Episode 3 – The First Audition
The college campus was buzzing with excitement.
Today was the day of the drama auditions for the Annual Inter-College Competition.
Students from different departments were rehearsing their scripts one last time before going on stage.
Wafa looked at her four friends and smiled.
"Everyone, take a deep breath. We've practiced enough. Just stay calm, and we'll do great."
Fatima closed the script and nodded.
"Alhamdulillah. I think we've memorized all our dialogues."
Kaneez grinned confidently.
"I've memorized them so well that if anyone forgets their lines, I'll say them too."
Naheed folded her arms.
"That's exactly what I'm afraid of. You'll probably say everyone else's lines instead of your own."
The girls laughed together.
Just then, a volunteer walked over.
"Team Number Seven, please get ready. You're next."
The smiles on their faces slowly disappeared.
This was it.
---
A few moments later...
"Team Number Seven, please come to the stage."
The auditorium was packed with students, teachers, and judges.
As the curtains opened, hundreds of eyes turned toward the five girls.
Wafa was supposed to deliver the first dialogue.
She stepped forward.
She opened her mouth...
But no words came out.
She froze.
Kaneez whispered,
"Wafa... say your line."
Wafa swallowed nervously.
"I... I can't remember."
Naheed's confidence disappeared instantly.
"Oh no... I forgot mine too."
Fatima quickly tried to remember the script.
"Wait... I think..."
She paused for several seconds.
"I think I memorized the second page first."
Sidra covered her face.
"Ya Allah... what do we do now?"
An awkward silence filled the auditorium.
The audience waited.
The judges exchanged confused looks.
Suddenly, Kaneez smiled.
"Well... since nobody remembers the script, let's just say whatever comes to our minds."
The other four girls stared at her.
"What?"
Kaneez walked to the center of the stage.
"Mom! I don't want to get married!"
The entire auditorium became silent for one second.
Then Naheed shouted,
"What are you talking about? There isn't even a wedding in our script!"
Laughter exploded across the hall.
Kaneez scratched her head.
"Oh... Really? Then I must have walked into the wrong drama."
The audience laughed even harder.
Trying to save the situation, Fatima stepped forward.
"My dear daughter, you should finish your studies first."
Sidra immediately interrupted,
"Hold on! Since when did she become your daughter?"
More laughter echoed through the auditorium.
Wafa took a deep breath.
"Everyone, please! Let's start the real story."
Kaneez looked around innocently.
"Can someone remind me what the real story was?"
Even the judges couldn't stop laughing.
One of them removed his glasses just to wipe the tears from laughing.
Another judge leaned back in his chair, trying to control himself.
For almost five minutes, the stage turned into complete chaos.
The girls kept interrupting each other, making up random dialogues, arguing over imaginary characters, and confusing the audience in the funniest way possible.
When the performance finally ended, the auditorium erupted into loud applause and endless laughter.
After a brief discussion, the chief judge stood up.
"You girls are naturally funny, and you've made everyone laugh today."
He paused before continuing.
"But this was a drama audition, not an improvisation comedy show."
The smiles on the girls' faces slowly faded.
"So... unfortunately, your team has not been selected for the final round."
The five friends quietly walked off the stage.
For the first time that day...
None of them had anything to say.
They had failed the audition.
Little did they know...
This failure would become the first step toward the biggest performance of their lives.
