"Kelly! come here," exclaimed a young girl of eighteen years old with a cheerful voice.
" wait..." Another girl of same age walked towards her and smiled 😊 when she saw a beautiful sight of fireflies which brightened up the dark sky giving it a pleasant yellow hue.
"Tara, let's take a photo here." said Kelly and they spent clicking photos of each other while three other friends were setting up the ⛺ tent.
The five of them had come here, at the edge of forest as recommended by others for a campfire to celebrate their graduation.
"Ah...." A scream sounded and reached our ears. The two of us looked into each other's eyes to confirm if we had heard anything when suddenly.."help..." a second sound of cry for help came. We walked with tense steps to the direction of the sound and suddenly the scene that we admired on our way seemed dangerous.
By the time we got halfway to the destination the other three friends reached towards us. We breath a sigh of relief on seeing that none of us were hurt 🤕 or injured.
Altogether they walked to the source of the sound and saw a girl with her head covered and weeping silently. We walked towards her and saw her leg caught with the animal trap.
We didn't immediately went to help her. She looked up when she felt our presence.
"Oh, Rose! Hey everyone it is Rose." Mike said. We were all surprised to see her here. Seeing that she was our classmate and would not harm them the two boys out of three went to pry open the boxes.
They succeeded after few tries with all their strength put into it and hurt their fingers in the process.
" Are you alright? Can you stand up?" Kelly asked. Rose tried to walk but her pained expression compelled us to help her so Freddy, the uninjured one carried her on his back.
They took her back to the place where they set up the tent and applied ointments to all three of them.
"What were you doing here? All alone?" Mike said after pondering 🤔.
" I....I got lost in the forest while going for a walk." She said crying. We didn't ask her anymore and told her to enjoy campfire with us.
" I.. I.. shouldn't impose on you."
"Bullshit. We are just having fun and you are most welcome to join. After all this was to celebrate our graduation." Kelly said.
Rose smiled when she heard it in her heart. 'I had purposely followed them but somewhere in between I lost touch and such an unlucky disaster befall on me. But it turn out right in the end.'
'I cannot let Gabriel stay alone with them. The boy that I have crush for three years. This is extremely dangerous. It wouldn't have been a problem if it was all boys but... I wouldn't allow him to be with any girl alone. Especially in such a situation when one would be in control of alcohol. If unexpected incident occur, what am I going to do?'
They others did not object. They couldn't let anybody let alone their classmate alone when she is injured.
They carried on with the work and everything was set in an hour. They prepared barbeque, snacks and drinks. Soon they played the very old game of truth and dare.
They had were laughing and having fun but unbeknownst to them, a girl seeming happy glared at the pair infront of her. The boy blushed a little, whether it was out of alcohol or that he had to kiss the girl,on her lips as a punishment. They kiss lightly but Rose had tightened her fingers into a fist and blood oozed out of it.
In the middle of the game, she requested Tara the girl who was kissed by her beloved crush to accommodate her to urinate. Tara helped her not knowing the danger that was soon going to fall upon her because of jealously.
They went to urinate at separate place but Rose wasn't in hurry. She had just made an excuse so they would be separate. She couldn't control her jealously and didn't want to see them together after the kiss.
She followed after Tara despite her injured leg and pushed her at the right time. Tara felled into the trap dug for animal with a thud. She was lucky to not have any injury except a few scratches. The pit was big enough and she couldn't get out.
She shouted to let Rose hear and come to rescue her but Rose stood near the pit and watched on as Tara shouted which was going on deaf ears.
She also shouted out Tara's name to put on a show that she had called for her later when she gets out. Tara felt hope but it turn to despair when the sound became fainter. She sat down dejectedly on the soil.
When Rose reached back to the campfire they starting questioning about Tara.
" Where is Tara? Why did you came back alone?" Gabriel asked.
" Oh? She is not here? I..I thought she came back when I couldn't see her."
Oh Gabriel, why are you worrying about her..No..I should not let them find her. She had to suffer a little. I have to let her know the consequence of letting him kiss her even as a game. I will only go tomorrow to search for her.
"No she won't. She will not leave you alone. Where could she be? Oh, heaven. Let there be no mischief happening to her." All four of them were worried and tensed completely wiped off with the joy they felt earlier.
" Let's go to search for her."
" Yes. We should. Immediately. Rose where did you go to urinate?"
" Uh..I don't know... I have poor sense of direction and could come to this place because of the smoke." She lied." But I saw a big stone between two trees."
She mislead them to think of the place which they encountered on the way here. "Rose you should stay here and call us if Tara comes back."
"Okay." She knew she couldn't go with them because she will delay their search and neither did she want to go.
They went immediately shouting out Tara's name.
On the other side, Tara tried to come out from the pit but couldn't. After several tries she sat down. Her voice was coarse from shouting for help. 'When will they came to rescue me?' She let out tears and hugged herself.
She didn't notice a poisonous snake itching closer towards her. The snake reached infornt of her in a minute and bite her legs. She felt pain in her legs and looked up.
" Ahh..snake!! " and she fainted with exhaustion and fear.
Rose had just gained her conscience and came to look for her when she saw the snake leaving her body and Tara fainting.
" Tara!!" She screamed. Tara twitched her eyes in response. Finally someone came to find me but couldn't stay consious any longer.
'Oh no! What happened to her! I just wanted to teach her a lesson but didn't want her to die. I didn't know that my lie could endanger her life.'
