“Any more questions?”
“No. Not at the moment.”
“Ah… it seems you are finished with your work… I take it you are happy with the results?”
“Very. Good day to you.”
Before the woman left she pushed I her glasses and tilted her head.
“Actually I do have one last question.”
“Ask away Miss Scientist.”
The woman blushed.
“Is there something I could bring you?”
The man smiled.
“Miss Scientist, I am certain there is no book that I can enjoy here or any puzzle I cannot solve within the hour but…”
The scientist leaned forward in anticipation of the request.
“I would like to know your real name. If you would share it with me… I would be grateful.”
The woman gripped her clipboard and bit her lip.
It was a simple request.
This was not a request at all.
“Of course… I am Edith.”
The man smiled warmly.
“Edith.”
He said this as though he had learned something.
“It is a good name. Edith. I’ll remember you.”
Smiling, Edith stood up quickly and approached the glass that separated them.
“That’s very kind, almost too much. Please know that our meeting has concluded and all necessary research has been completed. Farewell, Capsule.”
The scientist waved her hand and left the interview room. She touched her neck and immediately went to a side hallway.
This was the first time she ever met a Capsule.
They were rare beings.
All Capsules are said to be the most refined of all creatures.
Born as gifted intellectuals, Capsules are quick to recognize patterns and learn from observations. Their minds are attuned to the complex nature of energy.
She had the privilege to interview a Capsule.
He was too handsome.
He was more than what she had anticipated.
Respectful, calm, and likable, the Capsule in room 3596 was completely different than anything or anyone Edith had met before.
She found herself sinking to the ground with her heart beating fast.
“He is so beautiful…”
A sudden urge to hold him made the scientist shiver in delight.
Looking at her clipboard, Edith quickly realized she needed to hand over her report.
Her supervisor was expecting her work.
Edith suppressed her desire and rushed out of the building.
Meanwhile, down that empty hallway past the security door was room 3596.
The Capsule was sitting in his chair examining the seat where the scientist had just left from.
His dark brown eyes raked over every detail and calculated the distance Edith had traveled to the exit.
He had measured the length and speed of her steps. He identified the pin on her blouse that acted as the badge to let her in and out of the interview room.
Capsule had formulated a plan for his escape.
A cold smile crossed over his face.
“Oh Edith… I am certain you will return. It is only a matter of time.”
