◤ …Walking to the gym where your little brother Shirabu Kenjirō, is at for practice, you held his bento on your arms.
"…Kenjirō is probably hungry now since he forgot his bento at home," You whispered, now at the gym's opening it to be greeted by the sweaty players who seemed to just have finished their practice.
"Uhm… Is Shirabu Kenjirō here?" You asked with a close eyed smile, then followed by a small gasp when you felt someone dragging you out.
"…What the hell are you doing here!?" A voice growled, owned by your brother. He had you dragged outside of the gym as his angry voice roared at you.
"Y- Your b- bento…" Managing to let your words out with a stutter, you handled him his bento which he only pushed away, along with you as he turned around. Wearing a scowl at his face.
"I already ate, now go away. I don't need you here." The setter grumbled, walking away from you, not even looking back or help you up.
"…A- Alright." You said with a shaky breath, watching his figure walk away as you sighed, still wearing a smile as you eyed him.
❈
Cold and harsh, that was his treatment to you ever since you came back home after years of having no contact with him.
But you accepted everything, all the harsh words, insults, his coldness. Everything.
You gave him gifts, took him out, everything that can make him happy. But nothing worked.
All your efforts were wasted, his personality never changed at all.
You always kept a smile up even if he was insulting you like crazy, pushing you away, or ignoring you.
❈
"Kenjirō... Why are you so cold to me!?" You asked, anger and sadness pouring out of you.
...Tears welled up in your eyes as you held the gift you gave him. —Which he threw across the room— Saying that he doesn't need anything from you.
You had enough.
Enough of him being cold, rude, and the harsh treatment he gave you.
...He crossed the line, the line of your patience.
‘I don't need you in my life anymore.’
His harsh words rang through your mind. Enough to make you snap and break down.
"Why? You're asking me why?" Placing his book down, the now third year captain of Shiratorizawa BVC shoot a glare at you.
"It's your fault why." He answered, wearing a frown as you kneeled down in front of him, tears still streaming on your eyes.
"After leaving for 5 fucking years, no words exchanged throughout those years. You expect me to be happy for your return?" He growled in a calm, yet hurtful tone.
"You never told me the reason why you fucking left." Lacing his words with venom, you felt guilty and hurt at the same time.
"...I can't tell you yet." You sighed out shakily, voice strained from crying as the male shrugged.
"I don't need the reason anymore since I don't give a fuck about that now." Voicing out his hatred filled words you nodded your head and stood up, placing the box gently on his nightstand and then left.
"I'm sorry..." You whispered one last time before exiting the room, going back to yours and locking yourself in.
Sobbing. Loud muffled sobs circled your quiet room, heart aching from the pain caused by your brother.
It wasn't your fault, right?
It wasn't your fault that you didn't want him to be hurt, to worry about you... Your health.
You were weak, frail, and sickly but you hid it from them, not wanting them to worry... Especially your brother who you treasure the most.
‘Ma'am, I'm afraid we can't cure her anymore.’
Your doctor's words were like daggers stabbing your chest, it was painful.
‘Will I still be able to live long?’
Questions trailing on your mind right after knowing your condition. Negativity welling up in you.
‘...I'm sorry.’
Letting out a small chuckle as you choked on your tears, you looked up your room's ceiling before coughing uncontrollably.
Struggling. You struggled to breath properly.
Pain. It was painful, sharp pain that was unbearable.
"COUGH COUGH!!" Collapsing on the ground, you crawled to a ball and cried for help.
"...[Y/n]?" You heard familiar a voice call —Kenjirō's— before you slowly calmed your coughing and closing your eyes.
Hoping that you could now sleep peacefully. Forever.
❈
Your eyes slowly opened to a white room. Familiar to you.
"...Hospital," You whispered weakly, turning your head to the side to see your parents with your brother. Sitting quietly as they watched in sadness.
"...H- Hey. Kenjirō," Your strangled voice called to the copper haired boy who's eyes watered.
"...Onee-san," He said in a trembling voice, tears streaming down his eyes as he stood up, walking to you in a guilty manner.
"I- I'm sorry—" About to apologize to him, he cut you off with a shout.
Not an angry one, but a pained, hurt, and sad shout. Accompanied with tears.
"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME EARLIER!?" Shirabu said in between sobs as your parents calmed him down.
"Why...Why? I- I would've understand why you left and not go cold to you!" He sobbed out, followed by a train of 'sorry'
"I don't want you to worry," You confessed in a wobbly tone, biting the inside of your cheek as you held back your tears.
"...And I forgive you," You whispered, reaching out to him and caressing his face gently.
"I'm sorry, I'm really sorry." He cried out, looking pained as ever, a side that you rarely seen in him.
"No, I am sorry. I'm sorry that I can't stay any longer with you guys." You apologized as the copper haired third year objected.
"Don't say that! Y- You'll get better soon, you told me that you'd live for more than a hundred years!" His brittle voice yelled as you shook your head weakly.
"You still remember that, eh?" Chuckling to yourself, you recalled the past memory of you two.
‘Hey Kenjirō! Onee-san will live for over a huuundred years!!’
"...I'm afraid I can't do that now, Kenjirō." Sighing softly, you placed your arm down and whispered.
"I'm tired, tired of enduring all this pain." Inhaling deeply, you let your tears flow as you cherished your remaining time and moments with your family.
❈
...Dropping his phone down, Shirabu trembled in fear, shock, and sadness. Tears that pricked his eyes soon fell uncontrollably.
His nightmare came true.
Wasting no time, he dashed to the hospital to the room you're staying. Greeted by both your parents crying, mourning YOUR DEATH.
"A..ah.ahh..." Dropping next to your dead body, he cried and cried. Angry at himself for not being with you to your last breath.
❈
"AHEM!! Mr. Shirabu, the question?" His superior interrupted his thoughts, memory of the past years you've died.
"Oh... Sorry," Apologizing, he straightened himself up and answered the question.
‘Why do you want to be a doctor?’
Taking a deep sigh, he looked at each one of them and gave a saddened smile.
"...I want to help people extend their lives, something that I couldn't do with my sister's case before." He answered with a sigh, softening his expression as he spoke.
Continuing, he finished his words, "I don't want them to suffer the pain I've been through when she left. Regret."
‘I'm sorry, sorry for being cold to you, onee-san.’
His mind taking him to the past years where you were laying on your hospital bed.
‘...I'm sorry, I- I regret everything now!’
Pained and regret. That was all he felt after you left.
Looking at the copper haired male, his superiors wore a soft look on their faces and nod their heads. "...Welcome to the tem, Mr. Shirabu,"
