What is love? " It is a feeling of affection on others." "It is a feeling of being together and knowing you are not alone." Everyone has their own way of understanding what the word 'love' means. But how can a girl like me feel this so called feeling, 'love'?
I am an only child. When I was little, my parents would go to work far away from home. I have always lived alone. I have no friends at school, they all think that I am a weirdo, that I am unapproachable. But I never cried. I am not popular like the other cool and rich kids. I am not that smart like the other smart kids. I am just a little girl who lives her life all alone. It was still the same even in the middle school.
But, one day, when I went to high school, everything changes. I was on the way to the library to study during recess, suddenly, a boy bumped into me. When I was picking up my books, the boy helped me and we accidentally touched hands. "Oh, I am so sorry. Here's your book." said the boy. "What's your name?" he asked. I answered, "Mika." "Hi there, Mika. My name's Chris." He asked me if we could be friends. I said, yes. He asked me if he could go with me to the library since he is on his way there too. I nodded, then we walked together to the library.
We had a really good relationship that started when we first met until we are both in our last semester. For the first time ever, I felt happy.
Then one day, Chris asked me to meet him under the cherry blossom tree in the school's garden after school finished that day. When I went there, he was already there.
The cherry blossoms were falling. Then, Chris started to talk, "Mika, there is something I want to tell you." "What is it, Chris?" "I-- I like you, Mika. I want to be with you forever. Ever since I met you, you were the sweetest person I have ever met! I hope that we can be together after graduation. I-- I love you!"
Tears started to fell down my cheek as this was the first time someone had ever told me they love me. I felt so glad, I felt so happy I answered "Yes. I-- I love you too." We then kissed under the beautiful cherry blossom tree.
Years later, we had a family, a very happy family. And I vowed to give my children something I didn't have when I was a child, love. I learned that everyone can love and that everyone can feel love, no one is an exception.
