*Tip:Imagine the scenario.*
It was the month of December. The weather was foggy due to which stars weren't visible in sky. The road was empty and everywhere was pin drop silence. Cynthia was heading back to her home from work. She was trying to act cool but deep down in her heart she was scared;as she was alone on the road and was waiting for a taxi.
After sometime, a cab stopped in front of her. The window of cab opened and the man inside car asked, "Where do you want to go?"
She got scared but didn't show. She stuttered and said,"I...I.. wa...nt to go to.. Si..silver canoe st..stre..et". The driver smiled and said,"Ok, sit in the car." She sat on the backseat of the car. Cynthia was afraid and sweating in chilly weather. Bad thoughts were circling in her mind. The man was watching her expressions through rear view mirror. He understood her problem and asked,"Mam, why were you all alone on the road?umm..I mean why noone came to pick you ?" She gasped and looked in the mirror. She thought," Why he is asking me questions? What he is thinking? what if he..if he... no no.. Cynthia don't think too much.. nothing will happen. Yes, nothing will happen." The man said loudly,"Ma'am, are you listening?" She came back to reality and said,"Ye..yeah.. that no one is at...at my home. So..." The man said,"Oh! ok..ok..".
She was looking straight in the mirror, suddenly man's gaze fall down on mirror and he smiled. She got scared and thought," Why he is smiling? It is scaring me. He will definitely do something. No..no I need to escape. Yeah, I have to". She took a deep breath and said to the man," Excuse me , please stop the car. I will go by walking from here." The man raised his eyebrows in suspicion and asked,"Why ma'am? The street is still far away from here." Cynthia annoyingly said,"I'm saying, please stop the car." The man again asked in gentle tone," Mam, it is still dark in the alley.. how will you...". Before the man could completed his sentence, Cynthia angrily said," Are you going to stop car or not ? Stop the car here right now". The man sighed and said," Be careful mam".And left the place.
She got off the car and mockingly said,"Be careful, huh, if I wasn't careful, how would I escape from you?" Now she was walking in the dark alley. She was thinking," It's good, I'm not with him otherwise he could do anything to me. It is half past midnight, so no one will be at the street. Now.I can easily go home." She was happily going to her way until she met two hooligans.
When she noticed them, she stopped on her way and thought,"Why?why God why? why you always have to do this to me. First that driver now these two hooligans. Ahhh.. no need to panic Cynthia, nothing is going to happen. Yes, just ignore them, and move to your way." She walked passed by them. She thought that they will not follow her. But the started following her. When she realised someone is following her, she started walking fast. When they noticed her actions, the smiled devilishly and running behind her. She gasped and to save herself, she started running with fast speed. But she fell and sprained her ankle. She was trying to stand but she couldn't. And the hooligans came near with sinful smile. They hold her both hands and took her back to the way from where they came.
She was crying bitterly and said,"Please,ple..se, le..let me go please". Both men had sinister smile on their faces. Hooligan 1 said," Ok, we will let you go." She felt happy. "But...." he said," let's have some fun with you, after that we will let you go." By saying that hooligan 2 tore her sweater. She covered herself with her hands. Hooligan 1 saw her body and said," You're such a hot chick, let me have you first." He was going to touch her, suddenly they heard a car honk. Both of them looked in the direction and gulped. Hooligan 2 said,"Let's get out of here." Hooligan 1 was frustrated and said," Yeah! let's go", while looking at Cynthia with hungry eyes. They both ran away from there.
Cynthia was trying to stand up but she couldn't. She was in a mess. Her clothes were tore, her were open, her purse was on the other side. Suddenly a manly figure came in front of her. The man put his overcoat on her and make her stand. When she saw his face, she was shocked and ashamed at same time. The man was none other than the taxi driver. The man said ,"I told you not to get off from the car." She was looking down and said in low voice," Why did you saved me? When I thought you could...you could.... r*pe me." The man just smiled and said gently,"I saved you in the name of humanity. And for second question, it is very normal for a woman to think like this especially if she is all alone in midnight." She looked up, smiled and said,"Thank you... thank you so much.. if you weren't here.... I would have been...." she stopped. He said,"It's alright, now you're safe, I will drop you at your home. ok?" "Ok", she said.
On the way, she asked," How you found out that I'm here?" "Oh", he said," Thanks for reminding me, after you left, I saw your heart pendant. So, I came to give it to you,and....I saw you there." She said," Oh, my pendent...". " What happened?" he asked. She said,"It was the last gift given by my brother." He asked,"What do you mean by last gift?" " He is no more in this world, that's why it is special to me," she said with teary eyes. He said,"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to make you cry." "It's ok," she said. There was an awkward silence between them. He was thinking something and asked her enthusiastically,"Well, do you have any brother, I mean any cousin brother or something?" She said,"No,Why?".
He hesitately asked,"I don't have any sister, so.... would.. would you like to be my sister?" She was like "Huh?" He said," Look, I don't have a sister and you had a brother, but he is no more,so.."
" I would love to". His breath hitched for a moment and asked," What you just said?" She said with a warm smile on her face," I said, I would love to be your sister, my dear brother." His eyes became teary and shouted," Now, I have a sister and I will spoil her. Yayyy!!". Both of them laughed. They arrive at her place and she said," Once again a big thank you brother." He said," It's ok na, now you're my sister so it's my duty to protect you.Ok?" She said,"Ok", while doing thumbs up. She was going to in her house but she stopped and said,"Well, if you don't have any problem, can you be my permanent driver, like from home to office,from office to home?" He said,"Yeah sure. I don't have a problem." She was going to enter but she again stopped and said,"Brother,can..can I hug you?" He was surprised and asked,"Are you sure? I mean you thought.....", before he could completed his sentence, she hugged him. He gasped and hugged her tightly. He noticed that she was crying, he break the hug and asked,"Hey! why are you crying?" She said while making a pout,"I am not crying, these are just happy tears." He chuckled at her actions and said,"Now go and rest". She said while entering to her house,"Ok, and you too. Bye brother." "Bye", he said while entering into his car.
After that day, the bond of brother and sister became stronger. The used to annoy each other, curse each other, teasing each other like real siblings. More than brother sister, the both were bestfriends. They share all their problems with each other whether they found the solution of it or not.
Now Cynthia is a great writer, she is writing her autobiography in which she also mentioned this part. Whenever she enjoy his time with her brother, she always thinks that the man she thought as a satan, he turned out to be "Her saviour".
