I am the girl who thinks too much
about things that probably meant nothing,
who can replay one sentence for hours
and wonder if I should have said something different.
I am quiet around people,
not because I have nothing to say,
but because I think about my words
so much that sometimes the moment passes away.
I find it hard to say no,
hard to disappoint, hard to be rude,
so I keep being nice to people
even when I don't really want to.
But at home, I'm different—
a little louder, a little impatient,
the version of me that doesn't have to
measure every word before I say it.
I worry about little things.
My future. My choices. My life.
Sometimes I need reassurance
even when I pretend I don't.
I can be stubborn for no reason,
lazy when I should probably try,
and somehow spend half my day
thinking about something I could've done in five minutes.
I don't always take care of myself
the way I should,
but I'll spend so much time
worrying about everyone and everything else.
I get attached quietly.
I care quietly.
I miss people quietly.
And when something hurts me,
I don't always know how to explain why.
I want to be understood
without having to explain every little part of me.
I want someone to notice
the things I don't know how to say.
I may not be the loudest person in the room,
or the easiest person to figure out,
but there is so much happening inside me
that nobody sees from the outside.
I'm still figuring myself out—
still growing, still worrying, still dreaming,
still trying to become someone
I'm proud to be.
And maybe that's the most “me” thing about me:
I don't have it all together.
I overthink, I feel too deeply,
I get scared, I get confused,
I fall behind and then try again.
But somehow,
after everything,
I still care.
I still hope.
I still love.
I still try.
And maybe that's who I am—
a soft heart
trying to survive
inside an overthinking mind.
