‘Parallel Universe, the greatest research of humankind, has still been unknown to a lot of scientists, but the greatest scientist claimed he will find a way to get to the parallel universe.’
The late night news was buzzing on Newt Stockholm's ears. However, his father didn't seem to mind as he was listening very attentively to the news, which Newt found ridiculous. He never believed in a parallel universe and stuff. There were other things to worry him. His first day of high school was the next day and he wasn't excited. His elementary school wasn't that much terrible but then something horrible happened, which was called middle school. He had no doubt that the middle school teachers were actually monsters. And after finishing his terrible middle school years, he was now in high school.
He went to his room and jumped on the bed. He missed his mom every day. His mom died when he was ten and from then on everything changed for him. He had dyslexia, and was known as a troublemaker in school. He nonetheless cared, but after being kicked out from every school in Herling, he lost hope in himself. He lay on the bed for a moment until he nodded off in the bright moonlight, which was coming through the window. That night his whole life changed.....
He felt his eyes get heavy. He opened them frantically and woke up. He thought he had just missed his first day of high school. However, he was surprised. He wasn't in his room. He scanned the place and didn't recognize any of it. He got out of bed and looked through the window. His eyes widened, not believing what he was seeing. Where the hell am I? He murmured. He took a deep breath and thought someone was pranking him. He reluctantly plucked some courage and decided to go outside. He went down the stairs and found no one else in the house. It was a fine house, normal like his but much more complex with high-tech machines. He opened the door and faced the reality. The things that he saw through the window were real. There were two suns. Planets visible in the bright sky and he can swear that they weren't the planets that he saw in her science book when he read about the solar system. He looked down at his feet. He tasted bile in his mouth. He was standing at least twenty feet above the ground and he made up his mind that he wasn't ready to meet god at the age of fifteen.
He found a vehicle in the garage of the house where he found himself. He wasn't even sure what that vehicle was. What on earth is this thing? Newt had other problems and the first was - he didn't know how to drive, still he tried and second problem was everything ran on computer command. However, Newt figured out how to work with the unknown vehicle. He was not only surprised but also amazed with the buildings and the city was ingenious. He was exploring the city fine until he faced the tallest building and his controls failed and somehow he was sucked inside the building like his vehicle was made of some magnetic metal and it is attracted by a magnet. He couldn't do anything but get sucked inside the place. Later he discovered that it was no normal building, it was a headquarters, well that what he at least assumed. He was terrified when he saw some people come towards his vehicle. Ironically, he also felt a bit of relief as finally he could see a crowd of people; the whole way up here he hadn't seen any person. Then some masked person intervened and led him to a room, which looked like a courtroom. An old man was standing on the stage. That man was wearing a mask. Does everyone wear a mask in this city?
The old man finally spoke up, but in a totally different language. Not French, not Spanish nor Japanese. Newt just stared at the old man while he kept blabbering, probably some rules of his country. The old man didn't stop until a young woman appeared. Newt's eyes widened. The woman looked familiar. Her eyes were bright ocean blue like Newt's but her hair was hazel brown unlike Newt's shaggy black hair. She didn't wear the mask like the others. Thank god. She whispered something to the old man and then made her way to me.
“You have grown so much in these last five years. I can't even recognize you.” She said.
“Mother?” Newt said with a shock. He was about to hug her like he did when he was five. “Mother, but how?”
“My son, I am from the parallel universe, while your dad is from Earth.”
Newt wasn’t sure if he should burst out laughing or be downright terrified. “Parallel universe? Is it even real?”
“You're in it.” Newt wasn't sure what to say.
“Then why did you leave me and dad? Why didn't you come back? And why am I even here?”
“All your questions will be answered but I brought you here so that you can make a decision,” his mother said. “Do you want to live here with me or want to live with your dad?” In that single moment Newt felt his life had gone upside down.
“You want me to choose now, mother. Why can't we just live together?” I asked.
“It's your wish my son but we can't show ourselves to the human world.” He felt his head spiraling. His mother's words became an echo. He woke up in his own bed, sweating. He stood up and saw the moon in the night sky.
“This world needs to change. Parallel universe and Earth need to get together. Not as rivals but as friends." Newt said in the silent night. “And believe me, mother and father, I will bring you together again.”
