEEHHHH!? W- W- WHAT IS THIS!? I- IT'S TOO MUCH!" Momoi shouted, her face turned into a deeper shade of red while the others looked at them shocked.

"I'm back, Imayoshi." She pulled away and smiled at him.

"S- Sainō? Is that you?" Imayoshi asked, eyes shot open.

"Who else should I be then!?" Sainō pouted and replied.

"It's really you!" Imayoshi picked Sainō up and twirled her around.

"Imayoshi~ I'm gonna get dizzy!" She cooed, burying her face in his neck.

He stopped twirling her and let her go.

"Ne ne, Imayoshi. Congrats on winning!" Sainō said, smiling brightly at Imayoshi.

"...Arigatō, this is the best gift I received now." Once again, he pulled her into an embrace.

"Imayoshi."

"I love you..." She whispered in his ear, making him blush.

"I love you too." He whispered back, earning a chuckle from Sainō.

"Oi oi, stop being so lovey-dovey here! Get a damn room." Aomine growled, making a disgusted look at the two.

"Ara~? So grumpy, aren't you happy for your dear captain that he finally saw his dearest once again?" Sainō cooed in a sarcastic manner, ticking Someone off.

"Tsk." He spat a 'tsk' and stomped away.

"Imayoshi-san! Is she your girlfriend!?" Momoi asked, excitement was heard from her tone.

"Ask her if she is my girlfriend or not." He replied, glancing at the girl who was clinging into his arms.

"So... Err, are you his girlfriend?" She asked, avoiding the girl's gaze.

"Glasses right here still haven't asked me out since he got no balls to do it, so no. We're not dating... Y e t" Sainō replied, whispering the last part.

"Then, be my girlfriend. I'm not taking no as an answer. Then let's go out." Imayoshi said, scooping the girl up bridal style and running away.

"Oh Imayoshi~ You know I'd answer yes if you asked me out." She whispered as she clung into his neck.

"...What just happened?" Sakurai shyly asked the team, scratching his neck.

"Honestly, I don't know..." Wakamatsu replied, staring at the door where the two ran away at.

"Uhwuaaaahhh~ Imayoshi-san's girlfriend is SOOOO pretty!" Momoi shouted, fangirling at the couple who just left the gym.

"Too bad captain got her before us." A teammate said, sighing deeply.
