In a huge mansion, stood a girl standing near the window, She looked out the window waiting for the arrival of the Chevrolet. But to her surprise, there was not a single bird in sight. The busy city seemed dull and lonely for her. She squatted down, not giving up on her hopes, and waited. The sound of a message was the only thing that distracted her from waiting. She opened her phone, knowing what just was gonna hit her. And as she thought, there came the message “Sorry Rose, Mom will be late today, the audit was longer than I thought, I promise I will take you out to dinner later. Really sorry dear I will make it up to you later” she sighed and but was not affected. She was used to this. Her parents were never at home, though they made promises to be there for her, they never were, instead of their presence, the only things she got was messages and excuses. She was numb to this pain. At first, the loneliness killed her, and every time the message came, she felt sad. But she got used to it now. She no longer needed someone… or she thought
No matter how many times, she was stood up, she couldn’t help but hope and long for their love that she had once. She remembers and longs for the love that was given to her years before, she was sent to her grandparents, her dad left for abroad and her mom left for another city to work. Though she seemed happy, she never was. She was not given any love she longs for, she was not shown any attention she deserves and that was what led to an emotionless doll with a mask that made her seem happy. As she grew up, she experienced things that made her self esteem decrease, her mask getting thicker that even she was not aware of her true self and she got more masks and scars. She lost one bit of self-love that she had. Every time, she heard people talking, she thought they were talking about her, she started feeling that everyone was staring at her, and so on. Then, she rebelled, she lost sense of her self and started changing. She went on a road with no end and no way to return. She stated lying, hitting people, getting depressed, bullying others, and all the worse things that a high schooler could do…… Years passed by, and she is still the girl who has no love, or attention. She grew to be a person who detests life and oneself. The more she grew, the more her hatred toward herself grew. She blamed herself for everything, her absence of her parents, for the lack of love and attention she received, for the looks she had, and for living. She was like a bird that was caged in a dark cage not being able to see and escaping. But one day, for good or bad, a light shone to her, which she thought was escape but instead, it was yet another cage. The light was none another .. Alcohol. She was addicted to it, she drank and drank, she drank till she lost her senses. Alcohol being the only escape from her reality and the only way to forget, or she thought, took her life as she wanted…….
Did you think that was the end of the story…? No, it is not, it was yet another beginning.
She opened her eyes to find herself next to the window, she once stood by and waited...She was shocked but happy surprisingly….losing her life, she realized she never once embraced her chance to live properly. She never used the chance she was given to love herself. Who cares if no one has given her love, she can give herself the love she deserves. Who cares if she was not perfect, at least she has the chance to perfect herself. Who cares if everyone hates her, at least she loves herself. And here started the journey of Rose in loving herself. A person’s life might not be perfect, why, the person itself might not be perfect , but if you ask me as long as one is able to love themself truly, it doesn’t matter if they are perfect or not.
