Love

When do you know you love someone? When the thought of them not only brings you happiness, but it also brings you pain? When seeing them makes you forget about your troubles, and focus on this "temporary" freedom you have when your around them? When their pain becomes your pain, their happiness makes you happy, and their motivation, motivates you to do better. Is love supposed to feel like your brain is non existent, and your heart makes you do things you wouldn't normally do. It's like this feeling makes me want to do things I shouldn't, makes me want to say things I thought I would never say, and act in ways I would never act. What is love? Is love supposed to make you think of you and this person having a future together? Sharing a home, a family, a life together, is this what that is? Is love supposed to be a scary feeling? Love, is it not only a beginning, but an ending to something so breathtaking... It's like my thoughts, get carried away in the wind, getting jumbled between leaves, leaving my heart confused. Should I follow the rush of wind, or should I follow the falling leaves?

Does love have a time limit? It's told that the average person should know their partner on a basic level three months in the relationship, this doesn't mean you love them in three months. This is just a guide to see if your partner paid attention to the wind and the falling leaves, and to see if you did the same. What comes after that? Comfortability, introducing parents, family, close friends. Does this being you one step closer to love? When you can do things you usually don't do around others, around them, when you remember the small things, which makes it a big thing. When their parents remember your name, because you are talked about a lot, when their siblings can enjoy your company just as much you enjoy theirs.

You see, the wind has no compass, for you and your partner are the guide. So the wind can go in any direction, forward, or backwards. But just because you go backwards, that doesn't mean love has to end, it just means that the partners have to get the wind back on track. With the wind constantly moving, it gives room for feelings to grow. Like leaves that grow on a tree, not all feelings remain, some good, some bad, falling to the ground, remaining their. You can turn anew leaf, you can feel stronger, but is this love? Does love make you want to make your partner breakfast, have karaoke nights, go out on dates, have a vacation, or can you just do this with someone you like?

When does this feeling occur? How do you know you truly love someone? When they are all you can think about? When you can't help but want to talk to them or about them all the time? When you worry to much about them, that it makes your stomach hurt? When you are finally around them, and you don't want to leave their side?

When is the right time to tell someone you love them? When it's been a year? A decade? Longer? Maybe even shorter then that? How do you say it? Do you say it directly? Or do you just show it through your actions? What is love?
