I woke up because I couldn’t breathe.
Not in a dramatic, poetic way.
Like—actually couldn’t breathe.
Something heavy was on top of me.
Warm.
Alive.
Breathing.
“…What the hell—”
I opened my eyes.
And immediately wished I didn’t.
Because on top of me…
was him.
The top student.
The student council president.
The guy every teacher loved and every student feared.
Perfect grades. Perfect face. Perfect everything.
And currently drooling on my shoulder.
“WHY ARE YOU IN MY BED?!” I screamed.
He didn’t even flinch.
Instead, he tightened his arms around my waist and mumbled—
“Five more minutes…”
FIVE. MORE. MINUTES?!
EXCUSE ME?!
I tried pushing him off.
Didn’t work.
I tried kicking him.
Didn’t work.
I even tried rolling off the bed—
We both fell.

Now we were on the floor.
Still tangled.
Still too close.

He slowly opened his eyes.

Like this was completely normal.
“…Good morning.”
“DON’T ‘GOOD MORNING’ ME—WHY ARE YOU IN MY HOUSE?!”
He sat up, fixing his hair like he wasn’t just illegally cuddling me five seconds ago.
“You left your window open.”
“…So you broke in?!”
“I prefer the term entered quietly.”
I stared at him.
“You’re insane.”
He nodded.
“Yes.”
…At least he’s self-aware.
“Wait—HOW DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHERE I LIVE?!”
“You wrote your address on your notebook.”
“…That was for school.”
“Yes.”
“And you memorized it?!”
“Yes.”
“WHY?!”
He looked at me like I was the weird one.
“Because you’re interesting.”
No.
No no no.
That’s not a normal answer.
That’s a red flag.
That’s a whole parade of red flags.
“Okay, listen,” I said, grabbing my head. “You need to leave. Now. Before my parents wake up and think I’m secretly dating the student council president.”
He paused.
“…Dating?”
“NO—NOT DATING—I MEAN—WAIT—”
Too late.
His eyes lit up.
Actually lit up.
“I don’t mind.”
“I DO?!”
He stood up, then suddenly leaned closer.
Way too close.
Again.
“If we were dating,” he said calmly, “I wouldn’t need to sneak in.”
My brain stopped working.
Completely.
“…You’re joking, right?”
Silence.
“…Right?”
He smiled.
And that was worse than any answer.
“See you at school,” he said, heading toward my window like a criminal.
Then he stopped.
Turned back.
“Oh, and…”
He walked back.
Grabbed my chin.
And kissed me.
ON. THE. LIPS.
My soul left my body.
“…Now we’re even,” he said casually.
And then he jumped out the window.
I stood there.
Frozen.
Confused.
Emotionally destroyed.
“…WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!”
And that…
was how my peaceful high school life ended.
