Kane's POV:
I woke up this morning. Mom was beside me, crying. I called for her and she hugged me, she was realived I was still breathing. "I lost your father, I can't lose you too." she said. It's not like I have a choice.
I went to my high school like usual. None of my classmates knew about my health conditions, I don't want them to lose their focus on the examination worrying about me dying. But there's something I really worry about.
Lily likes me, I like her too, we've been hanging out for sometime but I can't keep this a secret from her forever, I have a cancer, I'm dying and if one day I suddenly dies, what will happen to her? I plan to tell her this evening after school, when everyone leaves the class. We both stay in our classroom after school ends to finish our homeworks and to study when there's an examination. It has decided, I will tell her at that time.
That evening...
"Lily, I have to tell you something." "Yes, Kane. What is it?" "I-- I have a cancer." Lily was shocked for a while then she giggled and said, "Oh, Kane, that's so funny. Why would you joke at a time like this? We're studying." she continues giggling. "I'm serious about this, Lily." Lily stop giggling and looked at her textbook for a while. "Listen, Lily. I have a cancer but for some reason, I still look healthy like a normal person." Tears started to flow from Lily's eyes. I knew that she was really shocked to hear the news. I stood up and went to comfort her at her chair.
Lily suddenly stands up and hugged me. I was a bit surprised but I hugged her back. "Lily, I am so sorry, really, I am, but if I didn't tell you, I would be burdened with the possibilities of you being alone if I suddenly dies. That's why I'm telling you this, just in case I die, find someone else to replace me. Please." Lily didn't let go of the hug, instead, she hugged me more tightly. "I don't want a replacement of you. No one can replace you, Kane. I love you! Please don't leave me. Please."
"I'm so sorry, Lily, I love you too. That's why I'm letting go of you." I let go of her and packed my things and slipped a note in her notebook while she's busy crying. When I was about to leave she took my hand, smiled with tears still flowing and said, "Kane, if you go, I won't be alone, I promise you." Then we kissed each other in the sunset.
A few days later...
"Class, I am sad to inform you that Kane died of cancer yesterday." their teacher said. Everyone was shocked to hear that. Lily then cried quietly at her desk. Then she remembered something. A few days ago at home, she found a note in her notebook that said 'Open This Note When I Die - Kane'.
Lily opened the note and was surprised of the note's content.
"Hi, Lily. If you're reading this which means I have died. I am sorry to leave you alone. I love you so much, Lily. You are the moon that bright up my night. You are the sun that bright up my day. You are the star that shines in my eyes. You are the light that light up my dark. I love you, Lily. Please forget about me. I hope that you will live happily with a new guy. Love from - Kane."
Lily continued crying and held the note tightly in her arms. "I will never forget you, Kane."
