The rain would not stop. A storm was coming. A terrible one.
“Come with me Vanessa. We need to go.”
Calvin grabbed her hand and pulled her. He was taking her down stairs. The lightening struck and thunder boomed.
Vanessa resisted him and cried out.
“What are you doing Calvin? Let me go!”
“Never.”
They made it down the stairs and to the entrance. The maids were all lying on the floor dead. The antique vases were broken, blood was sprayed on the wooden floor, there were swords lying around with dead soldiers still clinging to them.
Vanessa paled and managed to pull her hand away this time. She covered her mouth and trembled.
“Vanessa, just trust me. We have to get out of here or else we are both dead-“
“You killed them… didn’t you.” She breathed.
Lightening struck and revealed Calvin’s face. Under his messy black hair, Calvin’s blue eyes were dead cold.
“I had to.” He said.
Before Vanessa could scream, someone had come to the entrance of the residence on horseback.
“Vanessa!”
“Leopard…” wailed Vanessa.
Calvin pulled out his sword and pointed it to Leopard, the crown prince.
This man had slick brown hair and warm brown eyes. He came in nothing but a plain white shirt and black pants. No shoes on his feet, and yet he rode as fast as he could to get to Vanessa.
“You have no right to be here.” Said Calvin, “come any closer and I will kill you.”
“Don’t kill him!” Pleaded Vanessa.
“…” Calvin gripped his sword tighter and narrowed his gaze.
Leopard got off his horse and pulled out his sword.
“I should never have let you marry Vanessa… you’ve never been able to understand her heart!”
“LEAVE OR DIE!” Shouted Calvin at the top of his lungs.
Instead, Leopard charged forward and swung his sword at Calvin. Vanessa cried out and covered her eyes.
They battled. Calvin and the crown prince. Their swords were looking for blood. Someone was going to lose.
The lightening stuck again and the thunder followed.
The force with which Calvin possessed knocked Leopard backwards. Leopard was defenseless.
As Calvin raised his sword to bring down the final blow, he paused.
A sword had found its way to his heart.
Turning slowly, Calvin lowered his sword and coughed up blood. He had to see the face of his killer.
There.
There she was.
Vanessa had tears streaming down her eyes and kept her trembling hands to her chest.
“Va… nessa… why?”
Closing his eyes Calvin collapsed to the ground.
The rain was beating the ground with its tears. Vanessa slumped to her knees and removed her wedding ring.
“Because… you never loved me.”
***
“Holy sh*t.”
Closing her phone, the reader scratched her head with annoyance.
“That cold b*tch really stabbed him in the back… after everything he did for her. Vanessa betrayed him.”
Brushing her teeth, the girl played the last chapter in her head over and over again.
“I don’t get it. Calvin was a murderer. We all knew that, but that didn’t mean he was a bad person. He had actual and legitimate reasons to kill people. Not to mention, Calvin was surprisingly considerate of Vanessa, his contract wife. They married because the king ordered them to do it.”
Spitting in the sink of her bathroom, the girl then proceeded to pat her mouth dry.
“Of course Vanessa was the female lead, so every man wanted to be her husband, especially the crown prince. Sheesh… They all really wanted Vanessa’s panties. However, she was by law, Calvin’s wife whether she liked it or not.”
Sighing, the girl plopped to her bed and squeezed her pillow.
“He was so good to her! He gave her everything. Food, fancy clothes, status, and… he would even attempt to be romantic with her…”
The girl released her pillow and touched her burning face.
“What a sad way to go. The woman you kinda like or love without realizing is the person who kills you. I pity him.”
Turning off her light the girl went to sleep.
However, she could not fall asleep easily. A few things stayed in her mind.
It was Calvin.
That fictional character in a light novel.
“How ridiculous is it that I pine over a man that doesn’t exist. I’ve never met a man to do half the things he does. It would be wonderful to have a boyfriend like him.”
The girl pulled her sheets over her head and smirked.
“I could love him. So easily too. Ah… What in the world am I saying! It sounds like a confession. But I know I would be a damn good wife!”
Smiling to herself, she fell asleep.
The woman could not see there was lightning or hear the thunder that echoed in her room.
It was until her bed was on fire that she woke.
She screamed as the flames spread around her.
They trapped her.
Crying, the girl seen a blur of glittering light and screamed as she gazed at the blinding light. It was like fire was poured over her.

If fate were kind, it would have undoubtedly given love a chance between Calvin and the woman who fancied herself as his lover.
However, fate was never too kind… and there were forces who opposed love and happiness with such hatred that love could only hope to be born in such a desperate condition.
The woman woke.
She looked at her skin and not it was just fine.
She was wearing a thin white dress. Her hair was tangled and she was very warm.
The woman noted that she was lying on a pile of ash.
Black trees looked over her. A crow watched from a perch nearby and called to her.
Some part of her knee to fall the crow.
It led her out of the forest and to a castle.
The woman froze.
A beautiful castle. As the story describes it was a castle that was taken care of after each generation.
The gates were broken and it seemed much more dreary than the lonesome forest.
Cracked foundation, crumbling brick walls.
The castle had been destroyed.
The woman entered the castle and seen the insignia on the floor.
A sword with a brilliant lace of roses all faded from the rain and dirt.
A sudden gust of wind made the woman stiffen.
A sinking feeling was creeping into her chest.
She was barefoot and walked upstairs to the balcony where Calvin had been betrayed.
Lo and behold the man whom she loved was lying there lifeless.
A tear fell down and the woman smiled bitterly.
“My poor gentleman has no one to look after him… not a soul cared for you after the worst day of your life. Allow me the honor to take care of you at least.”
Kneeling to the ground, the woman bent down and kissed his cold forehead. She brushed his cheek with her finger.
The woman dug a grave and buried Calvin there.
Somehow she found incredible strength to move him.
It was when the job was finished that the woman slumped down and felt the overwhelming sorrow.
Sobbing, the woman could not believe how hurt she felt for a man she had never meet before. It was a strange feeling that pressed against her thoughts.
A darker desire grew from her despair. It was a corrupt way of thinking, a lethal dream taking ahold of her.
“Should I have my revenge on those who have wronged you? I could take away their happiness, burn their homes, ruin their love… a river of their blood to satisfy my pain.”
The wind hollowed and the crow was now perched on a nearby tree watching the woman carefully.
“As wonderful as it sounds, it would do nothing to bring you back… only serve as a small gesture of my maddening heart and a wounded love. Revenge on the man who knows nothing of my existence!”
A cold wicked laughter escaped her lips.
The crow called out.
A storm was coming.
Placing her hand on the ground, she smiled softly.
“I’m not sure if it right to confess a love like mine so boldly. I know your name and I know your heart. I can only wonder how we could have met-“
The crow cawed loudly and began flapping its wings.
The woman stood up and kissed the gravestone before the rain fell.
The black bird flew to her and lowered its head.
“What a lovely bird you are… you guided me here… that was very kind of you.”
Taking the bird into her arms she caressed its wings.
“Now help me again. Take the lead. You know what I want!”
The bird flew into the sky and there followed the beautiful woman blinded with anger and sorrow.
Had she looked closer, the woman would have realized that the crow was not normal at all.
It had jet black feathers and… cold blue eyes.
