Last Ones Standing
Something felt wrong today as I walked back to my aprtment many people were running some we’re just as confused as I was. But when I saw it for the first time I could never forget the sight of it.
The day started as usual just a had a weird feeling deep down something was going to go wrong. Nonetheless I continued to get up and I had a cramp. "Shit!" I had started my period I quickly reached for a pad and ran to the bathroom. I walked out of the bathroom. My period felt worse than usual. I just brushed it off as a bad month. I got dressed in my favorite hoodie a white tank top and some dark blue jeans. I put my hair in a ponytail and grabbed my hat as I took my bag and rushed out the door. I was a couple of minutes late. Hopefully my teacher comes late! I thought.
I never knew the future ahead of me. I never did. When I was young I lost my grandparents to cancer, and my parents to suicide. I was left alone in a orphanage where the children slowly left, yet I was the only one left the frog at the bottom of the well who could never jump out. I soon grew too old to stay at the orphanage and had to leave. Luckily I found a job who would let me join as long as I graduated university. That was when the hardship began I was never a particularly happy kid but I made the best out of any situation just as my perants did. When I remember them I think of the pressure I had at the orphanage to get adopted and to get out of their hair as if I was a parasite who sucked them dry.
I was so caught up in my thoughts I almost crossed a red light. "Hey, wait you’re going to get hurt!" He grabbed my hand. It was my teacher Lucas! He had his glasses on, and his textbooks in his other hand. His maple hair shimmered in the autumn morning with his big sweater on. His ocean eyes gleamed as though it was him who was the one who almost got hit by a semi truck. "Are you okay Reagan?" He asked. Shit he recognized me! I went stiff. Then said "I-I’m fine, just a little shook." I replied as I tried to cool down. "You sure?" He asked. "Yeah I am nothing could be better!" I tried to say it in a excited tone so he would let go of my hand. "Alright then." He said in a worried tone. The light turned green just as he said that. I bolted as soon as he let go of my hand and made an A line to school. I reached class thank god Mr. brown (Lucas) didn’t make it here before me. A girl walked up to my desk and said.
