Kitty Comfort

I saw down looked at my cluttered office desk. A sigh escaped me as I looked on my computer to see all of the unanswered e-mails that I would have to go through before I could finally go home for the weekend. I was in the middle of replying to one of the e-mails to an important business partner when there was a knock on my door. I looked up to see my co-worker, Kim Ju-min, walk into my office. Her sleek black heels clicked against the linoleum floor she walked my direction. Her cute attire reminded me of a K-Pop star. She was wearing a cute black skirt and a flowy white blouse that complimented her dark hair and doe-like almond-shaped eyes.
"Hey, (y/n)." she greeted as she plopped herself down in one of the comfy chairs that were in front of my desk.
"What are you doing after work today? Any plans?" she asked with a coy smile. Ju-min wasn't only one of my co-worker, but she was also one of my friends. I pushed myself back from my desk as I leaned back in my office chair.
"Nothing at the moment...why?" I asked slightly wary at her sudden question. I eyed her suspiciously as she grinned.
"Perfect!" she replied as she clapped her hands together happily. "Because we are going to the pet store to get you a companion." I gawked at her in shock.
"We are doing what now?" I choked out.
"We are getting pets! Did you know to hear me the first time?" she replied with a confused look crossing her face. I quickly shook my head.
"No, no I heard you, but why the sudden need? Why do we suddenly need to get pets?" I inquired confused.
"Because I don't want to see you wasting away all by yourself in your house, and since you won't come live with me, and your stupid boyfriend is always away for work, I think that you should have at least some company, so a pet is the next best thing!" she explained her logic. I thought for a moment before letting out a soft sigh knowing that there was really no way for me to change her mind at this point about the matter...and it didn't sound like a horrible idea either so I finally nodded my head.
"Okay, fine," I replied. Ju-min's eyes lit up as a large smile grew across her face causing her eyes to turn into crescents as her cheeks rose up.
"Yay!" she squealed as she hopped up to her feet, only to wobble slightly off balance due to her high heels. She quickly grabbed my desk to stable herself with a nervous giggle. I rolled my eyes in amusement at her actions.
"Hey, if you get a pet to make sure that it isn't something you can easily break. I don't want to hear about you breaking your pet with your clumsiness." I chided, to which she rolled her eyes in return.
"They aren't that easy to break." she scoffed. "And I'm not that clumsy. These heels are just stupid."
"Or maybe it is the person wearing them." I teased to which she pouted at me in reply.
"I'll stop by your house after work to pick you up and we can go to the shelter. They are cheaper there and they have more options than the shop does. They also tend to be a little more eager to be with you then the shop ones." Ju-min said as she got herself together and headed over to the door.
"Oh! And make sure you look friendly, they can be a little wary of new people," she added before walking out of the room leaving me slightly confused. Look friendly? Why would pet care how I looked? I'm going to pick one out that I like and hope for the best. I hope I'll be able to find a nice one that won't be a huge pain in my ass.
Work went by quickly as I kept thinking about what kind of pet I should get when I went out with Ju-min. A dog, a cat? Maybe even a bunny or something else small. I had thought about getting one before but I never really followed through with it. There was a lot going on with the hybrid movement that was happening so hybrids as pets were becoming mainstream and I thought it was kind of weird at the thought of owning someone. I had heard about horror stories about hybrids turning on their owners, or owners practically enslaving or abusing their hybrids. Hybrids didn't even exist until the last thirty years when some sort of scientific testing created them on accident, but since it worked out so well they kept making them. They would typically combine animal DNA with human embryos and grow them in a lab. Since hybrids were able to shift from animal to human form it made it hard for people to know what animals were actually animals and which were hybrids.
I left work still thinking about it as I got home. I wondered which shelter that Ju-min was planning on taking me to. There were multiple that were in the area. Some were specifically for hybrids while others were for regular animals...some times hybrids were mistaken for regular pets and would have to be moved to a hybrid shelter.
I took off my work clothes and tossed them into one of my chairs in my room that had other clothes strewn across it. I changed into a pair of ripped blue skinny jeans, a light green tee-shirt, and a blue and grey bomber jacket. I threw my hair up into a ponytail and pulled a plain black cap over my head and had my pony go through the hole in the back. I grabbed my black face mask off of my nightstand and headed back out into my living room. I was struggling to tie my black and white Converses shoes when my doorbell rang. I about fell over after I lost balance trying to get to the door whole trying to tie my shoes at the same time. I finally got the door open to see Ju-min standing there waiting for me with a huge grin on her face.
"Are you ready?" she asked excitedly. I finished tying my shoe quickly, grabbed my purse, mask, and phone before nodding.
"Now I am, let's go." I smiled as I walked out and locked the door behind me. I stuck my keys in my purse before I slung it over my shoulder. I started pulling my mask around my ears before pulling it up over the bottom half of my face. Ju-min rolled her eyes at me as we walked to the car.
"Why do you cover your face so much when we go out? You're pretty, why cover up?" she asked as we got in the car.
"I just like wearing these kinds of things, besides I don't want to risk the bad air." I replied with a shrug. She gave me an unconvinced look but didn't push the matter any further. Ju-min turned the radio on and we sang along while laughing as she drove. I didn't even notice that we had arrived until the car had stopped. I peered out of the window and my eyes widened in shock.
"Hybrids!?" I exclaimed in shock at Ju-min. "I thought we were getting pets!"
"We are!" she defended as we got out of the car. "Hybrids are pets. They are even better than just regular pets since they can actually talk back and go out and do stuff with you that a regular ordinary pet can't do." I looked warily at the door as I walked after Ju-min. I had never actually met a hybrid before and the only ones I had really seen tended to be on TV and those ones usually weren't the best representation.
"How the hell am I supposed to take care of a hybrid. I barely know anything about them!" I hissed at her as we walked into the building.
"Then you can learn. At least look around and see. Please." begged Ju-min. I glared at her for a moment before we arrived at the front desk. There was a middle-aged woman sitting there typing on a computer. She looked up at us when we approached her.
"Hello, we'd like to look to adopt a hybrid...for each of us," explained Ju-min as I stood there silently. My eyes scanning around the office space. There were posters with information about hybrids and hybrid rights as well as health warnings and pro-hybrid slogans.
"Of course! Come right on in!" exclaimed the woman happily as she got up and came around from her desk to lead us further into the building. The moment we walked through the back door my eyes began to soak in everything that was happening around me. It was pretty noisy as there was a buzz of mixing human talking and various animal sounds. It was a bit of a strange combination.
"So what kind of hybrid are you looking for?" asked the lady as we began to walk down some of the rows of rooms and fenced in areas.
"I was looking at getting a dog or puppy if you have any," replied Ju-min. The lady looked at me expecting an answer.
"I'm not sure yet. I'd like to look around a bit on my own...if that is okay." I finally said after a few moments. She nodded with a small smile.
"Of course," she replied to me before turning to Ju-min. "Come, I'll show you where we keep all of our canine hybrids. I'm sure you'll find one that you'll love we have quite a few cats and dogs with us right now." She led Ju-min away from me leaving me alone among all of the noise. I began to walk down one of the aisles taking everything in. I would see a group of cute bunnies chasing each other around on one of the pens that had a very high fence. There was a small room that looked to be attached to it and I was able to peer inside to see that there were more human-like things such as clothes and a fridge, a TV, and some sort of game console. As I walked by all of the bunnies raced over to the fence to look at me when I walked by. I met their longing eyes and I felt a shiver run down my spine as I thought about them being actual people behind those animal bodies. I continued walking as I walked past similar areas that had some ferrets and foxes mixed in together and one that even had some birds in it. The last one at the end of the hall was filled with cute little kitties that were very excited to see me as they crawled over one another. I was looking at them when I heard the sounds of a few more animals behind the door that was next to me. I cautiously opened the door to see that the room was filled with smaller cages that didn't have any rooms attached to them. There was only one animal in each cage and they looked to be more isolated. I wandered into the room as the door closed behind me. I looked at the angry or sad looking animals that were in the cages when I came upon one that caught my attention the most. I walked up to the cage and peered inside. There curled up in a little white ball was a pure white cat who was sleeping. The cat sensed that I was near as it sleepily raised its head to look at me. Once our eyes met I knew that this one was the one I was going to take home.
The door suddenly opened behind me causing me to jump. The lady and Ju-min came in. Ju-min had a young adult looking golden retriever on a leash next to her as well as a duffle bag slung over her shoulder.
"What are you doing in here, (y/n), this is the isolation room for hybrids with behavioral problems," stated Ju-min.
"Behavioral problems?" I asked confused.
"Sometimes certain hybrids don't get along with other hybrids or even other people so they end up in here for their protection and others." explained the lady. "You probably won't want any of them in here."
"Actually I want this one," I said pointing to the cage with the silky white cat sleeping inside. The woman looked at me incredulously.
"Are you sure? There are plenty of other nicer cats that would fit your tastes..." she started but I shook my head.
"No, I'd like that one, thank you," I replied insistently. The lady finally nodded as she gave me a weird look before grabbing one of the pet carriers that happened to be sitting on one of the shelves nearby.
"He's a bit of a cold hybrid, I will warn you. Doesn't really like others as he gets annoyed easily as he doesn't trust others...he's a rescue so that might explain somethings. I'll give you his file when we get up front." said the lady as she walked over to the white cat's cage. The white cat looked up and got to his feet when he saw the lady beginning to open his cage. He scooted to the back of his cage and hissed at the woman who gave him a stern look.
"Behave now, will you? You're getting adopted by a nice young lady. You should be grateful." she snapped at him. The white cat looked to be glaring at her, but he didn't hiss anymore as he let her grab ahold of him and set him in the carrier. She handed the carrier over to me.
"His given name is Min Yoongi, but you can really give whatever pet name that you want. Most owners give them some sort of other name." she explained. She grabbed a duffle bag before heading towards the door. I nodded as I followed along with Ju-min.
"Why did you want such a crabby cat? Couldn't you have gotten a cute little kitty instead?" she asked as we followed the lady back to the front of the building. I shrugged as I held the carrier firmly in both hands as I was being sure not to jostle it too much.
"I just felt like he was the right choice," I replied. "So what's your hybrid's name?"
"Oh! This is Seokjin! Isn't he cute? I haven't seen his human form yet, but I'm sure it is just as cute. Right Jinnie?" she grinned at the dog next to her who barked happily in reply causing me to smile. When we went to the front of the building again we got to the main desk and the hyrbid-lady started tying on her computer, printing out forms, and handing us documents for us to sign. I set the carrier on the floor and peered inside for a moment. I made eye contact with Yoongi who was silently sitting in the middle of his cage staring back at me as if he was studying me. I snapped out of my daze when Ju-min coughed to get my attention. I quickly stood up and continued to fill out forms.
"So here is the information files of both of your hybrids. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact us. We will check up on the conditions of the hybrids in about a month to see if you still want to keep them." she said as she eyed me. I wasn't phased by her gaze. I had kind of taken it as a challenge now to keep this hybrid and get him to like me...or atleast tolerate me.
"Thank you," said Ju-min as she took the files. She motioned me to follow her. I grabbed the duffle bag that the lady had given me and the cat carrier. We headed out to the car and loaded the animals inside. I kept Yoongi in his carrier on my lap and Jin was in the back seat staring out of the window.
"You literally could have had any animal in that building and you went for one of the broken ones. Why did you even go in that room." huffed Ju-min.
"Because I wanted to see what was in there and he's not broken!" I defended. "You don't even know him, so don't judge too quickly."
"Fine, fine. Just don't come crying to me when he is a dick to you," she replied. "Besides you can always come to hang out with Jin and I. Isn't that right?" She got another happy bark in reply which made her grin. It wasn't long before we got back to my house where she dropped me off.
"Let me know how it goes...and oh! make sure to send me a pic of what he looks like as a human!" she hollered before she drove off. I rolled my eyes before walking up the steps to my front door. I set the cat carrier down as I fished my keys out of my purse as I dropped the duffel bag on the ground. I unlocked the door and tossed the duffel bag inside before picking up the cat carrier and bring it in with me. I closed the door behind me and flicked the lock before bringing the carrier into my living room. I gently set it down and crossed my fingers before opening the carrier door.
I watched closely as I stepped away from the open cat carrier to observe what he would do. It took a minute or two, but he finally slinked slowly out of the carrier as he stepped out onto the tan carpet. He stretched out his front then back paws as the felt the carpet between his toes for a moment. I decided that I should give him some time to roam around as I figured out where to put all of his stuff and read through his file. I could only hope that he wouldn't get into too much trouble at this point. I went over and grabbed his duffle bag as I went over to my guest room and plopped it down on the bed. I didn't really want to open it as I felt like I would be invading his privacy. He could figure his own stuff out when he was ready.
I went back out towards the kitchen to try and figure out what to make for dinner. I didn't really know much about hybrids so I didn't know if he would want human food or cat food. I decided that it would be best to look it up. I pulled out my phone and began to search around on hybrids and what they eat. It said tht they usually prefer human food, but some who are more in touch with their anumal instincts like traditional pet food.
I finally settled on just making regular human food and crossing my fingers that he would actually eat it. As I walked back out into the living room he was walking across the back of my couch. He froze as he made eye contact with me. Neither of us moved or even blinked as we held eye contact in the middle of the room.
"Hi...um...I'm uh, (y/n)...if you didn't already know. Look I don't really know a whole lot about hybrids so please be patient with me. I will do my best." I promised with a small smile as I broke the silence. He just blinked at me, still not moving. I waited another minute to see if he would respond in someway like Ju-min's hybrid did...but he did not. I let out a soft sigh in dissapointment.
"Dinner will be ready in like twenty minutes...so um I don't know if you eat in your cat form or what. So you can do whatever you want. I'll make sure to make you something either way." I babbled at him before heading back out to the kitchen. I made dinner fairly quickly and as I was putting food out on the table low and behold Mr. Silent came slinking in and hopped right up onto the table next to his plate. I couldn't help but watch him curiously as I sat down to my own food. I watched him cautiously sniff his food I ate silently, trying not to let him notice me observing him out of the corner of my eye. It took him a few minutes of him circling the plate before he finally started eating anything. He was actually pretty freaking cute when he wasn't staring me down.
I was really tempted to reach over and pet him, but I knew better so I restrained myself. I was worried that I might set him off if I touched him. I finished eating to look over and see him as looking down at his now empty plate.
"Do you...want some more?" I asked him. He looked up at me and cocked his head to the side as almost as if he was confused by my question.
"I have more food left if you want something more to eat." I promptedfurther. He just blinked at me for a moment before hopping down from the table and heading back into the living room. I let out another sigh before cleaning up the dishes and putting them away in the cupboards after they were washed. I dried my hands before heading back out to the living room to see Yoongi sitting in the windowsill watching the cars driving by outside. I was determined to not let his demenor deter me. I walked over to him and his head snapped in my direction as I neared him.
"I thought you might want to see where your room is. Or at least a mini tour of the house." I explained softly to him. I didn't know for sure if he really could understand me, but he hopped down from the window and landed softly by my feet. I took this as a sign that he was going to follow me so I began to walk further into the house.
"Well, this room is the kitchen...obviously. That room at the end of the hall is the bathroom. This room here is yours." I said as I opened the door to his new room. I watched him as he hopped up onto the guest bed and sniffed his duffel bag before looking at me almost accusingly. I put my hands up in surrender.
"Hey now, I haven't opened or touched any of your things." I defended. He stared at me for a moment before seeming satisfied with my answer and going back to explore more of his new room. I decided to let him explore on his own as I headed back to my own room to start getting ready for bed. I shut the door behind me and quickly grabbed some clean pajamas before heading off into my bathroom. I showered and got myself ready for bed. I wondered if Yoongi would need to shower or how he would get clean or use the bathroom. Did I need to get a litterbox? I really hope he knows how to use a toilet. I walked out of the bathroom and back to my room. I tossed my dirty clothes into my laundry hamper before turning back to my bed. I let out a shocked squeak when I saw a little white cat curled up on my bed.
"Yoongi, you have your very own bed you know," I stated as I looked at him with my hands on my hips. He just looked at me lazily before putting his head back down on his little white paws and closing his eyes again. I let out an annoyed groan before climbing into my bed.
"Aish! This cat..." I scoffed to myself. "Fine, Whatever. It'll be your own fault if I roll over and squish you." I warned him as I pulled the blanket over myself. I shut my light off as I pulled my phone out and began to look at funny pictures on Pinterest. I suddenly felt a warm presence next to my face and I flicked my eyes over to see Yoongi curling up by my head so that he could see what was on my phone. I couldn't help but feel a small smile flick across my lips as I didn't say a word about him coming up next to me. It didn't take long until he had somehow moved down so that he was now sleeping curled up against my side and I had now put my phone away. I internally 'awed' at how cute he was, even in the darkness of the room. I let myself drift off to sleep thinking's I about the cute white cat sleeping next to me.
It has been almost three weeks now and Yoongi still hadn't shifted out of his cat form...at least not when I've been home. I know he has shifted when I am at work because recently I will come home to the laundry machine running or even the occasion food waiting for me on the table, but whenever I was home he would usually keep to himself, or he would just watch me around the house. I could feel that he was warming up to me, but I was still a little disappointed that he wouldn't shift when I am home so I could actually talk to him or at least know what he looks like.
I had met Ju-min's hybrid, Jin, in person now and he was one of the most beautiful men I had ever seen. He was tall with blonde hair, perfect skin, great physic, and was super nice. He would always stick to her side and even take care of her when she was at home and loved to work around the house and cook. I, on the other hand, would just get excited when Yoongi would come to sit on the same couch as me for more than twenty minutes. He usually would sit in the windowsill or would be sleeping somewhere random in the house although he seemed to prefer my bed or the couch as his favorite places to nap. He was a pretty chill hybrid in all honesty.
I had read through his file multiple times which I kept in my desk at work as I didn't want to lose it somewhere in my house. It read:
Name: Min Yoongi
Age: 25
Race: Korean White Cat Hybrid
Height: 5'8.5
Weight: 130lbs
Hair color: Black
Likes: Sleeping, warmth, music, the color white, nighttime, photography, basketball, comics, playing games
Dislikes: people, loud or obnoxious noises, being touched, being held, other hybrids, crowds,
Notes: Min Yoongi avoids others as he doesn't like to socialize and likes to try and keep to himself. He has been known to be aggressive if provoked. Usually will not respond or will ignore other people and hybrids. Was rescued from an abusive home where he was verbally and physically abused. It is probably why he avoids being touched and talking to others.
After reading his file I was very careful around him, as I didn't want to freak him out or make him uncomfortable. I tried my best to help him adjust to living with me and to not bring up bad memories of whatever he might have been through in his past.
I got a text from my boyfriend, Seukin, who was finally back in town.He was constantly traveling as a part of his work. He wanted me to meet him at one of the bars we would usually go to together after I got off of work. I couldn't help but feel excited as I finished working and headed off to my car. I hadn't seen Seukin in several weeks. It was one of the reasons that Ju-min was so adamant on me getting Yoongi to keep me company. Since I didn't live with Seukin and he was usually gone. I got to the bar and saw Seukin sitting at the counter on one of the bar stools.
"Seukin-Oppa!" I called as I scurried over to him. He turned around on his chair to look at me as he saw me coming his way. I was all smiles but he didn't return them. My smile began to fade as I look at his face.
"What's wrong?" I asked as I quickly searched his face. "Did something happen? Are you hurt? Did someone die?"
"No, no. (y/n) its not...look come to sit." he ushered me to the stool next to him. I hopped up and set my purse on the bar counter. He slid a shot over to me and had one in front of himself. I gave him a confused look as I took the drink.
"What's this for?" I asked holding the shot in confusion.
"You're going to want to take it before I tell you what I need to tell you." He said as he gave me a look. I hesitantly tipped back and took the shot like a champ. I didn't usually drink, but I still knew what I was doing. I was of age and the bar was a common meet up a place amongst adults.
"What do you need to tell me?" I asked curiously as the burn of the alcohol was still in my throat. He let out a sigh.
"Look, (y/n) I just...I think we should take a break," he said suddenly. I nearly choked on my own spit at his words. I was shocked.
"Excuse me?" I choked. "What brought this on? What did I do? Did something happen?"
"No, no...its not you... it's just...I don't think we get to see each other enough and I don't think that it is fair for you or for me..." he replied. "Look," he said running his hand through his hair. "I just don't want you to miss out on other opportunities with other guys because you are waiting for me to come back and I just...I'm just not....I'm sorry (y/n)" he apologized as his voice cracked. I felt anger well up in my chest.
"Are you fucking kidding me!? We have spent the last two years on each other and now you suddenly want to let go of all of that!? Why are you suddenly coming to this realization now!?" I yelled.
"Shhhh, please. (y/n) I'm Sorry!...I know I shouldn't have waited this long...(y/n)" pleaded Seukin trying to calm me down.
"No...just leave me the fuck alone." I hissed as I turned away from him trying not to show him the hurt I was feeling and the tears I was trying to stop from coming.
"(y/n..." he tried to apologize again. I glared at him but I could still feel the tears beginning to prick in my eyes so I quickly looked back at my hands in my lap.
"Just leave, leave me alone." I choked out. I heard him become quiet behind me as he stood up.
"I really am sorry (y/n)." He said softly before finally leaving. The bartended plopped a bottle of soju and a shot glass in front of me. I looked up at her through my teary eyes.
"It's on the house," she told me with a sympathetic smile. "He was an idiot to let a girl like you go," she said before walking off to serve some more customers. I sniffed as I poured myself a shot and downed it. Fuck Seukin...
It was nearly midnight when the taxi driver finally brought me home. The lady who had been my bar tender called the taxi to bring me home. I could barely see straight as I stumbled into the house in the dark and somehow had managed to lock the door behind me. The floor started to look really inviting as staggered over to my couch and plopped down, kicking my heels off to the side and faceplanting one of my pillows as I let out a muffled sob.
"Stupid, mother fucking, ass hole!" I yelled aloud to no one in particular as I felt rage fill me. I was suddenly back on my feet as I stomped off to my room. I practically ripped my dress off as I threw in the corner of my room. I was so pissed and intoxicated at the moment that I didn't even care how bad my tear-streaked makeup looked or how drunk I was. I was a hot mess. I picked up the picture that I had of Seukin and me from my nightstand and threw it at the wall causing it to shatter.
I started crying again as I sat on my bed in nothing but my bra and underwear. My hair and face were a mess. I sobbed into my hands when I suddenly felt the bed dip down behind me and a pair of arms wrap around me from behind. I froze in shock as I lifted my head out of my hands. I looked down to see a pair of slim, toned, pale arms wrapped around me. It took me a minute but I figured out who it must be. Yoongi.
I twisted around to look at him to be met with pale skin and dark eyes and black hair greeting me. He was breathtaking. This pale skin was illuminated by my dimly lit room. He was wearing a black tee and sweatpants yet still looked amazing.
"You're not a cat," I stated. He sat back away from me with a slight chuckle escaping his lips.
"Well I'm a hybrid so I can do that," he replied casually with a shrug. I furrowed my eyebrows at him in confusion. It was kind of hard for me to really process what he was saying as the alcohol was really affecting my brain function at this point.
"You're pretty." I grinned giddily as I reached out and lightly poked at his cheek with a smile streching across my facef. His grabbed my hand with his before I could touch his face.
"And you are wasted," he stated matter-of-factly. I pouted as he dropped my wrist and my hand fell back to the bed by my side.
"No, I'm not. I'm fine!" I tried to protest but he gave me a 'don't kid yourself' look causing me to go back into pouting.
"How about we get you some clothes," he said as he got off of the bed. I looked at him confused again before looking down at what I was wearing. I quickly tried to cover myself up with one of the blankets off of the bed which only caused him to chuckle again in amusement.
"Go wash your face. I know that sleeping with makes upon does not have positive outcomes," he commented. I huffed before getting out of the bed, still clad only in my bra and underwear and began to walk out of my room towards the bathroom. As I walked past him I saw Yoongi's eyes scan over my body and I couldn't help but smirk. I don't know why because ordinarily I would be freaking out like I had been earlier because a guy had seen me in so little clothing, but at this point, I didn't really care. I don't know if it was the breakup or the alcohol that was causing it, maybe it was both? I somehow managed to wash my face and take all my make up off before going back to my room only to get hit in the face with a hoodie and a pair of shorts. I narrowed my eyes at Yoongi who just gave me a blank look as if he had done nothing.
"Bastard" I muttered as I pulled the hoodie over my head and the short over my hips. I now took in the time to get a real good look at my hybrid's human form. I was a taller than me, the top of my head was at his eye level. He had dark brown/blackish hair that was cut so that it complimented his face. He had a very innocent looking face and looked to be younger than the twenty-five years his file said. He was also quite pale for a Korean man, at least amongst the ones that I had seen. He was definitely paler than Seukin had been.
"Are you going to stand there and stare at me all night?" Yoongi asked slightly annoyed, snapping me out of my daze.
"Hmm? Yeah, yeah." I mumbled as I yawned. I could feel my eyes becoming droopy and the sudden urge to pass out hit me like a train.
"I'm sleepy." I suddenly whined as I crawled onto my bed. I could almost feel Yoongi rolling his eyes at me.
"You're going to be hungover as hell tomorrow," he muttered to himself more than anything. I heard him but I didn't really care what he was saying. He had been beside my bed, but as he turned to walk away I grabbed his wrist causing him to snap back around.
"Please don't leave me," I whispered softly with my eyes closed. I could feel the empty void of loneliness building back up in my stomach. I wanted anything other than to be left alone right now. I held on tightly to his hand as he didn't say anything for a moment. I finally dropped his hand as I felt a tear run down my cheek. I rolled over so that my back was facing the outside of the bed. I heard Yoongi walk over and shut the lights off. I let out a small sniff as I curled into a smaller ball as I tried to hug myself. I felt like I had a rock in my chest and my head was spinning from all of the alcohol.
Suddenly there was a nudge behind me. Yoongi nudged me with his knee again.
"If you want me to stay here, you need to move over." He stated quietly. I quickly scooted over to give him room. He laid down next to me on his back. I was careful to leave space between us and I laid rigidly a half a foot away from him lying on my own back now as I stared at the ceiling. Even though I had been dating Seukin for nearly two years I had never slept in the same bed as him...in fact, now that I think about it we hardly ever had any skinship between the two of us. It was also different because I was used to cat-Yoongi sleeping in my bed, not human-Yoongi. I heard Yoongi let out an annoyed sigh next to me.
"Ah, fuck it," he muttered before rolling towards me. I suddenly felt myself being pulled towards him.
"What are you...?" I started.
"It's cold as fuck in this room," he muttered again as he scooted closer to me. I didn't know what to do. I tried to roll over so that my back was towards him only to have my back pulled flush against him. I could feel him shiver behind me as he held onto me. Then I remembered about reading in his file how he liked being warm...it was also one of the reasons why in his cat form I figured that he slept in my bed.
"Relax, you're like holding on to a rock." I heard him mumbled softly behind my head. I slowly let my body relax in his hold, letting my self lean back and not be as straight as a board.
"Better." he hummed before I felt him nuzzle his face into the back of my neck. I reached over and pulled one of the blankets over us causing him to pull me even closer as he let out a satisfied sigh at the warmth that I and the blanket were providing him. I felt my eyelids beginning to feel as if they weigh a ton. I finally gave up trying to keep them open and went to sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up with a massive headache. My head felt like it was trying to explode out of my eyes. I let out a low moan of pain as I tried to sit up only to be restricted from moving by an unknown force. I blinked the sleep from my eyes enough to realize that there was a dark-haired man in my bed wearing a pair of black sweats and a white tee shirt. It took me a minute of trying not to freak out to realize that it was Yoongi, my hybrid, who had suddenly decided last night when I was plastered to shift into his human form...which I had to admit was some really convenient timing as I really needed to be with someone and not all by myself last night.
"Its too early." I heard him mumble softly. "Go back to sleep."
"My head feels like its ready to explode and I need to pee...so if you want me to piss on you then I will gladly stay here," I replied smugly. I felt his arms retract and let me go.
"Bitch." I could have sworn I heard him mutter under his breath which caused me to roll my eyes at him.
"I see you are a morning person." I snickered more to myself than anything as I stumbled out of my room and to the bathroom where I took some painkillers and washed my face to try and wake myself up. I finally got myself together enough to go to the kitchen and make myself some coffee and a bowl of cereal. I was in the middle of reading the news on my phone when I looked up to see a sleepy looking Yoongi slowly walk in like a zombie towards the table. He sat down and looked at me as if he was waiting for something. Then it clicked and I quickly got up and grabbed another bowl and got him some cereal and put the bowl and a spoon in front of him. He was still silent and half asleep as he began to slowly munch on his cereal. I was about to go sit back down when my phone rang.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Thank god you're awake!" exclaimed Ju-min into the phone causing me to flinch at her loudness.
"Yes I'm awake, damn, can you quiet it down a bit? You're making my headache worse." I complained.
"Tch, that's what you get for getting wasted last night...which reminds me. You called me all drunk and crying and you wouldn't answer my texts or call. Did you mention something about Seukin...is everything alright? You said that he was back in town." replied Ju-min. I sniffed at the mention of Seukin's name.
"He...he...Seukin dumped me last night." I chocked out. Ju-min was silent for a moment.
"Imma kill that son of a bitch." I heard her growl.
"No, no, don't its fine, I'll be fine. Yoongi's kinda taking care of me...I guess. He made sure I didn't do anything too stupid when I got home last night and helped put me to bed." I told her as I shrugged to myself at the thought.
"Wait...Yoongi as in your cat hybrid who has never shifted in front of you for over a month, Yoongi?" she inquired.
"Mmmhmmm. I guess he decided that plastered (y/n) was a good reason for me to see him in his human form." I replied causing her to suddenly squeal over the phone.
"Oh my god finally! I've been dying to know more about him. What does he look like? Can you send me a picture? Can I meet him? He can hang out with Jin when we both have to work!" Ju-min rambled excitedly.
"Ju...first off, calm down. Secondly, he's not really a people person so I'm not sure that is such a good idea yet. But I will let you know if anything changes. Okay?" I replied. I heard her huff in disappointment in the background.
"Fine...wait didn't you say he put you to bed...did he sleep in the same bed as you? I know you told me he usually does in his cat form...". I could feel my cheeks beginning to burn.
"W what? N n no. Of course not!" I lied as my face began to turn red. Yoongi walked out of the kitchen and gave me a weird look as he looked at my heated face.
"Are you sick or something?" He asked confused. I furiously shook my head.
"You're lying to me, (y/n)." I heard Ju-min say smugly. "Is that his voice in the background? He sounds sexy." I chocked in shock at her words.
"Yes it is, look...Uh, I gotta go. I'll talk to you later bye!" I rushed before hanging up the phone before she even had a chance to answer. I looked over to see Yoongi giving me a look like I was a crazy person, but there was also a slight smirk forming on his lips.
"Was that Ju-min?" he inquired. I nodded.
"Yeah, She was just calling to check up on me," I replied simply trying to get off the topic of Ju-min as soon as possible.
"I'm going to go to the shower...oh! We should go shopping to get you some new clothes. You really don't have very many and I'm sure you'd like some new ones, right?" I asked. His face lightened up slightly at the notion of shopping.
"Really?" He asked as he seems to perk up a little from his sleepy state. I nodded.
"Of course! We can do pretty much whatever you want today. I've kinda been waiting for you to shift to take you out." I admitted sheepishly.
"Tch." He replied in slight amusement.
"We can go as soon as I'm out of the shower or whenever you are ready to go I guess," I told him with a shrug. He turned away from me to stare out the window, but still nodded in reply. I was about walking out of the room when I thought hit me like a truck.
"Oh my god! I almost forgot! When we go out I'm gonna make sure that we set it up and get you a phone. It would give me peace of mind to know you have one...and it's something you could use to occupy your time as well." I smiled before leaving the room before he could respond. I wasn't going to take no for an answer.
I was in and out of the shower in no time and quickly changed into a pair of black skinny jeans, a pink shirt, and black leather jacket it as it was cool outside. I walked out of my room with a pair of combat boots in my hand to run into Yoongi who was coming out of his own room clad in a pair of black joggers, and a black hoodie. I noticed that they were kind of washed out and probably pretty old as well as the sneakers that were worn out on his feet. I couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness hit me as I thought about his file again. I hope that he will eventually be able to open up to me about his past on his own.
"Come in let's get going." I chimed as I tied my boots in and grabbed my purse. I slid a black face mask over the lower half of my face and Yoongi looked at me curiously. I took another one out of my purse and handed it to him.
"Do you want one too?" I offered. He looked down the mask in my hand before carefully taking it.
"What does it do?" He asked confused.
"It can help with breathing and it's a nice way to kinda cover up...not to mention it is warm," I replied. He didn't really seem to know how to put it on so I reached over and carefully slid the little elastic strings over his ears so that the mask was securely over the bottom half of his face. I stepped back and smiled.
"There. Perfect! Now let's go." I cheered as I instinctively grabbed his wrist and brought his with me towards the car. I realized that I had grabbed him when I felt him tense up and I quickly let go of his wrist.
"Sorry, sorry." I apologized. "Habit." We got into the car and Yoongi seemed pretty entertained by the idea of sitting the front of the car...I found out that it was his first time in his human form ever riding in the front seat of a car. I could help but observe him out of the corner of my eye as he seemed to marvel at everything as he intently stared out the window. We pulled into the parking lot at the mall and his face seemed to light up. He followed behind me as we walked into the building but as soon as we entered the store and were greeted by other people his entire demeanor changed. He'd flinch away every time anyone even came remotely close to us. I could visibly see how tense and nervous he was. He stayed close behind me and I occasionally could feel him bumping into my or touching the back of my shirt. I let out a light sigh before hesitantly reaching behind me and grabbing his slightly shaking hand. I intertwined my fingers with him and I could see him looking at me with wide eyes. I leaned over to him.
"It's okay. I won't let anything happen to you. We can even go home if you really want to. I don't want to force you into anything." I whispered to him. He shook his head quickly.
"I...I don't want to leave." He replied lowly. I could see he was determined to stay but his nerves were making it hard. I nodded in response.
"Okay...you can keep holding my hand if you want to, another wise I can stop..." I started to pull away but his grip tightened.
"Don't." Was all he said, not even looking at me. I couldn't help but feel a slight smile twitch on my lips as I led him through the mall. As we started stopping at more stores he started to become a little more confident. He would wander around on his own but he was careful to never let me out of his sight. Where ever I went he would follow...which was kinda hard when I had to go to the bathroom...
I did quickly find out that the boy had a love for monochromatic and for greyscale clothes. He was like a kid in a candy shop after I finally got him to start trying clothes on...and I had to admit he looks damn good in pretty much whatever he tried on. I was starting to get weighed down by bags as we continued through the store...whenever we walked out Yoongi would never let go of my hand. It had become like a security blanket for him so that he wouldn't lose me. I didn't mind, although it was a little weird for me since I barely would even hold hands with my ex because he never wanted to.
"Do you want to eat something?" I asked Yoongi as we were walking in the direction of the food court.
"Sure." He replied casually, not really paying much attention to me as he was still looking at everything around him. He would still try to avoid people touching him which tended to involve either pulling you with him or him pressing into you or behind you.
"Do you see anything you want to try?" Asked as we entered intro eh food court. He was looking around with hungry eyes at all of the different options that were around him.
"That one?" He said, but it sounded more like he was asking for permission as he pointed at a place that I knew sold really good noodles.
"Sure, I've been there before. They have good food." I encouraged him to lead the way. He was hesitant but walked up to the counter and looked at the options.
"Do you know what you'd like? I can order it for you since I know you're not really comfortable talking to other people." I whispered in his ear. He nodded.
"I'll eat whatever you do." He replied quietly. I hummed in confirmation as the lady at the counter waited to take out order.
"We'll have two of the (meal) please," I said.
"Alright, that will be 23,000 won." (AN: Wons are Korean currency) She informed me as she was typing on her register. I handed her my card which she took, swiped, and gave back to me in a matter of seconds. I led Yoongi over to a table as I picked up our number for our order.
"Now we just have to wait until our number is up and I can go grab our food." I smiled. "When we are done eating I have somewhere that I'd like to take you before we go home."
"Where?" He instantly asked.
"It's a surprise." I grinned mischievously. Soon our number was called and we both thoroughly enjoyed our food. I was getting really excited to take him to our last stop of the day.
"Where are we going?" He asked again as we exited the mall.
"Well this place isn't in the mall, but it is near our house," I commented as we got into the car. He still looked at me perplexed but didn't ask any more as he was silent throughout our ride. We pulled up to an older looking building with a half burnt out sign. Yoongi looked st the building curiously. He silently followed me as we went inside. Inside was a vast collection of music equipment, instruments, CD's, vinyl, you name it. It was a music lovers heaven. His eyes and face lit up like a firework as he gawked at the store around him. He looked at me as if he was again asking for permission and I motioned for him to go out on his own and explore.
"We've got plenty of time to explore. Go ahead and look around. I won't leave you here." I told him. I could see a hint of a cute gummy smile growing as he began to wander throughout the store on his own. I saw him beeline it over to the corner of the store where all of the keyboards and piano's were kept. I couldn't help smile softly at how cute he looked when he wasn't all tense or terrified.
"I thought you were dating Seukin." A familiar voice said from behind me. I nearly pissed myself from the scare she gave me as I spun around.
"Mi-lin!" I exclaimed as I embraced the short young woman in front of me. She laughed as she playfully pushed me away.
"I haven't seen you here in weeks and now suddenly show up with a man...and I hot one at that." whistled Mi-lin as she checked out Yoongi who was now sitting at one of the keyboards, running his hands across the keys.
"Seukin and I aren't together anymore," I stated. It didn't hurt as much the more I began to say it. It was almost a relief now that I wasn't always worried about how he was doing when he was coming home, or what he was up to.
"About time," replied Mi-lin to my slight shock. "He wasn't good enough for you. He would barely even hold your hand for god's sake! Now him." she said motioning over towards Yoongi, "That guy is something else." I couldn't help by scoff at her words.
"Well that guy happens to be my hybrid." I informed her. She pouted.
"Awe, how did you get so lucky?" She whined. "Ju-min got a really good hybrid too. He's gorgeous! I didn't know men like him even existed." I tried to hold in a laugh at her dramatized reaction.
"You can go to the shelter and get your own hybrid if you are really that into them. There are plenty to choose from. Yoongi is a bit rough around the edges but he's really not a bad housemate." I admitted. Mi-lin smirked at me before nudging me with her shoulder.
"Is that all he is? Hmmm? Just a housemate?" she asked suggestively. I pushed her away from me as I rolled my eyes.
"Don't be like that. I didn't get him to turn him into some kind of sex toy." I sniped. She put her hands up in defense.
"Hey, I didn't mean any offense." she defended. "I just thought by how you guys were holding hands and whispering to each other when you walked in that something else was going on between the two of you. It's not totally uncommon for owners to date their hybrids."
"Well, there is not, so please don't try to make something out of nothing," I said quickly. We were both soon distracted as we heard a melodic sound flowing through the air. We both turned to see Yoongi. Sitting peacefully at one of the keyboards, majestically playing his heart away. His eyes were closed as he let the music flow through his fingers. Mi-lin and I stared at him in shock and awe as we listen to his playing.
"Did you know he could do that?" she whispered to me. I shook my head.
"I had no idea." I trailed...what else could he do that I didn't know?
