Finding Home

The look he gave me showed me how broken he was, how much he really needed hope. But the worst part of all of it is that I don't know if I can give him it.

“Zack, I’m not going to ask you why because that won't help right now. But I just want you to know that you have helped me when I was at my worst so I am going to be here for you.”

“What did I do for you? I only gave you money, it wasn’t even enough to help.”

“You have no idea how much that helped. You gave us enough money to start it. Plus you gave me hope that it was possible to get enough money for my sister. You gave me a light in the void of darkness.”

And in all my time knowing Zack, he cried.

Peace. The definition of peace is freedom from disturbance; tranquility or a state or period in which there is no war or a war has ended. It is also something that 15 year old Zackary Ace struggles with. Some may say his eyes look too old for him, and others say there is nothing more you or him could do for him. But the latter of the two can't be farther from the truth. He has conquered monsters that aren't from any myth, yet he still manages to smile at strangers, to laugh at the worst jokes, and he hasn't been comsumed by the lure of darkness.

The Quote says, ‘There is no denying that there is evil in this world but the light will always conquer the darkness.’ Zack is a light in the darkness he is forced to call his life. He has seen demons that most of us will never see. He has conquered the darkness of his past, but will it come back to haunt him?


He is taken out of the life he is used to. Not by choice, nor by force, but nonetheless he is away from his own big monster. But will he be able to learn that not everyone wants to hurt him? What will it take for Zack to find his way home?
