In this world, there are four major realms: The realm of Mortals, the Land of Cultivators, the domain of immortals and lastly, the outer realm which is said to be the most ancient of the four realms.
The mortal realm is devoid of spiritual power. the land of cultivators is filled with immortality-pursuers. While the powers of the cultivators can level mountains and drain seas, the power of the immortals are heaven-defying and earth-shakings. with just a flick of the hand, immortals can reduce cultivators to ashes. Transcending from one realm to another is nearly impossible that they are just stuff of legends and very unimaginable.
The outer realm surrounds the three realms and it is like a deep abyss staining the world of light. it is the place inhabited by demons, ghouls, vengeful souls and other things that are evil and vile. where the immortal realm stands for light, the outer realm represents darkness.
The two realms have always been at odds with each other. Endless wars were waged between the two great titans. The greatest and the largest-scale battle happened in the mortal realm about 10,000 years ago. It stained the world red and left many mortals, demons and immortals gravely injured. The battle ended in a tie and both sides eventually retreated from the mortal realm.
Even though the mortal realm recovered and the population was growing, things can never go back to normal. Plenty of demons still littered the realm, plaguing people and gaining energy from grief and turmoil.
On the other hand, there were also several immortals that were stuck in the mortal realm. demons can feed upon humans while immortals could not. they have been devoid of power in this realm and could no longer go back. what is worst for these immortals is that their powers of immortality are fading, turning them into normal human beings.
This realm is devoid of powers that can be harnessed by the immortals. they feel powerless against the ruthlessness of time and the raging of age. Generations upon generations tried to break through the mortal realm to the domain of immortals only to fail. They have been wasting their stored powers. In a joint effort most immortals decided to settle in a little village and plan for their next traverse through the realms.
This is the end of part one: the introduction of the four realms. the story starts with a pair in these group of immortals. im going to try to write the part two if im still up to it. oh, and the setting is historical and Chinese classic. though its not historical accurate in details. technology has not seem to advance in this mortal realm. They still use swords and spear as weapons. This is like my favorite time line, an equal to my like to the victorian era.
