My name is Mia, and I have four older brothers. They are not just any brothers; they are overprotective, charming, and incredibly rich. Ever since our parents passed away in a tragic car accident, they have taken on the role of my guardians, acting like an eagle protecting its egg. But instead of feeling safe, sometimes I feel trapped in their protective embrace.
My brothers are Ethan, the oldest and the most serious; Jake, the fun and adventurous one; Liam, the gentle and kind soul; and finally, Noah, the youngest who is incredibly smart. Each of them has their own way of showing they care, and unfortunately, they all share a deep dislike for any boyfriend I ever bring home.
It all started two years ago when I began dating a guy named Ryan. He was charming, funny, and made me feel alive. I still remember the day I introduced him to my brothers.
"Hey guys, this is Ryan," I said nervously, glancing at my brothers’ stern faces.
"Nice to meet you," Ryan said, extending his hand.
Ethan stepped forward and shook Ryan's hand, but his grip was firm. "What are your intentions with my sister?"
"Um, I just want to take her out and have a good time," Ryan replied, clearly intimidated.
"Good time? What does that mean?" Jake leaned in, his eyes narrowing.
"Just dinner," I interrupted, sensing the tension in the room. "Can you guys chill for a second?"
“Well, Mia, we need to protect you,” Liam said softly, trying to smooth things over. “Remember what happened in high school?”
With that, all of my brothers looked at me knowingly. It had not been a good experience. I was too young and naïve; I fell for someone who only wanted my money and my family name.
Despite their disapproval, I continued seeing Ryan. He made me happy, and I felt like I had to stand up for myself. But my brothers had other plans.
A few days later, Ryan called me, sounding upset. “Mia, can we talk? I think we need to take a break.”
“Why?” I asked, feeling my heart drop.
“I don’t think your brothers like me, and I don’t want to make things complicated,” he said.
“What did they do?” I asked, already knowing the answer.
“Nothing… But they made it clear they don’t see me as a good fit for you,” Ryan replied, sounding defeated.
“They can’t control my life! I like you!” I shouted into the phone.
“I don’t want to cause trouble. I think it’s best if we just break up,” Ryan said before hanging up.
I felt like my heart had been ripped apart. I stormed into the living room where my brothers were watching TV.
“Did you scare him off?” I yelled.
Noah looked up with wide eyes. “We might have done a little bit of talking,” he said sheepishly.
“A little talking? You made him cry!” I shouted.
Ethan crossed his arms. “Mia, he wasn’t right for you. We only want what’s best.”
Liam looked at me with concern. “He just seemed like he would hurt you.”
“I don’t care! He was my boyfriend! You can’t treat everyone like a threat!” I screamed, tears forming in my eyes.
“Maybe we should pay him a visit,” Jake suggested with a mischievous smile.
“No! You are not going to terrorize him!” I yelled, horrified at the thought.
That night, I cried myself to sleep. I felt so alone. My brothers loved me, but their form of love felt suffocating. The next day, I decided that enough was enough. I was not going to let them control my life.
I started dating someone new, named Alex. He was charming in his way, not as flashy as Ryan, but he treated me with respect. The first time he came over, I was nervous.
“Just act normal,” I told myself as I opened the door.
“Hey, Mia! Nice place you’ve got here,” Alex said, smiling.
Before I could respond, my brothers appeared, acting as if they just happened to be in the room.
“Hey, you must be Alex,” Ethan said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “What’s your plan with our sister?”
“Just hanging out, nothing serious,” Alex said, attempting to stay calm.
Liam interrupted, “We like to keep things safe around here.”
“Why don’t you two go to the games room?” Jake suggested, his eyes glinting mischievously.
“What’s going on? Why are you all here?” I demanded, feeling my heart race.
“It’s a family thing,” Noah said innocently.
For the next few minutes, they fired questions at Alex, each more pointed than the last. Finally, Alex stood up.
“I think I should go,” he said, his voice shaky.
“No! You can’t just leave!” I yelled, but he was already out the door.
“See, we told you he wasn’t the right guy,” Ethan said smugly.
“I’m done! You guys need to back off!” I cried, storming off to my room.
After that confrontation, I felt broken. I loved my brothers, but I needed my own life, I mean am I the only girl with four big brother. I decided to face them.
“Guys, I love you, but you can’t keep making choices for me,” I said, my voice steady.
“We’re just protecting you,” Jake replied, his tone softer.
“I know, but it’s my life, and if Mom and dad was alive I... 😭🤧*Sniff like about to cry a little* . I need to figure things out on my own,” I said firmly.
There was silence. Then Ethan spoke up, “We’ll try to trust you, but it’s hard.”
“Just give me space, please,” I pleaded as I matched out of there heads held high.
* Later that day *
*Four brothers discussing*
I think she is right, Jake said
Yh I thought about it , we all have our life after all 'said Liam , I mean you have almost four company in this town lest not talk about the other town Liam said pointing at Jake' and lest not get started on Noah or me and finally big brother Ethan 'Liam concluded '
We just need to be a little distance we have our house but half of the day we send it on Mia's house I think we really are obsessive and she never complained not even a day 😐I would get angry myself if that was me 'Noah said'.... *They all nodded as they looked at Ethan *
*Ethan Giggles* she grew up so fast you know I think you all are right she also owns and manages her own company herself without us , I knew this day would come but I didn't know it would be this fast 🤧 anyways we all are going to our own houses tomorrow we will apologize to her and try helping when necessary and not control her decision from now on , I know she is also like our mom but mom's need space sometimes 'Ethan said'
*As they all applaud*
The next morning they apologized as they all hug as they all left ....
I beg them not to leave but they said it's not forever they come around once in a while but not as often as before.
Slowly, over the next weeks, I worked on rebuilding trust with my brothers, and I tried to date again. They still had their moments, but I knew they were trying. With each step, I was fighting for my own happiness, still with my brothers watching over me, but learning to let me soar.
