The Man Who Sold Time
Part One: The Midnight Offer
The city fell silent as the clock struck midnight.
A cold wind swept through the empty streets, carrying whispers that no one could explain.
People believed that on the last night of every month, a mysterious man appeared somewhere in the city.
No one knew his real name.
Everyone simply called him...
The Man Who Sold Time.
Some dismissed the story as an urban legend.
Others swore that anyone who met him became rich overnight.
But they all agreed on one thing...
Every fortune came with a price.
---
Twenty-four-year-old Aryan had stopped believing in miracles.
He lived in a small apartment with his younger sister, Aisha, who had been diagnosed with a life-threatening heart condition.
The doctors had given him only one month to arrange the money for her surgery.
Without it, she wouldn't survive.
Aryan worked two jobs during the day and spent his nights freelancing online.
He barely slept.
Yet no matter how hard he worked, the amount he needed always seemed impossible to reach.
Every door had closed on him.
Banks rejected his loan.
Friends had nothing to lend.
Even hope was beginning to fade.
---
That night, after leaving the hospital, Aryan walked toward the old bus stop.
The streets were deserted.
As he approached the bench, he noticed a tall man dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit.
The stranger stood motionless, holding an antique silver pocket watch.
Its ticking echoed through the silent night.
Tick...
Tick...
Tick...
Aryan tried to ignore him and kept walking.
Then the stranger spoke.
"Tell me... what do you need more?"
Aryan stopped.
"Money... or time?"
The question sent a chill down his spine.
He slowly turned around.
"What did you say?"
The stranger smiled calmly.
"I can give you enough money to save your sister."
Aryan's heartbeat quickened.
"There must be a catch."
"There is."
"What do you want in return?"
The man looked into Aryan's eyes.
"Just a few years of your life."
Aryan let out a nervous laugh.
"You expect me to believe that?"
Without saying another word, the stranger pulled an old contract from his coat and placed it on the bench.
Only one sentence was written across the yellowed paper.
"Every year has a price... and every price will be collected."
Aryan stared at the words.
For a brief moment, they seemed to move across the page.
He blinked.
The letters were still.
Confused, he looked up.
The stranger was gone.
There were no footsteps.
No sound.
Nothing.
Only the antique silver pocket watch remained on the bench.
As Aryan reached out and picked it up...
The watch hands began to spin backward.
And somewhere in the darkness...
Someone whispered his name.
To Be Continued...
What would you do if someone offered to buy years of your life for millions of dollars?
Part 2 coming tomorrow...
