A WEEK LATER, Ella tried not to hyperventilate as she stood in front of the three-way mirror in Xan's shop. The plunging neckline of the red dress nearly reached her belly button. If she had the nerve to buy this dress, it would go Perfectly with red high heeled sandals she'd seen in a store window down the street.
She'd never owned anything like this dress in her life, but it fit the image she was trying to project for Saturday's night with her date. The longer she wore the night dress, the more she believed in every woman's seductive powers
"way too sweetheart", Xan said
"No, I think this might be the one". Ella turned this way and that to see if she looked sufficiently sexy.
"but I wish it had a slit up the side".
"it used to". Xan pulled a blue dress off the rack.
"When I saw you eyeing that one the other day, I stitched it up. There's such a thing as over exposed. Even so, that dress is cut way lower than I thought. Try this one instead", she held out a blue dress.
Ella knows that no one cares, all her life she has been dressed up in blue because it looked decent and sometimes in her nun student dress. And to a gay it would be too boring, of course it will never make him drool. Even Xan knew that any guy that sees a girl in that red number must drool, but she was more worried what will happen after the drooling part.
Ella turned to face her sister. They had to go to the bottom of this. why was Xan so paranoid about the clearly stated impossibility that a gay and I will have sex on the first date.
Xan avoided her faze and hung the blue dress on the circukar rack. "Because I am your older sister, and Older ones are supposed to keep you way from the big bad wolf. At least on a first date"
"That's weak and you know it. What's the deal here?". Do you still realise i haven't changed him yet and he is still very well a gay".
Xan rummaged through the rack some more, but finally she turned, her cheeks rosy "remember Ramon"
Ella nodded. "The guy who drove the jaguar?"
Xan nodded, "when he asked me out, I was the envy of every girl in my sorority. He was older, sophisticated, rich".
"And you went to bed with him on the first date". Ella guessed.
"On the first and only date, it was so humiliating that I never told anybody. of course he probably told the world. it was so classic. we drank martinis and he convinced me that I was the girl he'd been waiting for all his life. of course afterward he laughed and called me naive for believing that old line".
Now Ella saw what her sister was trying to say. she walked closer to her sister and gave her a warm hug, she thought for a reason that the guy she wanted to change would never be like that. Ella appreciated her sister's concern, but she knew it wasn't needed in this instance. Right, Ella asked Xan to come with her on the date so she could guide her on what to do.
As Lonna handed his car keys to the valet at the restaurant Saturday night, he was still trying to figure out how to tell Sam his gay friend they were going to see his soon to be wife. he didn't think it was necessary to go into the transvestite story he'd cooked up, first of all because Sam might fail to see the humor in it, and secondly because he couldn't imagine Ella would bring up the subject. she'd just be extra nice to Sam, which wouldn't hurt a thing.
He did not like telling untrue stories about Sam, but this meeting with Ella was important. If she started thinking he needed a handler to keep him on a tight leash, as if he were some sort of lust crazed maniac, that could give a bad impression. Likewise, he'd needed to think of something to tell Sam that would explain why Ella will be with them or that it is not Sam's date but Ella's.
Sam on this other side, was worried about Same because he knew that Lonna has been gay for his seek, so he wouldn't feel out casted. He made all his family believe he was gay and he refused to tell them the truth. They'd left Houston in plenty of time to check into a hotel not far from the restaurant several minutes early. He just needed to figure out what to say. A beer would help both of them, but that would not be good to start a drink without the women.
There she was, "oh damn" she was gorgeous, why didn't he think about this the day he saw her. The red dress hugged her curves and swooped down in front to show off the sweetest cleavage he'd ever been privileged to ogle. He could not imagine how he'd keep his hands to himself, his zipper zipped. But he had to. he would.
Their waiter was ready to escort her and a stunning brunette to the table, but Ella spoke to him and he waiter pushed.
she scanned the room and when her gaze settled on him, her smile nearly caused his heart to stop beating and for a while he thought that maybe fate had a reason of making him choose her.............
