Our house caretaker (Jummai) once told me a story about her grandmother who was disturbed by the jinn.
The old woman used to stay in a large house which had two sections. The main part which she rents out and the smaller part where she lives with our house caretaker.
The old woman was always telling Jummai about the things she sees and how she relates with the jinns but this story for some reason freaked her out.
It was early in the morning before salatul Subh, Jummai's grandmother used to wake up some minutes to subh to pray before the Adhaan.
When she woke up, the bathroom isn't in the bedroom so she opened her door and to her greatest fear, there was an animal standing directly in front of the door.
It looked like a very large snake but it had legs like an alligator. But it wasn't an alligator. The skin of the animal was soft like a cat's.
Immediately she saw it, her heart skipped a bit and she got goosebumps. Then she closed the door and went back inside the room to a corner and sat down.
She was too terrified to even make a duaa. In the morning when the people in the other part of the house didn't hear her presence, the went to her room and found her unconscious.
Jummai's grandma was sick for a while before she recovered completely and went back to her house.
Her first night back in the house, she was sleeping when she heard movements and people going about their normal business. Of course it wasn't normal because she was the only person in that part of the house. She got terrified, her body was shaking and she had no one to help her.
Said she didn't remember to make any duaa, unfortunately.
A while later, the noise stopped so she went back to sleep then she heard a sound of someone crying. The sound was like the meow of a cat but it kept changing to the cry of a little baby, and some other sounds.
She was so curious to know what was making that sound so the woman got off her bed and opened her door then saw a black cat which had sparkling eyes, staring at her. Then it continued making the sounds.
Jummai's grandma got scared so she tried going back to her room but when she turned she saw that alligator looking animal she saw by the door.
Old woman started shaking and there was no one to help her. Just then, an eerie voice spoke straight into her mind. The language was unintelligible. A language she has never heard but to her surprise, she understood what was being said to her.
She turned and to her right side and saw an old woman seated on a mortar and smiling at her, telling her to recite ayatul kursiy.
From the way the old woman was looking at her, she knew the ayatul kursiy wouldn't work on them but she still went ahead and started reciting it. She kept reciting it continuously then the animal sort of shifted from the door.
She was still reciting her ayatul kurisy then she blew it on all corners of her room. Just then, the alligator looking animal let out a deafening sound and hit her with its tail. She clutched it tightly. It hit her again and again till she fell unconscious.
The following morning, the people in the house came to her side to check up on her but they saw her laying down lifelessly on the floor.
They carried her to her daughter's house where she kept complaining of a toothache.
When she started complaining of the toothache, her daughter's husband got her some leaves to use on the aching tooth. She used it for a few days then she got better.
When she started complaining of the toothache, her daughter's husband got her some leaves to use on the aching tooth. She used it for a few days then she got better.
But a few days later, the toothache retuned with severe headache. She kept on using it but her health kept deteriorating.
Which eventually led to her death.
