In our day to day life we usually jump straight to conclusions before even verifying the whole situation..I was no different..But that one incident changed my habit...
I used to work part time on weekends as a security guard in a manikin making factory.I am more of a mind my own buisness person , so, what I basically did was just to sit at the entrance ensuring that no one enters, and, sometimes I used to take casual rounds in the factory. In my 3 years of my job I didn't even recorganise a single face working in my factory.Maybe it was because I guarded the factory only during the night hours, when there were rarely any people there.I guess my introverted nature too played a role in that thing.Later I highly regretted that..
One night when I was on duty I head some noises coming from the factory. It didn't took me long to realise that somebody had put on the burner. My heart started beating faster and I started sweating in December.I mustered up all my courage and went inside. The burner was somewhat in the middle of the factory. With every step my heartbeat increased. After 5 minutes, which seemed like five days , I reached the burner room.I took a deep breath and opened the door wide enough for a person to peek inside. What I saw inside froze me on the spot. There were three men , not of a very good build, but together stronger than me,who were throwing human corpses in the fire. Finding that attacking them alone would be the most stupid thing to do I decided to get some help.I ran to the police station. As quickly as I could, I registered a FIR and took the policemen to the factory. The men were gone by then. The police started the investigation and I was asked some questions, you know, questions for formality. The police asked me to go and said that they would call me if I was required.I returned home.I am a bachelor so I had no one to talk to,and , calling my boyfriend this late would be inconvenient. My parents , who lived abroad , would be busy right now.I tried to sleep, but couldn't.Whole night through I tossed and turned.I was able to sleep at 7 AM roughly and at 7:30, my phone rang.It was police calling me.They asked me to meet them at the police station.Believe me,I was never very quick in my work, but, I was that day.I ran to the police station. When I arrived everybody was looking at me and smiling teasingly. The head policeman asked me if I was sure that there were corpses which were being burnt.Of course, I replied affirmatively. The policeman shouted" Enter" and three men walked in.I could easily reorganise them, they were the ones at the factory. The policeman confirmed if I saw them in the factory.I replied with a yes,And then all the people at the station started laughing.I was confused and demanded an explanation. The policeman told me that the men were not burning cropses, they were manikins. The extra manikins which were not being used by the company were being burnt by the regular workers there. I stood there dumbstruck.I wanted to dig a hole and hide myself in it.In short , I was really embarrassed. Now, ten years have passed and I am a top surgeon but that embarrassing moment is still fresh in my memory.
