"Let's break up. It's not you, it's me," she said with a sad smile on her face.
"...Can't it be me? I will cherish you, you know that. I won't let anyone make you cry," He tried reasoning out. Pleading for dear life yet acting like it's not a big deal.
Her eyes started to redden, "I'm sorry. I still love him." And with that, she left.
He was left behind, not moving and just staring at the place where she was standing before she left.
She left him right in the park where they first met. Isn't that too cruel? Why does she have to ruin the place where he had the most beautiful memory?—Meeting her.
She is Xin's childhood best friend that he loved secretly ever since he saw her smile. When he dared to confess, she accepted it right away. Yet just a week after that confession, he was dumped. Well, it was his fault for confessing when he knows that she was heartbroken. She just came from a break-up and haven't moved on yet. He was conceitedly telling himself that he could heal her wounded heart, not thinking he failed to make her notice him ever since their childhood.
He understood that. The only thing that he doesn't understand and the words that keep on turning inside his mind was—what the hell is with her line?! Is this some kind of a cliché story?! Thinking of it now, he does look like a side character with a description of a "childhood friend who secretly loved the female protagonist but was rejected anyway"! Sure, he felt it was painful yet on the other hand there was a feeling that all of this is ridiculous, he wants to laugh. He looked down trying to ignore the world.
"Are you done being sad?" A handsome man was crouching down beside Xin and looking up at him from below. Xin doesn't know this man.
The sadness in his heart halted at the appearance of this suspiciously handsome man. Xin wondered, if he has this kind of looks, will his best friend fall for him? ...Nevermind. He turned to the guy and asked with a frown, "What do you want?"
The man straightened up. Looking at it now, this man was not just handsome but was also gifted in height, has broad shoulders, it doesn't seem obvious but he has good built, he probably has firm muscles under his clothes and his legs are long given his height—Xin has to look up a bit it and it made him jealous.
The man looked down at Xin with a glint in his eyes and said, "I saw you and your sad face. 'Thought I was a bit curious so I went closer and witnessed you getting dumped."
What is wrong with this gossipy man? Xin didn't like it and said while backing away slowly, "I was dumped, so what...?"
The man closed their distance. He said with soft eyes, "I felt my heartbeat so fast when I saw your about-to-cry face. Thinking to myself, if it was me, I would never make you cry. You could say I fell in love with you at first sight." He cupped Xin's cheeks with his hands and said with a handsome smile, "And so, you have to take responsibility and be my lover from now on."
Xin looked up at the man with tears welling up his eyes. Not because he was touched or anything but—what the hell is with these people and cliché scenes one after another!? Also, he is straight! Why is he being confessed to by another man!? Perhaps it's okay...? Since he was just dumped by a girl and probably will not like another girl anytime soon... Seeing this man is so handsome, too—Xin froze at his dangerous thought. What the hell, this man is too good, trying to bend Xin! Must not be swayed! Before that—
He still wants to know what is wrong with these cliché scenes! Is he a character inside a cliché story?!
End.
