It started with a single rose. A bright red rose appeared on her desk one morning, with a small note: "You're as lovely as a rose... but way less thorny." She rolled her eyes but couldn't help but smile a little. Who was this secret admirer in her class?
The next day, another prank: a rubber duck perched on her textbook, with a note that said, "You quack me up, even when you're serious." The notes continued: a bag of chips ("You're all that and a bag of chips!") tucked into her backpack, a silly meme printed out ("Just thought you'd appreciate this") left on her chair, and so on.
Her friend, always nosy, would tease her endlessly between classes. "Who's the lucky guy? Is he cute? Does he have a sense of humor?" She always brushed it off, but secretly, she was starting to look forward to the daily surprises.
Then came the cheesecake. A slice of her favorite cheesecake appeared on her desk during lunch with the note: "Cheesecake for my sweetcakes." She couldn't help but smile, but her friend gave her a knowing look and was about to make another comment when she gave her a "don't ruin this" face.
A few days later, a strawberry smoothie appeared on her desk before class with a note: "Heard you like strawberry smoothies. Thought you could use a little sweetness to get through the day. - Your Secret Admirer"
But then, the gifts stopped. Days went by, and her desk was just... empty. She found herself glancing around the classroom, hoping for another surprise, but there was nothing. She was disappointed. She had been expecting something.
Then, one evening after class, as she was heading out of the room, she saw him. He was leaning against the doorway, holding a book. Not just any book, but a book by her favorite author. As she got closer, she saw that the book was covered in sticky notes. She took the book from him, her heart pounding, and started reading the notes.
