Part Two: The Contract
Aryan froze.
The silver pocket watch felt strangely cold in his hand.
Its hands continued spinning backward, faster with every passing second.
Tick...
Tick...
Tick...
Then everything around him disappeared.
The bus stop.
The street.
The city lights.
All of it dissolved into darkness.
When the world came back into focus, Aryan found himself standing inside a massive hall unlike anything he had ever seen.
The walls stretched endlessly into the shadows.
Thousands of clocks hung from every direction.
Grandfather clocks.
Pocket watches.
Modern digital clocks.
Ancient sundials.
Every one of them displayed a different time.
Yet they all ticked in perfect harmony.
At the far end of the hall stood the man in the black suit.
He looked exactly the same.
Not a single wrinkle.
Not a single gray hair.
Almost... timeless.
"Welcome, Aryan."
Aryan's voice trembled.
"Where am I?"
"The place where people decide what their lives are truly worth."
"Who are you?"
The stranger smiled but gave no answer.
Instead, he walked toward an old wooden table.
A leather-bound contract rested on top of it.
Beside it lay a black fountain pen.
"You came because you needed time," the stranger said.
"I needed money."
"They are the same thing."
Aryan frowned.
"I don't understand."
"You spend your time to earn money every day."
The stranger gently placed his hand on the contract.
"I simply offer a different exchange."
Silence filled the hall.
Finally, Aryan asked the question he had feared.
"What happens if I sign it?"
"You receive the money before sunrise."
"And the price?"
"You lose exactly the number of years you choose to sell."
Aryan looked away.
Images of Aisha lying in the hospital flashed through his mind.
Her weak smile.
The sound of the heart monitor.
The doctor's warning.
"Without surgery... she won't make it."
His hands began to shake.
"If I refuse?"
"You walk away."
The stranger's voice remained calm.
"But time never waits for anyone."
At that exact moment...
A giant clock behind the stranger struck midnight.
BOOM...
The sound echoed through the endless hall.
The blank contract slowly changed.
Words appeared by themselves.
How many years are you willing to sell?
Aryan stared at the page.
His heart raced.
His hand slowly reached for the pen.
He knew this couldn't be real.
But if it wasn't...
Why did it feel so real?
He closed his eyes...
Took a deep breath...
And wrote two words.
Fifteen Years.
The moment the ink touched the paper...
Every clock in the hall stopped.
Complete silence filled the room.
The stranger smiled for the first time.
"The contract has been accepted."
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through Aryan's chest.
He fell to one knee.
His vision blurred.
A few strands of his black hair turned silver before his eyes.
Then the clocks began ticking again.
Only this time...
One clock had jumped forward exactly fifteen years.
To Be Continued...
