CHAPTER 1
The Stranger in My Memories
Three days had passed since Luna woke up.
The hospital room was quiet except for the soft beeping of the machines beside her bed. Morning sunlight slipped through the curtains, filling the room with a warm glow.
Luna slowly opened her eyes.
For a moment, she simply stared at the ceiling Everything felt familiar.
Yet somehow, something didn't.
She remembered her parents.
She remembered her childhood home.
She remembered her favorite places, her school, and even the embarrassing stories her mother loved telling whenever guests came over.
But whenever she tried to remember the girl who had visited her three days ago, there was nothing.
Not even a blurry image.
Luna frowned. "Who was she?"
The question had been bothering her ever since that night.
She remembered the sadness in the girl's eyes.
The way she looked at Luna as if she had just lost the most important person in her life.
But Luna couldn't understand why.
The hospital door opened.
"Luna?" Her mother entered, carrying a small bag of clothes.
Cecil immediately smiled when she saw her daughter awake.
"Good morning, sweetheart. How are you feeling?"
"I'm okay, Mom." Luna answer in gratitude her mom visited her
Cecil placed the bag on the chair before sitting beside her.
"The doctor said you might be able to go home tomorrow."
"That's good."
There was a short silence.
Luna hesitated before asking, "Mom?"
"Yes sweetie?" Cecil look at her waiting for her to say it
"Who was that girl who came here the other day?" Luna ask in confusion trying to place it but couldn't know how
Cecil's expression changed.
Only for a second But Luna noticed.
"The girl with the wet clothes," Luna continued. "She looked like she had been crying."
Cecil looked down at her hands and answers her questions "Her name is Dianne."
"Dianne..." Luna repeated quietly.
The name felt strangely familiar.
But nothing came to her.
"Who is she?"
Cecil sighed.
"She's the daughter of your father's closest business partner."
"Oh."
"She's also..." Cecil paused. And lie at her "Y-Your best friend."
Luna blinked. "My best friend?"
Cecil nodded.
"You two have known each other since you were children."
Luna stared at the blanket covering her legs. A strange feeling appeared in her chest.
If Dianne had really been her best friend for that long, why couldn't Luna remember even one moment with her?
"Mom," Luna whispered, "was I close to her?" Cecil didn't answer immediately.
Then she gave Luna a gentle smile.
"Very close
Luna noticed Someone was standing outside the room.
A familiar figure.
Dianne. She held a small paper bag in her hands.
She had come back.
But this time, she didn't walk inside.
She simply stood there, staring at Luna from a distance Their eyes met.
Luna felt something strange again.
Her heart suddenly beat faster.
She didn't know why.
She didn't know who Dianne truly was.
And yet...
For just a moment, Luna felt like she had seen those eyes before.
Somewhere.
Long ago.
Dianne gave her a small, bittersweet smile.
Then she turned around and walked away.
Luna watched her disappear down the hallway.
"Why..." she whispered. "Why does it feel like I'm supposed to know her?"
