Unspoken Love

Unspoken Love

It's already 8 years.....

It's Feb 24.Our girl's turning 18 today. She was very bright in her studies and was well admired by her classmates of an all girls school.

It's Feb. That means exams are on doorsteps. Our girl has already woken up earlier than the sun. She never put her phone beside her study table while studying. But today........ She has been staring at her phone every five minutes as if someone had promised her to give her a call. But there was not even a text message for her. Suddenly there came a beep sound. She took it like her eyes would pop out. 'Happy b-day dear'. It was from her best friend. She just ignored it as if she was not the one our girl was expecting.

Actually she was never really interested in birthday wishes from her family and friends. She just considered it as nothing worthwhile.

This year she was turning 18 , so her mom had asked her what she wanted as a present befoehand. She stopped her mother from buying any kind of present because she believed there was nothing special in having a b-day gift every year. She never even answered any phone calls from friends that day saying it was irritating to hear the same words a number of times.

But even though she thought this way, there was an exception. She would always expect a phone call, or even a text message on this day of every year and the day would just end without receiving the call she was expecting the whole day.

It was like this for the past eight years. But there was not even a single day that she didn't think about the one from whom she was expecting the call. She never failed in waiting for that voice. But the voice never took an effort to reach her ears. She never even changed the number. When she got a new phone, she continued to use her mother's number and it was her mother that used the new number. She hoped that the one she was wholeheartedly will definitely call her someday. So she never dated to have a new number.

With great disappointment as usual on every b-day she went to her bed. She just stared at the roof lying on her back. Even though she could see the starry sky through the window, she felt her sky was clouded and was expecting a thunderstorm soon.

Even today she clearly remember the face of that 12 year old boy from eight years back. She had cried her heart out when she was forced to let go off the hands of that boy who was holding her little hands. She don't know when she started waiting for him. It was not love at first sight. But she like's to believe it that she started waiting for him from that day*..... She didn't realize back then the waiting actually means the beginning of her unrequited love for him.

She sighed,' It's already eight years since I met him......He is turning 22 this year. Has he already forgotten me?????'

*remember the bold words..
