"Another new student..." he said as he looked down at the gates of the school.
«He noticed a little boy holding his parents' hands, smiling broadly. By the looks of it, he seemed to be around 5 or 6 years of age. The excitement in the little boy's eyes made his lips curl into a little smile.»
"Staring at the school gates again huh, Adam?" a girl called out from behind.
"Ah, Daisy!" he said, turning around.
"The one and only. And if you'll quit ignoring my question–"
"Well, Yes. You see, the only nice place in the entire orphanage is the terrace."
"I- I can't quite deny that, but... Why do you keep staring at the school? Why not something else?"
«Adam looked back at the little boy who was smiling outside the school gates.»
"Look at that boy. If you look carefully, you'll find a little smile on his face..."
"Him?"
"Yes. I like him a lot. Everyday, he comes to the school so cheerfully. And right as he gets out through those gates, he runs up to his parents and hugs them. Like.. An innocent angel."
"I see.." Daisy stopped, but then continued. "Sadly, it's the last day you get to see them. But. One the bright side, you get to have your 16th birthday with your new family!"
Adam kept quiet, then finally, "I guess... Yeah.." His eyes burned as he kept staring at the little boy.
"I know what to do!" Daisy snapped. "Let's go meet him."
"WHA—" Before he could even notice, she pulled him away. "B-but Daisy–"
"No buts. Come on! Quick"
«Daisy ran down the stairs, almost madly, and Adam could do nothing but follow her.»
«They ran through the orphanage gates, and soon enough, Adam was standing where the little boy was once standing. He looked around the crowd, but couldn't find the boy»
"See. It's of no luck", he said, his voice cracking.
"Who said so?", said Daisy, looking straight behind him.
«Adam turned around to find nothing but the little boy waving his parents Goodbye. Excitement got him. He let go of Daisy's hand and ran off to the boy.»
"Hey!" he said, as he gasped.
The boy turned back and quickly launched a "Hello" back at him.
Adam bent down infront of him. "What's your name buddy?"
"My name is Alec Smith!" he said, proudly.
"Well then Alec, can I tell you something very important?"
"Sure."
"Never stop Smiling."
Alec paused. He looked straight in Adam's eyes and said, "Yes, big brother!" This time, his smile reached up his eyes.
«Adam stood straight up as he smiled back at him, waving him goodbye for he needs to walk throught those huge gates, right inside the school. He glanced at Alec's parents were smiling and him, and then took his leave.»

The next day, Adam woke up because of Daisy's loud shouts.
"Adam, You Lazy PoTatO!! Wake up! Your foster parents are here!"
"I'm up. I'M UP!" he shouted back.
«In his whole life, he never got dressed up as fast as he did today.»
When he finally entered the Dean's office, he found Alec and his parents sitting across the Dean's table.
"Adam! Happy 16th birthday my boy!" said the Dean as he hugged him. "Come, meet your new family!"
Mr. and Mrs. Smith looked at him and smiled. Alec shouted "Big Brother!" from behind.

Adam stood still from the shock, while Alec ran up to him to give him a hug. Once he had taken it all in, he smiled at the Smiths and hugged his brother back.
