Zixio sat up, startled by her consent dream. It was the middle of the night, the unchanging moon gleamed bright to the city of Cheng. Zixio had grown custom to living there, even if it was as a maid. Luckily, she found a job to work for the Duke and Duchess Gu, and their daughter Ling Gu. Although the conditions were bad, the money outweighed it.
Zixio sat up and carefully went down to the kitchen. The charcoal dye had begun to fade, showing the shiny silver hair. She went to the fireplace and got some charcoal that were already used and started redoing her hair.
The dream was a reminder for her to take revenge.
But how could I possibly take revenge as a maid? She thought. Although she did hear things about her village, there was no evidence of who massacred the village. The maids and workers of the Gu family gossiped about the rumours. Many believed that the Tians were the cause of the misfortune, and that they has lost the Goddess's favor.
Zixio sighed and washed her hands. How could they possibly know about the Tians daughter? The Cheng city was quite close to the Village of Yin, but no one knew the daughter escaped. So they must've covered it up. Zixio had a gut feeling that someone in the city of Cheng were responsible for the many deaths, because they were the only ones who even knew about her. The Tians next heir were kept a secret, which meant no outsider knew of her. Upset for the high statuses of Cheng.
It has been 4 years since that incident occurred, but it still came back to haunt Zixio. There wasn't a single day where she was made fun of the by workers for having deep blue eyes, just like the people of Yin. Although she could stand the criticism, she yearned to know where her family and people were. Tears streamed down her face, remembering the lives that were taken. Could it have been her fault? If she hadn't fled, would they still be alive? The weight of the burden latched onto her shoulders.
Time was running out, and she knew she had to save her people. She sat of the floor of the kitchen and continued her plan. She had saved up the money she had earned for the last 4 years, and it was now enough to support her. I should try to convince the lady to let me go out, then I'll be able to escape from here.
Zixio went back to her room and began packing her few clothings and the money she had. Her stomach grumbled, as she barely ate food to save up. Even so, she ignored it and prayed that things will go well when the sun rose up. It had to go well.
