The Premise
In a world where the stars have gone silent and the maps of the old world no longer lead to the same shores, humanity survives within "Stable Anchors"—cities protected by ancient, incomprehensible laws. The Crimson Compass is not a tool of navigation, but a Cursed Relic capable of piercing the veil between the physical world and the Aetheric Sea, a realm of forgotten history and lurking horrors.
The Core Mechanic: "The Blood-Debt"
Unlike the sequence-based potion system of LotM, power in this world is derived from Ancestral Resonance.
To activate the Compass, the user must offer a "Tribute of Vitality" (blood).
The Compass doesn't point North; it points toward the user’s deepest Subconscious Desire or the nearest Reality Fracture.
The danger isn't just "losing control," but "The Overwrite." Every time the Compass is used, a fragment of an ancient, cosmic entity’s memory enters the user’s mind. Use it too often, and your soul is replaced by something that died eons ago.
