As Jin turned around, dark red almost black eyes gazed at him. They were face to face, almost touching. He then fell to the floor, covered in blood. Jin laid there and thought of the events that led to that moment. It was a bright hot morning, the roads sparkled like a carpet of crushed diamonds in the early sunshine."Ding! Dong!", yelled the doorbell. That's how it all started. Jin got up from her cream sofa, where she was watching Jujutsu Kaisen, on his fifty-five-inch television set. He walked over to his white door then turned its gold knob "Swish!", it swung open. There stood a delivery man, "Good Morning!. Are you Ms. Stark?" "Yes, I am!". He then handed him an envelope and a clipboard to put his info on. Hee just scribbled his initial and Thursday, 10:00 a.m, gave it back to him, then returned inside.
Jin walked over to his computer desk and picked up a letter opener. He opened the envelope and was surprised to learn that his grandmother, his father's mother, had passed away. For most of his life, Jin had been an orphan. His dad died when he was a baby and his mother died eight years ago. Jin never met anyone on his father's side of the family. Jin picked up the remote and shut off the television. He then sat down and continued to read his letter. The letter was from her grandmother's lawyer. It informed Jin that willed to him was his grandmother's house, all her valuable possessions, and responsibilities. "Responsibilities" wondered Jin. At the end of the letter, it was the lawyer's phone number and written in red and underlined was URGENT - REPLY IMMEDIATELY. Jin placed the letter down and went about his daily chores ignoring the urgent request.
Later that afternoon Jin finally made the call. The lawyer Mr. Felix chatted with Jin for a while. Mr. Felix said that he wished Jin had called earlier so that the wheels could have started moving sooner. Mr. Felix wanted him to get to the house as soon as possible. Jin told him he would leave tomorrow. That meant he would get there on Saturday, it's a long drive. Though disappointed, all he could do was wait. Two days later, Jin drove up a driveway with a beautifully kept garden on both sides. Jin nervously got out of his car and walked up to a nice upstairs and downstairs, brick and concrete house. The summer breeze brushed against him as he walked. He opened the door, stepped inside, and was greeted by an average height, broad-faced almost bald-looking man, in a brown suit. He used a white handkerchief to wipe beads of sweat that rolled down his face. He seemed nervous and eager to leave. He gave Jin a package with the paperwork he needed to sign along with a bunch of labeled keys to doors in the house. He told him that there was a letter in the study from his grandmother that he needed to read now. He said he would be back in a few days and left. Jin walked around the house and scoped out everything. He loved the stained wood flooring and the wide Persian rug. He liked the high windows with the long beautiful drapes even more. He moved towards the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, it was stocked but had nothing he fancied. He poured a glass of juice and walked up a curved staircase that took him up to the second floor. The keys were color-coded so he took the cream key that said master and opened a cream door. He entered a top to bottom white room, twin bed, sliding door closets, and shag carpet. Jin was surprised all this was his. Jin showered, went downstairs, made a sandwich then switched on the television, and soon fell asleep. The whisper of Jin's name woke him up a few hours later. The outside was dark. He looked down and saw muddy footprints next to the couch. The hairs on his body stood up, a shiver raced down his spine and a lump came to his throat. I followed the footprints upstairs to a room at the end of the hallway. A door that was closed earlier was now halfway opened. Jin peeped inside and what a sight met his eyes? It was a small neat room, a computer desk with a computer, a flat-screen tv, toilet, and bath. It was a nice room but where were the footprints? That night Jin slept light in his locked room. The next day Sunday, Jin went to the market. When he got home the smell of fried fish was in the air. When he got to the kitchen there was no evidence of anything being cooked there. "Aah!" he took a sigh of relief. Jin spent a few hours investigating the rest of the house. "Ring! Ring!". Jin answered the phone. It was Mr. Felix. He wanted to know if he was following the instructions in the letter. He told him he had not read the letter yet. Mr. Felix was annoyed. He told him he would visit tomorrow. Jin took a shower the activities of the day left him clammy. After the shower, he went over to the study, to read the letter. The letter came with a file and a photo." He looked familiar!" he thought. He was psychotic and had multiple personalities. His grandmother knew of the crimes he had committed and did not want him to go to jail. He would have been executed. After Jin's father left, she was alone. His father left because his brother was a sadistic murderer and his mother protected him. She gave him everything he could want and fed him his favorite meal of fresh fried fish, fish fresh fried. Even with everything given once in a while servants and hired help would go missing. With the help of her lawyer, who was paid a lot, his name was always cleared by police. Now it was his responsibility to keep him happy or he could turn on her and everyone else. He was to take his meals to him and not let him walk around. Jin read his psychological file and was horrified. He wondered if he had eaten in the last few days. He had not fed him or given him his medication. That could throw him off his schedule. Just then the lights went out. Jin grabbed the letter opener and froze in fear, too afraid to look around. Footsteps approached, and Jin felt the heat of his breath on his neck. His pulse was racing. Jin turned around and it was him. He said nothing, he just raised his hand revealing a knife. Before Jin did anything he stabbed him. His grin made him believe he enjoyed it. Jin felt the warmth of his blood running down his body. This made his survival instincts set in and Jin took the letter opener and turned it into a weapon. Jin stabbed him with all his force continuously, until he fell to the ground. Jin fell next. He was not dead but he was losing blood fast. He had to do something. He crawled his way to the nearest phone and called for help.
Police and ambulance soon arrived. Jin was unconscious. They took him to the hospital and he was stitched up. He remained in a coma. His uncle was pronounced dead at the scene. Police who investigated the crime found body parts and bones in the basement. It was also revealed that the lawyer Mr. Felix was just another one of his uncle's many personalities.
Lisa felt lucky to be alive. She understood now why her parents were never close with that side of her family and stayed away at all cost. They were psychos. Lisa learned that procrastinating is a bad thing, and that was something she had to change about herself. You have to make a call, just make it. You have to read a letter, just read it. So many things could have been avoided.
