Joining a guild

The orphanage only provides us with 3 meals a day and a place to sleep till we are 15 years old, after that the kids are considered as grown ups and they are kicked out of the orphanage.

If we want to earn pocket change then we have to go out and look for odd jobs like selling newspapers, etc.

The warriors who summoned strong monsters are instantly recruited by guilds, even those with mediocre monsters are able to find a place because of the high number of guilds.

The death rate of warriors is less than 10% so it's not as risky as others make it sound.

The only reason for death is lack of skill and challenging monsters beyond your level.

(Author: I really want to say this because I read some novels and comics saying death rate is very high for similar professions and it really makes me sick when the main character goes around killing everything beyond his level whereas ordinary people die from monsters below or of the same level)

I applied to a few mediocre guilds and got accepted almost instantly.

The next day I have to go to their guild house and officially register as a member so I slept early tonight.

(author: I am gonna try to start the story from third person perspective now....)

He woke up early in the morning at 7 am and then he was prepared to leave by 8 am, he arrived at the entrance of a giant building which was way bigger than his orphanage.

"Will I be part of this guild?"

He thought to himself looking at the luxurious building and then entered it, a guard looked at his application and guided him towards the reception.

That was all it took to become a member of a guild, although he had to sign a 6 months contract and he's only a temporary member for now because of the uncertainty of the monster that might hatch from the egg.

He can use the library and the training grounds freely, the main reason was to look for battle skills in the library because he can't afford to buy them.

He also gets some pocket change enough to buy him 3 meals in the guild canteen and a room to rest for night, that means he doesn't have to waste time on travelling.

He immediately went towards the library and started browsing through the books, one has to train their physical body and their mana both to remove the shackles that prevents them from climbing higher floors.

(Author: Apparently this world doesn't have things like levels where you can become strong just by slaying monsters so at the end of the day it all comes down to your skills)

He decided to spend 1 hour to practice his physical body and rest of the time to train mana.

Although he got stares from the crowd here and there because it wasn't so easy for them to become a member here and now they can see a orphan who doesn't even have a background get accepted so easily.

Although mostly everyone present were commoners but they were jealous of his luck.

Apparently a group of hot headed fools ended up going to him and started to create trouble.

"Ah hello, you must be new in the guild", a boy who was about 13 years old approached him and moved his hand forward for a handshake.

"Yes, I am dreck and I became a member today only", he is oblivious to the intentions of the guy who came to pick on him.

They both shook their hands but the other person was unwilling to let go and increased the pressure on his hand.
