Other than getting chased by the neighbouring dogs, I was unexpectedly having a nice day. Until the sky was getting darker. I thought that it was pretty odd as it was only in the middle of the day but the sky had taken a piercing shade of black. Not to mention the narrow road which I was passing, consisting of deep forest on both sides. And in the next moment, a thunder roared and shook the earth’s surface with great magnitude. I looked up into the sky and I could have sworn that the evil spirits were wandering around fighting each other. The water couldn’t hold any longer in the clouds and started to pour on the surface of the earth. I took the nearest shelter, which was the forest.
And running deeper into the forest was not a great decision. The trees sheltered the ground from the rain but droplets of rain were able to reach the ground anyway. I found an abandoned hut. I was reluctant but still went inside. The hut was deserted except there was only one thing. My leg got caught with something as soon as I entered. When I ducked down, I saw a glimpse in the darkness, it was a cat. It had greyish fur as far as I could tell. It looked like a persian breed cat because of it’s fluffy fur and angry looking face which was continuously giving me the thought that the cat was cursing me in its mind, to leave it alone. And it’s golden piercing eyes weren't any better. Another thunder roared nearby, giving some light for me to see. I wasn’t very thankful for the light because I got a glimpse of everything which was inside the hut. And watching skeletons was not in my wishlist for that day.
I wasn’t sure if it was my scream or the thunder which made the cat leap into my lap. It started to scratch my t-shirt, while I was staring at the bones which were lying in front of me. The cat clearly didn’t get the attention it wanted. So, it got out of my lap and before I could notice, it was already running deeper into the forest. That cat just escaped into that dangerous forest, I thought. Next moment I stood up and ran to the direction where the cat went. The forest was too dangerous for the cat though I was confused how it got into the forest hut in the first place. I looked for the cat here and there. The rain fortunately stopped but the cat was still nowhere to be found. Finally, a few metres away, I noticed the cat, wagging it’s tail continuously like it was anxious. I followed it and after a few minutes of running to the direction where the cat was taking me, I found myself almost at the end of the forest. The sky was getting a shade of blackish-blue. I caught hold of the cat and embraced it into my arms. I realized we were in front of a magnificent church. I looked at the identical church as it was near my house. I looked at the cat which was also looking at the church.
“So you like churches?” it felt like the cat nodded. I smiled. “Well, it seems like I have to name you Church then.”
